This year we were thrilled to have four Rose Award nominees. Please
take a moment to read a description of each nominee, courtesy of those
who nominated them:
Suzanne Ullrich, Head Docent/Volunteer Coordinator, Hillforest
Victorian House Museum
Nominated by Cindy Schuette
Recognition of Service Excellence describes Suzanne’s 14 years of service to Hillforest,
acting as head docent and volunteer coordinator. Thousands of visitors each year
are entertained and informed about 19th-century life along the Ohio River by
Suzanne and her troupe of volunteers she has trained. Suzanne always takes the
time during her tour to see that each visitor’s needs are met, whether it is a question
relating to the museum or about the next place the visitor is planning to go. She goes
above and beyond to see that each visitor has a great touring experience.
Time: 6:30pm – 9:30pm
Cost: Hillforest Members $30.00
Non- members $35.00
For reservations and sponsorship
opportunities, call 812-926-0087
Lenna Dykes, Hotel Housekeeper, Argosy Casino & Hotel
Nominated by Donna Mills
Lenna has been with Argosy Casino & Hotel since April 2003 and has continually
been one of the most energetic and hard working hotel housekeepers we have.
Lenna is a valuable resource to her guests. She answers questions about the property
and the surrounding area, and if she isn’t sure of the answer, she goes out of her way
to find out immediately. She is all about teamwork. She will volunteer to work on
her day off, stay over if needed and help out any way that she can. She embodies not
only the traits of a good employee, but also of a wonderful human being.
Andrew Endicott, Lead Valet, Avascend at Argosy Casino & Hotel
Nominated by Jessica Roberts
When thinking of an employee that exemplifies customer service, attendance,
attitude and enthusiasm, Andrew Endicott was the first to come to mind. Andrew
has been employed with Avascend, located at Argosy Casino & Hotel, for nearly
three years. Andrew is extremely patient and kind with everyone that he encounters;
selfless by nature. Whether they are valet guests, self-parkers, bus groups or team
members, Andrew goes out of his way to help people in any way that he can.
Lynn Kallmeyer, Server, Argosy Casino & Hotel
Nominated by Jody Barker
Lynn is an employee of Argosy Casino’s Food & Beverage Department, and comes
to us with over 25 year’s experience in the food service industry. A devoted mother,
choreographer and softball coach, Lynn still finds the time to fully engage her
customers and make them feel as though they are her number one priority. Ms.
Kallmeyer makes her customers feel welcome with her charm and wit, and has
even performed the Heimlich maneuver on a patron who was choking and nearly
unconscious, thus saving his life. Lynn just considers this action part of her job, and
expected no recognition for it.

A round-up of the latest travel news and tourism trends…
Every May, the travel and tourism industry across America
celebrates National Tourism Week in honor of the economic,
cultural and societal benefits that travel and tourism can have
on us throughout our lifetimes. Beneficial for both individuals
and communities, most Americans believe travel is a birthright,
and its impact can be felt not only in terms of economic
development, but in personal development as well. First
established by Congress in 1983, this year’s National Tourism
Week will be celebrated May 9-17. The theme for this year’s
celebration is “Travel Matters.” For more information on this
annual commemoration, log on to www.tia.org.
