As 2013 enters the last quarter, PCD and Priefert Manufacturing have been blessed to have been involved in some great projects helping individuals, municipalities, and schools plan and/or build livestock related facilities. The concept upon which we formed PCD continues to very well received by a growing number of owners and architects who recognize the benefits of our early involvement. It seems that every week we are talking with people who are moving forward with projects that will offer new and exciting venues for growing participation in activities with horses and/or cattle. Optimism seems strong for continued growth throughout the coming year. Texas A&M Equestrian Initiative College Station, TX The Equine Initiative project for the TAMU Equestrian Team is closing in on the completion of Phase I. PCD’s Shane Johnson has been on site to direct installation of divider grills, windows and stall fronts as the 52 stall horse barn nears completion. Since ground breaking, this project has been on a fast track to meet a projected completion date in December. As of this writing, all stall components are in place and two 6‐Horse, 70’ diameter Panel Walkers are scheduled for delivery in October. Priefert’s Ponderosa Gates will accent the 10 paddock areas and 3‐rail Ponderosa Fencing should be installed in the Warm‐up Arenas in October. By January 2014, this great project will be a testament to coordinated efforts by A&M, Kirksey Architects, GAMMA Construction, their subcontractors and Priefert. This facility is sure to set new standards for collegiate equestrian training centers nationwide. Page 2

Perenchio Barn Ketchum, ID Finishing touches are wrapping up in on the Perenchio Barn. Several months ago, Priefert Complex Designs was contacted by Conrad Brothers Construction in Hailey, ID to provide options of custom stalls for this first‐
class private barn just outside of Ketchum, Idaho. This 6‐stall barn includes Diamond Series stall fronts along with custom designed stall backs that double as the barn wall itself. Guest living quarters further compliment the barn. The accompanying photo below shows Priefert stalls prior to staining of the wood. Priefert Complex Designs ∙ P.O. Box 1540 ∙ Mt. Bar None Cowboy Church Tatum, TX As Chan Peters of S & P Welding nears completion of this church arena in Tatum, TX, excitement is building. The church is already focusing on the design and construction of future phases to include seating, concessions and restrooms. Bar None has recently expanded its ministry to include the circulation of its quarterly magazine, “Travelin’ Partners” and the presentation of its video production of “Cowboy Authentic”. Cowboy Authentic is an unscripted cowboy reality television show offering a glimpse into the everyday workings of America’s top working ranches, while providing insight into the relevance of the gospel as it pertains to the ranching lifestyle. Cowboy Authentic can be seen each week on RFD‐TV. Learn more about Cowboy Authentic at http://www.rfdtv.com/story/22924187/cowboy‐authentic Calgary Despite the floodwaters just weeks before the rodeo, the 2013 Calgary Stampede ended their event with an official attendance of 1,009,788. Just days prior to opening, the Stampede’s new Priefert Bucking Chutes had about 3’ of water in them! Thousands of man‐hours from employees and enthusiastic volunteers overcame almost impossible odds to allow the 101st year of this remarkable event to take place on time. Officials called Priefert to find out what needed to be done to help the new equipment performed as it should. “Just a good power wash and a little WD‐40 ought to do it”, proved all that was necessary to insure the Greatest Show on Dirt went on without a hitch. If you’ve never been to The Stampede, put it on your list! Combining this historic rodeo, exciting chuckwagon races, The Night Show and everything else they offer with the incredibly hospitable people of Alberta makes this event one you’ll never forget! The 2014 Stampede takes place July 4‐13; tickets go on sale October 7th. Priefert Complex Designs ∙ P.O. Box 1540 ∙ Mt. Pleasant, TX 75455 ∙ 800‐527‐8616 ∙ www.priefertcomplexdesigns.com Page 4

Texas A&M Commerce, TX On September 6th, PCD’s Wade Clark, Glen Calvert and David Fillebrown attended the official ribbon cutting for TAMU Commerce’s new Equestrian Arena. A crowd of about 80 faculty, staff, students and other interested parties heard Randy VanDeven (V.P of University Enhancement), Lindsay Walton (Equine Manager), Provost Adolfo Benavides and University President Dan Jones offer brief comments about history and benefits of the new riding facility. Although specifically designed to support the growing popularity of Lindsay’s Equine program, it appears the new arena has also stimulated development of a competitive university rodeo team currently to be headed by Dr. Edward Romero. The university continues to seek opportunities to enhance student enrollment. TAMU’s new facility was designed by PCD’s Glen Calvert with Dallas’ Corgan being architect of record. Construction took place under the direction of Jackson Construction of Quitman, TX. Priefert Complex Designs ∙ P.O. Box 1540 ∙ Mt. Kansas Star Casino Mulvane, KS In late September, Priefert’s Rough Stock Specialist Bryan Northcutt and Kansas Representative David Hester joined PCD’s David Fillebrown at the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, Kansas for the first‐time set‐
up of their new arena. With help of a good local crew, bucking chutes, arena and holding pens were set in place to hold this arena’s very first bull riding. Arena Manager Tim Lanier (formerly with the Lazy E) plans a variety of events including concerts, bull riding, rodeos, team roping and more. Located just south of Wichita on I‐35, this Boyd Gaming facility has over 1800 slots, 45 table games, four restaurants and a Hampton Inn with 150 rooms. Check it out at www.kansasstarcasino.com. Woodward County Fairgrounds Woodward, OK Bids for construction of several new facilities at the Woodward County Fairgrounds will be taken in October with ground breaking scheduled for November. PCD’s Glen Calvert and Wade Clark have worked closely with Stan Lewis and Nguyen Nguyen of AIP Architects of Norman, OK, to make plans and create designs for the new Expo Center that will also include offices and meeting space for the OSU Extension Service. In addition, existing buildings will be renovated to create stall barns and multi‐purpose areas. Fair attendees will enjoy the new, expanded facilities while participating livestock exhibitors will have several new pens, wash bays, and tie‐stalls for competing sheep, hogs, goats and cattle. Stanley Fairgrounds Estes Park, CO Our thoughts and prayers are with our friends in Estes Park as they recover from the recent flooding. Meanwhile, construction is underway on the new stall barn designed by Priefert Complex Designs and Norris Design of Denver, Colorado. The stall barn along with the Fairgrounds’ new Multi‐Purpose Event Center will enable Estes Park to attract visitors to their town year round for new events and provide upgraded facilities to host current activities. Holiday Season As fall approaches, everyone at PCD and Priefert Manufacturing wishes all our friends and family a safe, healthy and happy holiday season. Have fun and be safe around Halloween; be mindful of the many thanks we have to give at Thanksgiving and the blessings we receive daily; and let us be the first to say “Have a Very Merry Christmas”!
