The following donations have been made in the name of Holy Spirit Parish:
Church – Needy Parish Families: $918.13
Dove – Holy Childhood: $420.00
Snowflake – St. Vincent de Paul: $610.00
Tree – Holy Cross: $595.00

We wish to thank every single person who helped in any way:
making the ornaments, tending the trees, donating gifts and
money, delivering the gifts, counting the money, and assisting
with the distribution. It has been our pleasure to serve the parish
by working on this project.
Dear Friends of Holy Spirit,
2016!! How did it get here so
quickly!! I remember well the build up
to the year 2000 when people were
wondering if all the computers in the
world were going to go crazy! Of course, it did not
happen. It is certainly true that time moves faster as
we grow older!
Young or old, we are all given just one day at a
time. Thus, the precious gift of life is always squeezed
into each day when we have the opportunity to give
life, or take it away; when we can give thanks to God,
or curse the day; when we can notice the people
around us, or ignore them. Life, comes down to
choices that we make everyday. May 2016 be filled
with many choices that produce much life, thankfulness and love.
Before Christmas, I asked if we could remember
the parish this Christmas by putting Holy Spirit on
our Christmas list! We are presently around $50,000
behind in our budget for the year, and although we
are paying the bills, this is a concern. I asked that
whatever is a typical gift to someone, could we share
this with the parish? Thank you to those who did so
(and if anyone is inspired to offer an Epiphany gift, it
would be very appreciated!).
God’s Blessings and Love,
Sincerely, The Giving Tree Committee and Fr. Paul
A Short Study on the
Apostolic Fathers of the Early Church
Mondays Jan, 4th –Feb 8th; 7pm-9pm
A study on the Handling of the Faith produced by Steve
Ray. The history and teachings of several of the earliest
church Fathers ,some of whom overlapped the life of Jesus Christ, is shown in a very enjoyable DVD. It is produced in the Middle East where the historical events took
place, with beautiful photography and music. You get the
feeling that you have gone back
in time. You will find that the
Church was the same now as it
was then. There will be no
charge for materials.

I believe that my life is built upon
layers of little everyday accomplishments. When I
think this way, setting goals and taking small risks
becomes a daily striving to make my life better. Taking some tiny action each day can be much more
effective than weeks and months of inactivity followed by a frenzied attempt to make radical changes
overnight. It certainly leaves me more serene. When
I face a new challenge, I try to take my beginning
wherever it may be and start from there. from Courage

Prayer for the New Year ~
Dear God, help me to stop dwelling on past errors
and disappointments. The future can be overwhelming also. So I need Your help to live in the present, one day at a time. I ask You to guide me
through the hours and minutes of each day, realizing
that nothing can hurt me while I lean upon You. I will
strive to end each day having done my best, with
Your help.

Youth Director

Summer is a distant dream for many of us,
however, now is the time to think about Summer
Vacation plans. Two amazing opportunities that
we will sponsor for our High School Youth this
summer are the Once Bread One Cup Youth Conference (OBOC), and also the Steubenville Youth
Conference. While these two conferences are
vastly different, both are incredible opportunities
for our youth. OBOC is a liturgical leadership conference and is designed to equip high school teens
to participate in liturgical ministries during Mass,
whether that is music ministry, Eucharistic ministry, lecturing, serving, etc. Steubenville is a charismatic and Eucharistic youth conference. More will
be said tonight at our Call-Out Meeting at 7:00. See
you then!
In two weeks, on Sunday, January 17, we will
be providing an opportunity for adoration for our
youth. To conclude our Confirmation Class, we will
have adoration in the Church from 5:15-6:00
pm. This will be a great time to meditate on the
Christ and be enveloped in His Love. All are welcome!
Join us for the Archindy Vigil for Life! At this
event, youth, young adults, and families will
gather on the eve of the March for Life in solidarity with those gathering in Washington, D.C. to
pray for the sanctity human life and to celebrate
Life! Hosted at Ss. Peter and Paul Cathedral on
Thursday, January 21, 2016, beginning at 7:15 pm,
the Archindy Vigil for Life will feature music by
Matt Faley, a keynote address by our Shepherd,
Archbishop Joseph Tobin, pro-life witnesses, and
an opportunity to join others in praying that a culture of life may flourish in our country. Group

students who have not

Each year, we offer special Baptism classes

If your child has not yet been baptized, it is important to
consider this option before your child begins 2nd Grade,
since the primary focus of the religious education classes
in 2nd Grade is First Reconciliation and First Communion.
Older children who have not yet been baptized are also
welcome!
These classes are open to all parishioners of Holy Spirit.
Baptism is a prerequisite for both First Reconciliation and
First Communion.
Special Baptism classes are for the child and one parent
or guardian, starting in January.

Honduras Free Will Offering
Thank you for your continued generosity to the people of
San Francisco de Asís parish in Texiguat, Honduras.
Due to your generosity, Padre Juan Pablo was able to buy a
new 4-wheel drive truck for the parish so he can serve the people in Texiguat and the 40 villages located in the rugged terrain
of this mountainous area of Honduras. Padre Juan Pablo was
so pleased upon his visit to Holy Spirit last month that you were
able to provide safe transportation for his priestly duties in San
Francisco de Asís parish. You are making a difference!
Great News! You can now make our
Honduras Free Will Offerin online!
Have you ever found yourself without
any cash or not the right denomination of cash or
you were out of town that weekend in order to
make your Honduras Free Will Offering on the third
weekend of the month? Problem solved. You can
now make your contribution online through the Holy
Spirit web site just like you make your regular
weekly contributions or your Renovation fund payments. It is simple to go to the Holy Spirit site and
choose “Giving”, log in, and select “Honduras
Free Will Offering” under the payment type you
wish to make. You can do it manually each month
or put it on a recurring basis monthly for your convenience. This also captures your donation for
your Holy Spirit tax donation records. If you still
prefer to give cash monthly contributions in the
baskets after mass on the third weekend, we will
still be there to gladly receive your gift and express
our appreciation for our friends at San Francisco de
Asís parish in Texiguat, Honduras. As always, may
God bless you for your generosity!
