By now I’m sure you have all heard your
children talk- whether it was in the car on the way to
or from school, while doing homework, or may be
even over dinner chitchat - about how everyone at
Harte will grow this year. As you know, Harte is a
place where we believe high expectations and hard
work lead to excellence in everything we do. While
we are constantly striving for excellence, we must
remember to take a step back and reflect on where
we are, where we want to go, and come to the realization that we don’t know it all or have everything
figured out.
Each year, the Harte staff and our students
work hard every day. This year we have made a
conscience effort to push and grow ourselves in ways
we could never dream – academically, socially, emotionally, etc… We must remember that our possibilities are limitless! The only person who can hold you
back from your dreams is yourself! Thank you once
again for affording us an opportunity to work with
your families this school year. We appreciate your
support and dedication to our growth and look
forward to your family growing right along with
us. LET’S MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT!

The Nurse’s Corner
We’re getting back into the routine of school again and the days
are flying by! A reminder to
parents to check each day to see
if any papers were sent home
with students so that they can be
reviewed, signed, if necessary
and returned. Each parent received a yellow/gold 2-page
sheet entitled HEALTH HISTORY
by the State of Louisiana at the
beginning of the school year.
Please be certain that these have
been filled out with any medical
concerns mentioned and returned
to the Nurse immediately for
follow-up. Since these are required by the State, documentation must be provided for any
student whose information is missing. The State DOES follow up
for compliance! I have received
notification from the Dr. Folse Dental Program that was utilized on
campus that the program has been
suspended indefinitely. It will now
be necessary to schedule regular
dental visits for your child(ren) with
an outside dentist to maintain good
dental health.
Alice Harte School has now contracted
with a local eye doctor to provide
vision services for our students. If you
wish your child(ren) to participate in
this program, a consent form for the
GREATER NEW ORLEANS EYE
CARE will soon be coming home for
your review and signature. When it
arrives, please sign it and return immediately if you are interested in the
service so our Doctor can start vision
screenings as soon as possible. Be
sure to check BOTH SIDES of the
letter as one side will explain their
service and the other side is the consent. Let's work together to keep our
students healthy!

Meet The 2014-2015 Marching Unit Members
Practice will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15-4:30. In order to participate in practices or performances students must: maintain a 2.5 GPA, must not
have any behavior infractions or excessive absences and/or tardies, attend all scheduled practices, and must have a physical. Please arrive at 4:25 pm to pick your
child up from practice, which ends at 4:30 pm. If students are not picked up on time you will be charged $5.00 for every 5 minutes you are late starting at 4:35 pm.

A message from the PTO President
The Alice Harte PTO is looking for those that would like to get involved and donate time to sign
up for the following committees: Hospitality Committee, Fundraiser Committee, School Beautification, Volunteer Committee, and Room Mom Committee. If you would like more information about
any of these please email [email protected] or leave a message in the office.
PTO Pizza Friday will be the first Friday of every month beginning Sept. 5th. Pizza slices and
juice boxes will be sold during recess on the black top. A pizza slice, juice, or water will be a
$1.00 each.

We have gotten a new shipment of PE uniforms and have begun to sell them. You may purchase
PE uniforms on every Friday in September from 7:30-8:00am and from 2:45-3:15pm in the cafeteria. Order forms can be found in the office and those orders will be filled in Friday's as well.
Remember those students in grades 4th through 8th that take PE will need to get a PE uniform. The
cost is $10 for shirt and $15 for shorts. An optional drawstring bag is available for $8.

Alice Harte is proud to announce the founding of Helping Hands, a mentoring
program with the mission to enable all youth to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. The premise is that students and staff
work closely through various avenues to build a foundation of community and
family. Members of this life-changing organization will participate in monthly
courses and activities related to community outreach, health/hygiene, entrepreneurship, health relations and much more! Its founders, Mr. Washington, a special education teacher, and Mrs. Antoine, a 4th grade ELA teacher, are more than
exuberated to begin this journey soon! We’re looking forward to your support in
this marathon to building a better tomorrow. Everyone will grow, including you!
