SHOWCASES LOCAL TALENT!
The Palace Theatre has seen many national recording artists take the stage over the past 85+ years, but
it was time to highlight the wonderfully talented musicians and vocalists in Westmoreland County. The

9 BANDS BATTLING FOR TWO SPOTS IN THE
2015 T.G.I.S. SUMMER CONCERT SERIES!
The Palace Theatre
Westmoreland Cultural Trust was thrilled to showcase local talent with the inaugural Battle of the Bands
competition on Saturday, April 11, 2015. This brand-new fundraising event of Westmoreland Cultural
Trust was held on stage at The Palace Theatre. 508 attendees came out to enjoy a casual evening of live
music, light bites from Caffe Barista and a full bar. We were thrilled to give them an opportunity to play
in front of a large crowd with a concert-style platform.
FEATURED BANDS INCLUDED: J. McCall Band, The Laurals, Vertigo, Supermoon, Xavier in the
Doghouse, Supper Break String Band, JWP and Jessica Saenz & Band. We were also excited to have a
guest performance from the talented 16-year-old Gabby Barrett.
The audience voted The Laurals, Supper Break String Band and Jessica Saenz & Band into the finals. The
top two bands were voted on by audience and judges, which included Bob Boyle from Bad Boy Blues
Band, Jane DeBone & Mandi O’Leary from Detention, and The Palace Theatre Technical Director Matt
Starry. Jessica Saenz & Band and Supper Break String Band were the winners and have been given the
opportunity to perform during our Thank Goodness It’s Summer (T.G.I.S.) Thursday night free summer
concerts in the S&T Bank Courtyard on August 20 and 27. They also received a complimentary photo
shoot from EBanks Photography.
What a great way to kick start our TGIS concert series. Thanks to all involved in making this event a success.

WESTMORELAND CULTURAL TRUST PRESENTS
HOLLYWOOD
PARTY AT THE PALACE
Social media was encouraged as guests used hashtag
#HPP15 to document the evening. These photos were
displayed in the inner lobby, just above the entrance to
Megan’s Suite. A ‘selfie’ photo station was also available
for our guests to capture memories with fun props and a
professional backdrop.
GREATEST HITS VOL. 10
We were lucky to have slightly warmer temperatures
that evening, but guests sure did heat things up on the
dance floor, underwritten by Scott Ludwick .
Congratulations to our lucky sweepstakes winner, Brian
Schmucker. Brian has chosen the cash prize and will
split his winnings with his bowling partner. We would
also like to congratulate Bud & Ellen Smail, winners of
The Basket of Cheer raffle.
Saturday, February 28, we celebrated the Greatest Hits of Hollywood Party’s past and rolled out the red carpet for
Hollywood Party at The Palace. Two hundred fifty-four attendees joined together and raised just over $30,000.
A very special thank you to our committee, board members, sponsors, underwriters, live entertainment, emcee,
photographer, food vendors, volunteers, staff and attendees for helping us reach this goal. The support was most
impressive and greatly appreciated.
donations. We would also like to thank our local
food vendors Pepperwood Grille, Chef Dato’s Table,
Greensburg Country Club, J Corks, Lupi & Leo, Peking
Garden, Sun Dawg Café, The Cedars and The Wooden
Nickel for their delicious donations and tastings
throughout the evening. Thanks to Caffe Barista, Chef
Mark’s Palate, Peking Garden and The Supper Club for
preparing additional food for our guests.
The Pre-party, which was held on the time-honored Palace Theatre stage was generously underwritten by
Creenan & Baczkowski, PC Attorneys. Guests were welcomed by Trust President Mike Langer, his Assistant and
Event Coordinator Kelli Brisbane, and Development Manager Vonnie Goldsborough. Seated at the grand piano,
Eric Barchiesi set the mood on stage as guests were invited to complimentary champagne and delectable nibbles
prepared and donated by our exclusive pre-party food vendor, Pepperwood Grille. As each guest enjoyed a unique
view of The Palace, they were encouraged to capture a memory of their evening with photographer Erika Banks.
Committee co-chairs, Peg Colosimo and Dawna Saunders, introduced our pre-party host David Newell, best known
as Mr. McFeely in Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, raised a glass in honor of the historical Palace Theatre. David was a
gracious host and autographed photographs for all of our guests.
Paparazzi greeted each guest as they arrived for the
main event at 7pm. Other stars lined the red carpet,
including Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, The Blues
Brothers and Marilyn Monroe. The Megan’s Suite was
decorated in black and white and oozed class and
elegance, the Mezzanine was transformed into what we
called, the sexy side of the 50s, and the upper Megan’s
Suite was transformed into our 60s inspired Lava Java
Lounge. Floral arrangements were beautifully placed
throughout the theatre and were arranged by Gary Pratt
of Le Jardin.
We’d like to thank Cakes by Colby, DeNunzio’s Italian
Restaurants, Gary Pratt, Hoss’s Steak & Sea House,

This year’s entertainment was in support of our mission
to promote the performing arts in the Westmoreland
County region. In honor of our 10th Anniversary, we
featured local talent to represent performing arts
organizations within Westmoreland County that have
made an impact on artistic efforts for more than 10
years. Performers that donated their talents include:
The Sensations (Stage Right!), Courtney Harkins &
Alyssa Bruno (Theatre Factory), Brad Geyer & Tyler
Handford (Geyer Performing Arts Center), Barb Rolla &
Jeremy Kuharcik (Greensburg Civic Theatre), Katie Kerr
& Lisa Bompiani-Smith (Apple Hill Playhouse), and Tom
Sarp & Lisa Bompiani-Smith (Valley Players of Ligonier).
Because of such efforts, we were able to provide a small
stipend to each of the above mentioned organizations
in honor of their accomplishments in Westmoreland
A special thank you to Relevant Community Church and
the Greensburg YMCA for collaborating and allowing
us to offer babysitting services to our attendees for the
evening. The kids had a spectacular time and a party of
their own. We look forward to continuing such efforts
moving forward.
Without the help of our sponsors, this event would not
be possible. It takes a village, or in our case, a county.
We thank all of our sponsors and underwriters for their
generous and ongoing support.
