August 18, 19, 20 – Woody’s Country Music Jamboree Vereastau Historic Home, 4340 Veraestau Lane, Aurora. Clare Dunn and Indiana’s
own rising star Clayton Anderson are the co-headliners of this year’s festival. Other
acts include Karen Waldrup, Ashley Martin, Skallywags, Dallas Moore, Richard

August 20 – Lauren’sburg Hill 5-K - 7:22AM beginning at
Lawrenceburg High School. Second year for the 5-mile/5K Run & Walk to honor
Lauren Hill. All proceeds benefit Lauren’s Fight for Cure to provide scholarships
and assistance to families afflicted with DIPG or pediatric brain cancer. Lauren
Hill lost her fight against DPIG, a pediatric brain cancer, in April 2015. She was
able to raise more than a million dollars for research into the disease through
Fight for Cure, a non-profit organization begun by Lauren and her family. Info:

August 20 – P.A.W.S Bark and Brew – For its 13th-annual gala fund
raiser, PAWS is once again featuring beer tastings by Aurora’s Great Crescent
Brewery, at the Dearborn Country Club, Aurora. The evening includes a buffet
dinner, a silent auction of dozens of themed baskets, a Raining Cats and Dogs
raffle of many items, a 52-card draw for a major prize and the Great Crescent

August 20 – Livery of Aurora Grand Opening – 7PM-11PM, 215
Bridgeway Street, Aurora. The Livery of Aurora Receptions and Events Center, in
the heart of downtown Aurora, invites everyone to its Grand Opening. This is a
benefit for the Aurora Emergency Rescue. Local caterers and restaurants, and some
of the best bakers in Dearborn County, along with local wineries, will be here for
tastings. Aurora’s own Great Crescent Brewery and other breweries throughout the

A 74,000 lb. fire truck, will be pulled by various teams to raise a minimum of $500
through hosting fundraisers, individual pledges or corporate sponsorships. All

Mark Your Calendar for Fall Fun
Even though it’s only August, fall is just around the corner, and
you’ll find a variety of great events and activities already on
the agenda in Southeast Indiana.
If you haven’t yet had a chance to experience a Perfect
North Mud-Stash, you’ll get your chance again in
September, when the ski area will transform itself into one
huge obstacle course for this popular event open to
participants of all ages and abilities. Competitors can choose
from the Mud-Stash (four-mile course) or Mini Mud-Stash
(approximately 1.5 miles). The races are scheduled for Sat.,
Sept. 10 and are open to spectators as well.
Then, help commemorate Indiana’s Bicentennial during the
special statewide Bicentennial Torch Relay, which will
come through Dearborn County on Sept. 17. Follow the torch
as it makes its way from Dillsboro to Aurora to Lawrenceburg,
enjoying special activities in each community throughout the
day.
Frank Caliendo Returns to
Lawrenceburg
Popular comedian Frank Caliendo returns to Lawrenceburg
this month for a night of great comedy on the Lawrenceburg
Event Center stage. The comedian, actor and impressionist
will perform his act live in downtown Lawrenceburg on Sat.,
Aug. 20.
Known for his hilarious impersonations of politicians, actors
and celebrities, Caliendo has starred on television programs
such as MadTV, Frank TV, The Tonight Show and the Fox NFL
Sunday Pregame Show. His high-energy act is a blend of
observations, impressions, characters and anecdotal stories
that start at a frenetic pace and never let up. Caliendo’s Aug.
20th show will begin at 8pm, with tickets available at www.

Feeling festive? Arts and crafts aficionados will love Arts
and Crafts in the Park (Sept. 11), a unique arts and crafts
fair boasting more than 100 booths of handmade items. And
live music lovers won’t want to miss the Lawrenceburg Fall
Fest (Sept. 22-24), an annual fall festival offering big-name
entertainment and a variety of traditional festival activities
such as rides, games, food booths and the DCH Heart & Lung
Health 5K Run & Walk on Sept. 24. Finally, discover one of
Indiana’s oldest festivals at the Aurora Farmers Fair (Sept.
28-Oct. 1), where you’ll enjoy a carnival atmosphere, live
stage shows, a gigantic parade and loads of family fun.
Take a Pokéwalk Through
Downtown Aurora
Pokémon Go players will come together in downtown Aurora
for several scheduled Pokéwalks over the next two months,
with events planned for both August and September.
Organized by Main Street Aurora, the Pokéwalks will allow
participants to explore Aurora’s historic downtown district
while visiting the many Pokéstops and gyms located along the
way. Come meet your fellow Pokémon Go players, grab some
water and snacks, and stop by the Aurora Public Library for
some fun lure modules. Aurora Pokéwalks are planned for
Aug. 11 and Sept. 17 from 7-8:30pm. Info: www.eapld.org.

Indiana is known for its fairs and festivals, and this month, you’ll have
the chance to experience one of the best! That’s because the Indiana
State Fair will take place Aug. 5-21 at the State Fairgrounds in
Indianapolis. The 6th-oldest state fair in the country (it started in 1852),
the fair is a huge multi-day event featuring food, entertainment,
educational programs, interactive agricultural displays and much, much
more. It typically attracts thousands of visitors and is one of the state’s
most popular annual events in terms of attendance. The theme for the
2016 State Fair is “Celebrating Indiana’s Bicentennial” in honor of the
state’s 200th birthday this year.
