Vanessa Thomas Williams is an Attorney
at Law who also specializes in Industrial
Relations and legal issues surrounding
Employment. She is an Industrial Relations
(Corporate) Consultant and is currently engaged
in private practice. Her professional work also
covers Administrative Law, Occupational
Safety and Health Management, Industrial
Relations and Human Resource Management
training. She has held management positions
in the public and private sectors of Trinidad and
Tobago and Guyana. She represents a range

David Cohen is passionate about helping

Anne P. Crick is a Senior Lecturer and Head
of the Behavioural Science and General
Management Unit at the Mona School of
Business & Management. She was a former
Head of the Department of Management
Studies and the Centre for Hospitality and
Tourism Management located in Nassau,
Bahamas. She is also a former Associate
Dean of the Faculty of Social Science and is
also a certified trainer in hospitality management and is a trained facilitator.

Patrick Sterling, PhD, is the former Chairman
of the JEF Convention Committee. He has
served as educator, trainer, facilitator, moderator
and presenter. His experience is in insurance,
retail marketing, telecommunications, manufacturing and distribution. He previously held
Senior HR Management positions in LIME
Jamaica, Pepsi-Cola Jamaica and Carreras
Limited.
Within academia Patrick has lectured courses
in Management and Human Resources
Management at both the Bachelor’s and

HABIB CHAMOUN-NICOLAS, PhD
Over the past 25 years, Habib ChamounNicolas has been conducting negotiation and
business development activities in diversified
sectors, oil and gas, petroleum, petrochemical,
chemical, industrial, commercial, institutional,
for the sales and marketing of services and
products. Dr. Chamoun-Nicolas is a member of
the advisory board of the Frank Evans Center
for Conflict Resolution at the South Texas
School of Law. Also he is a board member of
the American College of Acupuncture and
Oriental Medicine, Genesys, ITS, and the CELH
(Chamber of Latin entrepreneurs of Houston).
Dr. Habib Chamoun-Nicolas was awarded with
the title of honorary professor at the Faculty of
entrepreneurial specialties at the Catholic
University of Santiago de Guayaquil.
HON. DERRICK KELLIER
The Honourable Derrick Kellier is the
Minister of Labour & Social Security. He is
also a businessman and a farmer and has
been Member of Parliament for Southern
St. James since February 1989. He has
had significant experience and a distinguished record of service in Government,
and is the recipient of the award of the
Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander (CD) which was conferred in 2009.
Before his current re-assignment as Minister
of Labour and Social Security in January
2012, he was Leader of Opposition Business
in the House of Representatives and Shadow
Portfolio Minister for the Ministry of Labour
& Social Security.

Health with the Ministry of Labour and

OSH and is very widely trained in the area.

Javette Nixon is the Founder, President &
CEO of Point Global Marketing Limited
(POINT), where he oversees and directs its
operations and business Development
processes. POINT is a brand design and
brand development firm that focuses on the
marketing, promotions and brand design for
companies both locally and internationally.
Javette has over a decade of experience in
a variety of industries gained both in the
United States and Jamaica. His passions
and experiences are diverse, ranging from
volunteerism and philanthropy, to web
development, economics, commerce, media,
e-commerce, banking and Internet marketing.
DENZIL THORPE
Denzil Thorpe is the Director of Social
Security with the Ministry of Labour and
Social Security. He has direct responsibility
for the delivery of the Ministry’s social
programmes including the NIS and PATH
as well as programmes seeking to advance
the welfare of senior citizens and persons
with disabilities. He previously served as
the Director of the National Insurance
Scheme.
Denzil has over 16 years experience in making
presentations at various local and international expos/fora and over 11 years’ experience
in making presentations on the NIS.
LEACHIM SEMAJ, Ph D
Leachim. Semaj, a Consulting Psychologist
and Motivational Speaker, is a frequent
facilitator for Strategic Planning Retreats,
Cultural Alignment and Organizational
Restructuring and has conducted Staff
Development Programmes for many sectors
including Hospitality, Finance, Gaming,
Telecommunications, Security, Agriculture,
Shipping, Distribution, Manufacturing and
Government, across the Caribbean. Entities in
Jamaica, Antigua, The Cayman Islands, St. Kitts,
Belize, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and

Devon Rowe is the Financial Secretary
in the Ministry of Finance and Planning.
He has over thirty two years experience in
the public service in areas of fiscal policy
and local government. He previously served
as Deputy Financial Secretary and Permanent
Secretary.
TONY L. HENTHORNE, PhD
Tony Henthorne teaches Marketing Planning &
Strategy and directs all graduate programmes,
research activities and international programmes
for his college. He has worked with resort
entities throughout the Caribbean and Mexico
on market planning and customer service. His
latest work deals with destination image and
brand personality of Jamaica.
He has been a marketing professor for over 25
years and, as such, has made hundreds of
presentations. He has worked with tourism and
resort entities in the US, Caribbean and Mexico,
primarily in marketing planning and customer
service. He has spoken to numerous organizations, meetings and conferences ranging in size
from small dinners to gatherings of several
hundred listeners. He is a frequent traveller
throughout the Caribbean where the diverse
cultures of the region continue to draw him back.
He has visited Jamaica 78 times and is looking
forward to his 79th visit.
F R I T Z H . A . P I N N O C K , PhD
Fritz Pinnock is the Executive Director of
the Caribbean Maritime Institute. His vision
and leadership style have resulted in a
team-oriented work environment. He is very
purpose-driven and goal-oriented and is
no stranger to top managerial positions,
having been in management since he was
21 years old. Having progressed and moved
on to serve in other management positions
over the years, Dr. Pinnock explains that
to lead effectively, one has to have the ability
to influence and maintain a good rapport
with staff.
Dr. Pinnock is also an author, with his most
recent work titled – Caribbean Cruise
Tourism: Power Relations among
Stakeholders.
WILLIAM W. LAWRENCE, PhD
William Lawrence is a veteran consultant and
researcher in the field of strategic management.
Currently, his work focuses on developing
business models for organizational transformation. He has a book that is forthcoming
from UWI Press and tiled “Business Renewal
– A Roadmap from Jamaican Firms.”

Wayne Chen is Chairman of the JEF 2014
Convention Committee, President Caribbean
Employers’ Confederation (CEC), Immediate
Past President of the Jamaica Employers’
Federation (JEF). He is also Chairman and
CEO of Super Plus Food Stores and he
presently serves on the Boards of CVM
Television Group and National Commercial
Bank. His commitment to national service
is manifested through his service in various
capacities on many other Boards and
committees.

RAVI PEIRIS, LLB
STEVEN
Ravi Peiris is an Attorney-at-law by profession
and is currently the Director General/Chief
Executive Officer of the Employers’ Federation
of Ceylon, a post he has held since 2007.
Mr. Peiris is also a visiting lecturer at the
University of Colombo Faculties of Law and
Management, Post Graduate Institute of
Management and the Faculty of Graduate
Studies. He has also been invited as a
Resource Person by the International Labour
Organization to conduct training programmes
for Employers Organizations in Cambodia,
Vietnam, Mongolia and China. He has written
many articles and publications on topics
related to Employee Relations.
Steven Burch is the Senior Partner at Quaestus,
a UK consulting firm specializing in creative
and effective training and develop- ment
initiatives. He is a lively and engaging trainer,
great coach, skillful facilitator and effective
communicator, with persons at every level
in the organization.
ROBERT OPPENHEIMER PhD
Robert Oppenheimer is a Professor of
Management and the Director of the Centre
for Mature Students at Concordia University
in Montreal, Canada. Bob teaches Organizational Behavior and a course he created,
Developing Managerial Skills, in the MBA
programs.
The focus of his work has been the effective
utilization of organizations’ Human Resources.
He has been conducting workshops and
teaching in the MBA programmes for the
Institute of Business of the University of the
West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago since 1995.
Robert has extensive experience consulting
and conducting workshops for small and
medium-sized privately held corporations as
well as with large organizations in both the
private and public sectors.
ACRES STOWE
Acres Stowe has twenty (20) years’ proven track
record in the Information Technology Industry,
having spent seventeen (17) of those years in
Senior Executive Management roles.
He is currently serving as a Director on the
following Boards: Caribbean Employers’
Confederation (CEC), Medical Benefits
Scheme, Antigua & Barbuda National Development Foundation and the Caribbean Export
Development Agency'. He previously served as
President of the Antigua & Barbuda Employers’
Federation (ABEF) for four terms (2009 - 2013).

Rev. Dr. Morgan is a Managing Consultant
with Global Management Solutions Limited and
Caribbean Applied Technology Centre Limited.
With over 20 years experience in the field,
he is highly regarded in the Caribbean region
as an Education Administrator, Organization
Development Specialist, a Strategic Planner,
and a Human Resource Development
Professional.

He is, a Member of the Chartered Institute of
Personnel and Development, a past council
member of the Association for Management
Education and Development and has trained
over 30,000 people in his career to date…
He also facilitates and presents at conferences,
and is an author with Kogan Page business
publishers in the UK.
JOHN PILGRIM
John Pilgrim is the Executive Director of
the Barbados National Productivity Council.
He has been involved in the design and
development of Productivity Improvement
Programmes in Barbados and throughout
the wider Caribbean. He is the past Vice
President of the Caribbean Management
Development Association and a member of
the Project Advisory Committee of the ILO
Programme for the Promotion of Management
and Labour Cooperation (PROMALCO).
Mr. Pilgrim has also produced a number of
“Productivity In Focus” publications and is the
Author of several papers and booklets some
of which are: “The Feasibility of Developing
Productivity Index for the Public Sector;
“Developing a Productivity and Performance based Measurement System for the Public
Sector: A Payment Perspective for Workers”;
“A Framework for a Public Sector Performance Based Bonus”.
He is also a Fellow of the World Academy of
Productivity Science.

ANNE KNOWLES, LLB
MICHELE ENGLISH
Anne Knowles is currently the Senior
Specialist on Employers’ Activities with the
ILO. She has extensive experience in all areas
related to employer interests, having worked
for over nine years with the ILO and
Employers’ Organizations and their members
in South East Asia, Central and Eastern
Europe and, since 1 August 2012, the
Caribbean. Prior to joining the ILO she spent
12 years with the New Zealand Employers’
Federation – the last four as Chief Executive
Officer.
Michele is president and chief operating
officer of Columbus Communications
Jamaica Limited, operators of the Flow and
Columbus Business Solutions brands in
Jamaica. In this role since 2008, Michele
provides strong leadership for the team at
Columbus that has transformed telecommunications in Jamaica. She has been named a
top business leader and nationally recognized
for her contributions to the economy,
innovations in technology and customer
service and for the Company’s contribution
to corporate social responsibility. Michele
and her team are driven by their mission to
“enable people to transform their lives by
providing leading communications technologies
and services that inspire them to achieve.”
The company’s innovative, broad- band
powered cable TV, landline telephone and
internet services continue to have a
profound impact on the way Jamaicans live,
play, learn and do business and are key
enablers for economic growth and national
development.
Anne Knowles’ practical industrial relations
experience was gained representing the
interests of the meat export processing
companies in New Zealand in her role as
Industrial Executive and Legal Adviser. She
was the Industry’s advocate in all national
collective agreements. She was also
instrumental in developing a new legislative
framework for labour relations in New
Zealand.
Her other areas of expertise include OSH,
CSR and International labour standards.
W A Y N E W E S L E Y , PhD
Wayne Wesley is the Executive Director
of the HEART Trust/NTA. He joined the
Organization in 2009 as National Programmes
Director, and was subsequently promoted
to the position of Chief Technical Director
with responsibility for the development
and execution of the Organization’s strategic
priorities. Dr. Wesley also provides regional
leadership in workforce development as
the Chairman of the Caribbean Association
of National Training Agencies (CANTA).
A Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Wesley has over
twenty years' experience in the delivery,
development and administration of
Technical Vocational Education and Training
(TVET) both locally and internationally. His
professional experience spans industrial
technology, technical education and
]leadership.
GARY (BUTCH) HENDRICKSON
Gary C. Hendrickson, also known as Butch
serves as the principal and chairman of
Continental Baking Company Limited and
Director of National Continental Corporation.
He is also a member of the American Society
of Bakery Engineers.
Through his initiative, an affirmation programme dubbed "The Bold Ones - New
Champions of Manufacturing”, he provides
aspiring Jamaicans with the motivation
needed to consider the creation of their own
enterprises as a viable career path and to
promote manufacturing and production as a
part of the solution to Jamaica's economic
growth.
SANDRA HUSBANDS
Sandra Husbands has over twenty (20)
years’ business experience as a consultant.
Her background, training and experience
spans five fields of business endeavour,
namely Training, Management Consulting,
Tourism, Sales & Market Research.
Over the past decade she has devised training
material that has impacted greatly on the work
attitudes and work effectiveness of all staff layers
in an organisation. This life changing material is
designed around the complexity of the Caribbean
person and addresses the underlying psychocultural issues that impact on productivity and
efficiency within organizations. The response of
participants has been gratifying, enabling her to

D O N O V A N T H O M A S , PhD
Donovan A. Thomas is Founder and President
of Choose Life International (CLI), a non-profit
organization registered in Jamaica. He is also a
former National Director of Jamaica Youth For
Christ and past Regional Director for Youth For
Christ International in the Caribbean.
Dr. Thomas has made presentations to churches,
schools, the business community and the public
at large on the subject of suicide prevention and
is the author of the book, “Confronting
Suicide: Helping Teens at Risk”, which has
been endorsed by the Ministry of Education.
He has served in partnership with the Ministries
of Education and Health, providing specialist
training to Guidance and Master Counselors in
suicide intervention and prevention.
