Runkle School From the Principal
Dear Families,
Does your child have an IEP?
Do you want more information
about the special education
services at Runkle?
Do you want to know who is on
the Special Ed faculty at Runkle
and have the chance to meet with
some of them?
Goal Setting for 20122013
In classrooms, we are all setting goals for the year. Teachers are sharing
their goals for the year and students are identifying what they want to
achieve this year as well. We also have our School Improvement Plan as
well, which sets out actions that will help Runkle meet its schoolwide goals
as well. Through our School Needs Survey, we were able to create a plan
that stemmed from the various sources of data including the school needs
survey that provided the Data Team and School Council with critical
information to create the goals for this year. You can view the schoolwide
goals for this year by visiting Runkle.org.
There are also goals of the individuals in our school. Our students,
teachers, and administrators all have goals that they are working on this
year as we all continue to learn and grow. Some of the data provided on the
School Needs Survey indicated that there were some additional realms that
I will be addressing in my goals for the year for Runkle as a whole as well
as for me as the principal. I will look forward to sharing the school needs
survey data from the spring and the goals that we will be working towards
this year. This information will be shared at an upcoming meeting on
Thursday, September 27th at 8:30 a.m. in the Martin Sleeper Library.
The presentation will also be posted on the website for those that cannot
attend.
Want to Volunteer at Runkle?
Runkle has a busy calendar each year and there are often opportunities for
family members to become involved such as attending field trips, assisting
with an event at the school or volunteering in classrooms. If you would like
to be involved in this way, please be sure that you have filled out a CORI
form in advance of the event. You can download the form by clicking here.
Thank you!
Upcoming Events
This Thursday, September 20th, beginning at 6:30 p.m. will be our Backto
School Night for grades 6, 7, and 8. A Connect Ed message was sent to all
parents and guardians of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders last Friday with the
details as well.
On Friday, September 21st, we will have our annual Summer Reading and
Math celebration during the K2 Morning Meeting in the gymnasium. On the
following Friday, September 28th, instead of the K2 Morning Meeting, we
will be holding a special grade 35 Morning Meeting for students in the gym
for their Summer Reading and Math celebration. Last year, we held one
such meeting for students in grades 35 and it was such a positive
experience that we are looking to continue this practice during the 2012
2013 school year on the LAST Friday of every month to gather together as a
cohesive student community!
The next week, in addition to the presentation in the morning, we also have
the Runkle Family Picnic to look forward to on the following Monday
evening! Thank you to the PTO for arranging this each year! Enjoy your week!
Sincerely,
Vanessa C. Beauchaine, Ed.D.
