Saints Basketball
Our school basketball team, the Saints, have been doing great. Their record is 6-0,
which is good compared to last year. The coaches, Joe Gargaro and Alex Wiggin, are
teaching the team loads. One of the basketball players, Joe, said, “We’re good.” Keep it up,

NHL Update
The State of Hockey
Here is the NHL update. Steve Stamkos leads the league in goals and Henrik Sedin
leads the league in assists. The Philadelphia Flyers lead the league in points. We are in
17th place, with a record of 24-18-5. We are in third place in our division, however, it is very
close between the teams. At least the Wild aren't doing as bad as the New Jersey Devils.
We need a lot of work to make the Play Offs. -Bobby

Gopher's Basketball
The Gophers are having a great season so far. Going into Conference play, we had
hope that we would keep going on a hot streak, but sadly the Gophers fell down in the
standings with a 1-3 record in the Big Ten.
Minnesota hosted Purdue on January 13. Purdue was ranked number 8 in the
country at the time and we were ranked number 25. Our history against Purdue hasn't been
so great in the past decade, but we proved ourselves a good team. We defeated Purdue 70
to 67. Blake Hoffarber had 26 points and led the Gophers to a close win. Hoffarber was
interviewed after the game and said, "We still have hope for this team and contending in
the Big Ten."
Just when everything seemed going in our direction, Al Nolen suffered a season
ending foot injury. Hoffarber will now have to play point guard.
The Gophers are still fighting for a Big Ten Championship, and are going to have to
depend on what a newspaper guy called "Blake and the big guys." -Joe

Katy Perry’s song “Firework” is a great song! It tells
you to be yourself, and don’t let anyone stop you from
being yourself. It has a great beat and it is fun to dance to!
We recommend listening to it. We give it four out of five
