OCTOBER: THE VOCATIONAL MONTH
In 1932, Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor created, The FourWay Test, a code of ethics adopted by Rotary 11 years
later. It is now one of the hallmarks of Rotary .The test
translated into more than 100 languages asks four brief
questions unrelated to culture or religion, a simple
checklist for ethical behavior. It transcends generations
and national borders and has never ceased to be
relevant.
Life in the 21st century is turbulent. Now more than ever, there is a need
of a vision and a knowledge of what is happening around us, a new view
of cultural and religious phenomena, without dividing humankind into
limited and subjective categories. That’s the tenet for a better world and
a challenge for us in Rotary- Rotarians, Partners in Service: who are committed to high ethical
standards and serving without any boundaries to support and promote mutual understanding and
worldwide peace.
Today, it is especially confusing to determine what is really right and wrong. But the fundamentals of
Rotary are bound to universal ethics and humanity without any boundaries between race, religion, or
ethnic background.
The one universal, unsurpassed principle expressed by nearly every major religion and values system is
similar to the golden rule: “Do to others as you would have them do to you”.

Professional Development Service:
Seeks for ways to develop skills and enhance knowledge
Gain knowledge to inspire your future as a bright and enjoyable BAR MAN –host.
Cheers!! To You & Your guest.
PP Anand Tuladhar educates the youth on usage of correct bar glass wares: Drinks are
intended to give pleasure to the drinker. The varieties of drunks are unlimited how does one
know which glass to use and for what drink? When are mixed drinks served?
The content of mixed drink depends very largely on the range of your pocket, the availability of
ideal ingredients and above all your own taste. Mix your drink your way and let the purist rage. Almost
all drinks taste better when served ice cold and wise to chill your until you are ready to fill them .One of
the exception is whisky when served with soda and water, and brandy when served with soda and
water.
1) Cocktail glass: also commonly called a martini glass. Designs range from thin and
delicate to colorful and crazy, and the correct cocktail glass will do wonders for the
presentation of your drink. Typically holds 6 ounces Use a regular or straight stem glass
for martinis and classic drinks. Z-stems or other fancy designs go well with colorful drinks!
2) Cordial glass: A small stemmed glass, generally used for aperitifs and
liqueurs. Holds 2 ounces, Makes a good presentation glass for layered
drinks
3) Collins glass: named after the classic Tom Collins it is a tall, slender glass for larger
recipes is but now used in a wide variety of mixed drinks. Typically holds
12-16 ounces.
4) Double Old Fashioned glass: a regular old-fashioned glass, but double! Also called
a "rocks" glass, a double old-fashioned can be used for many basic highballs and small
mixed drinks. Typically holds 6 to 8 ounces.
“Champagne Glass”
5) Coupe glass: A saucer-shaped glass with a wide, broad rim. Originally invented for
drinking champagne is not to be confused with the coupette glass, which is flatter and
shallower.
6) Flute glass: A tall, slender glass designed to preserve the carbonation of
champagne. Typically holds 6 - 8 ounces. It is great for elegant or romantic drinks.
NB: To be continued

Hey Samir,
Happy Dashain. Now I can sing “Resham firiri” by
heart. Before the Rotaract tour on October 12th 2011,
I wanted to get an insight of Nepali culture.
There are so many differences to explore, that every
single day is a new adventure.
. Nepal is a wonderful country specially the nature, the sociable
people and the "organized chaos" are wonderful. For a German, it is a
big contrast. Only when Western people have visited a developing
country once, they really know about the differences and the things
we can learn of you.
Keep your strong belief and do not forget that helping each other is the most important thing in life.
Thank you for this incredible day! We will stay in contact. If we can help, let us know!

Subject: RE: E-Bulletin, September
It is always a pleasure to peruse the
Kaleidoscope e-bulletin and to learn about
the activities of our Rotaract colleagues. I
found the September 2011 bulleting full of
many inspiring stories.
How nice to see our Rotaract members
providing vision-testing, counseling and
support for school children. The visit and
support to women in prison, and children in
orphanages must have been mutually
satisfying.
I commend the Rotaract for reaching out
and offering a helping hand to these most
vulnerable and neglected members of our
society.
I regret i have not been able to join the
Rotaract activities so far, but hope to do so
in the near future.
-Rtn Buddha writes: My congratulations on another
well-composed Kaleidoscope.
-Rtn M K Jha comments: Congrats for a beautiful
bulletin.
-Rtn OK Malla: Hats off to your great Rotary/
Rotaract work and its achievements.
