Creating new
value with global
technology
Over the past 70 years, Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction (HHIC) has continued to
take on new challenges to create new value while shaping the history of shipbuilding in Korea. We marked a milestone in 2006 by completing Subic Shipyard, a world class shipyard
capable of handling 500,000 tons of steel, in a record time of 18 months. Two years later,
we started designing Mindanao Shipyard which will have the capacity to handle 700,000
tons of steel. With additional facility investments planned, we are laying the groundwork to
leap forward as a builder of ultra large vessels and specialized construction company. Our
facilities span from Yeongdo Shipyard, which is the cradle of Korea’s shipbuilding industry,
to our yards in Ulsan and our factories in Dadaepo and Incheon. Harnessing our vast experience, we will continue to create new value with shipyards boasting high levels of economic efficiency and productivity.

HHIC SHIPYARD EPC PROJECT
HHIC’s shipbuilding and construction divisions under Hanjin Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. and
Korea Engineering Consultants Corp. are combining their knowhow to carve out a new future with investors. The Hanjin EPC Team represents the culmination of insight to navigate
demanding investment environments, high investment efficiency and productivity, short
construction periods, and forward-looking designs. The team brings together the best expertise of the HHIC Group. Drawing on our success with Subic Shipyard, we look forward
to working together with new investors to write a new history in shipbuilding industries.
Building
History
New shipbuilding techniques hold the key to designing efficient shipyards
We conquered spatial constraints by using dams to build ships that are larger than the dock, SKID system
to shorten the dock working period, and underwater welding for stern block to surmount time limits. We
built a massive shelter on the dock at Subic Shipyard to continue work even in frequent rains. The EPC
Team will construct first class shipyards with optimal facilities design that bring new technology to fruition.
Writing a new chapter in shipbuilding history
We ventured into unchartered territory and had faith when others were skeptical.
Our achievements helped write shipbuilding history.
The high caliber talents of HHIC’s shipbuilding and construction divisions
and Korea Engineering Consultants Corp. have joined forces to open up a new chapter.

West Coast Expressway, Busan New Port, and Suwon Private-Capital Railway Station Building. We have also taken our comprehensive engineering knowhow to make inroads into overseas markets such as the Philippines, Guam, Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Based on our global competitiveness and proven success, we are extending our reach into the global construction market.
