Dear ELA friends,
We are very pleased to invite you to the XXXI ELA Annual Meeting of the European Lawyers’
Association which will take place in Valencia (Spain) from 14 to 17 May 2015.
The City
Valencia is the third largest city in Spain and one of the liveliest. It is situated in the middle of
the Spanish Mediterranean coast, with beaches right in the very heart of the city, with
fantastic possibilities for any kind of sports, a boiling nightlife and an ample cultural and
historical offer.
Valencia was founded by the Romans some 2000 years ago and has one of the largest old
quarters in Europe (Ciutat Vella, meaning the Old City), with a fantastic atmosphere. In the
14th and 15th centuries it was the economic and cultural capital of the Mediterranean.
We enjoy a 19°C annual average temperature, more than 300 days of sunshine per year, firstquality beaches, seafront promenades and Mediterranean food, Valencia being the home of
the Paella.
Travelling to Valencia
Whether you come by plane (preferable for those not living in Spain), by train or car, the city
boasts excellent connections with the rest of the country and abroad with many direct flights
from major European cities.
Accommodation
The hotels we have selected for the Meeting are located in the very centre of the City, within
walking distance of many of the programmed events and surrounded by historical landmarks
and sites.
Landmarks
Catedral, Real Basilica de la Virgen de los Desamparados, Mercado Central, Lonja de la Seda,
Torres de Serranos, Torres de Quart, Cauce del Río Turia, Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias,
Marina Real, Playas de Valencia (Las Arenas, Malvarrosa, El Saler), and Parc Natural de
L’Albufera are among the most important landmarks in the City.
The Programme
We have put together a very attractive programme combining interesting legal lectures,
exciting social life, gastronomic and musical events, while visiting and enjoying most of the
landmarks above.

We look forward to seeing you in Valencia in May, a very special month for the City, for what

Travel to Valencia
Manises Airport
Valencia International Airport (VLC), also known as the Manises Airport, is located 8 km west of the city centre.
Taxi fare into the city centre is 20€. You have also an underground station taking you to very heart of the city.
Other airports
If possible, we strongly recommend to fly to Madrid airport and connect Valencia using the AVE high-speed train.
Prices may vary depending of offers, time of the day, coach class, so please check prices and times (or other trains) at
www.renfe.com
All trains arriving in Valencia are within walking distance of the hotel or you can take a taxi for a 5-7 € fare.
