The Crystal Slipper
When your leading lady fails to show for Cinderella, all you need is
an understudy who can’t wait to bring the role bang up to date.
Out goes the goodie-two-slippers of pantos gone by – in
comes the modern Ms with attitude and a mouse phobia. It’s
all up to a resolute Fairy Godmother
to make it all right on the night.
This dazzling production from The
Puppeteers’ Company features an
ingenious, magical setting and
colourful rod puppets. Set to
ballet music by Strauss,
The Crystal Slipper is a hilarious
puppet mime combining
highly visual storytelling with
a witty narration. Suitable for all
audiences of school age and above.

Top Hats & Tales
Top Hats & Tales is a fun-filled rod
puppet extravaganza. Performed
entirely to music, which ranges from
Rossini to Bill Haley, the production
features many aspects of dance,
mime, and movement, in a series of
engaging theatrical pieces. Audiences
both young and old are invited to
share in a treasure trove of colour
and dazzling visual surprise. As each
piece unfolds, a new theme is
explored, a new mood magically
invoked. A sumptuous setting evokes
the plush and greasepaint of theatres
half-remembered or long since gone.
Both productions created and performed by
Steve Lee and Peter Franklin
who founded the company in 1980

Llyn Cerrig Bach
An illustrated presentation by Eflyn Owen-Jones on how her father,
William Owen Roberts, was instrumental in the discovery of the Llyn
Cerrig Bach Hoard. In 1943, he was in charge of the groundwork at
RAF Valley. When America entered the war, extensions had to be
added to the runways in order for their aircraft to land. His decision
to dredge the boggy areas around was decisive in the discovery of
the artefacts.

Rhwng: the Point Between
Friday 1 Gwener
In Celtic myth the raven is the herald of the
type of change which can often be challenging
and even upsetting. However the raven can
also bring a special kind of magic through
which that which hurts most is eventually
profoundly healing.
Storyteller Steve Gladwin lost his partner,
Celia, in 2006. In Catch a Lift on the next Raven
he weaves together the story of Celia's life and passing with story,
myth, poetry and, above all, the inspiration of the animals.

London Mozart Players
Monday 4 Llun
May – Mai
The London Mozart Players, the UK's longest-established chamber
orchestra, perform live music to the silent film The Cabinet of Dr Caligari.
Composer Lynne Plowman has written a new score to accompany this
fantastic film, regarded as the first true horror film.
Made in 1920, it tells of Dr Caligari and his sleepwalking friend, Cesare, an
attraction at a local carnival who prophesies someone’s death. The villagers
chase Dr Caligari and Cesare, as they suspect their involvement with the
murder. The plot twists and turns to bring the film to an unexpected end.
An entertaining evening combining great music and great cinema.

Directed & designed
by Sâmir Bhamra
When the mistress is away,
the maids will play
Phizzical Productions presents The Maids, Jean Genet’s notorious first play,
which takes elements of the thriller and subverts them with disturbing
games of language, transgression, and transformation.
A poisoned teacup, a mysterious 'Monsieur', a profusion of flowers, and
two sisters caught up in a fantasy of conspiracy and murder. When left
alone in the house, Claire and Solange Lemercier indulge in secret rituals of
hatred and revenge, directed against their wealthy employer. They both
love and hate their mistress and are drawn daily to act out fantasies of
power and submission. Will the game ever reach its conclusion and with
what consequences? Suitable for ages 15+

The story and music of
Chet Baker
told by
Mike Maran
directed by

with
Colin Steele Trumpet
Dave Milligan Piano
It’s 1961, and Chet Baker is in jail in Lucca. Voted best trumpet player in
the world only five years before, now he’s doing time in an Italian jail for
drug offences. Italians strolling around the town walls stop and listen to the
sound of Chet’s golden trumpet wafting through the prison bars.
Chet shared his prison cell with a storyteller. The storyteller became his
friend. Twenty-eight years later, Chet shared a hotel room in Amsterdam
with his friend. That was the night Chet Baker died. Only the storyteller
knows what really happened. He knows the whole story – and now he’s
telling it.
Told by Mike Maran with live music on stage arranged and performed by
Colin Steele (trumpet) and Dave Milligan (piano) this is an unforgettable
evening of jazz, junk, and genius! Suitable for ages 15+
