Johannes Amos Comenius war einer der ersten großen europäischen Pädagogen. Deshalb tragen auch
die europäischen Schulprojekte seinen Namen. Comenius sagte einmal:
„Erfahrung und Menschenkenntnis sind die beiden Hauptquellen der Klugheit.“
Das Projekt WET - Water Europe´s Treasure greift genau diese beiden Punkte auf: Erfahrung und Menschenkenntnis.
Das Thema Wasser als wichtigsten Rohstoff Europas bot vielfältige Möglichkeiten für Lehrer und Schüler
nicht nur theoretisch zu lernen, sondern durch persönliche Erfahrungen zu erkennen, wie wichtig die gemeinsame europäische Vorsorge für diesen Rohstoff ist. So wurden Wasserwerke besucht, die Wasserqualität
untersucht, Wasserwege erkundet, die Bedeutung von Gewässern für den Tourismus festgestellt und im
Kunstunterricht „Wasser-Bilder“ gestaltet. Die Erfahrungen beschränkten sich allerdings nicht nur auf das
Thema Wasser. In vielfältiger Weise konnte der Umgang mit IT-Medien eingeübt werden und ganz besonders wichtig, Schüler wie Lehrer trainierten und verbesserten ihre Sprachfertigkeit im Englischen, der gemeinsamen europäischen Umgangssprache.
Dies erleichtert den zweiten Schwerpunkt, die Begegnung mit
und das Kennenlernen von Menschen aus verschiedenen europäischen Ländern. Während der Projekttreffen kamen sich
Schüler und Lehrer näher. Es entstanden viele länderübergreifende Kontakte und Freundschaften, die weit über die Projekttreffen hinaus Bestand haben und auch gepflegt werden.
Im Geiste Comenius` ist und war dieses Projekt ein weiterer
kleiner Schritt hin zu einem gemeinsamen Europa. Für mich
als Koordinator war es eine große Freude dies mitgestalten zu
dürfen.
Mein Dank gilt an dieser Stelle allen Schülern und Lehrern, die
sich an unseren Partnerschulen für das Projekt engagierten,
und mir damit die Arbeit leicht machten. Ich wünsche mir, dass
das Projekt nicht bei diesem Schritt stehenbleibt. Wie ein Stein,
der ins Wasser geworfen wird, soll es Wellen schlagen, sich
weiter verbreiten und Europa weiter zusammen führen.

A coordinator is always looking for the right way.
Johannes Amos Comenius was one of the first European educationalists. That's the reason why European school projects are named after him. Once Comenius said:
„Experience and empathy are the two major sources of wisdom.“
Experience and empathy – these are the focal points of the projekt WET - Water Europe´s Treasure.
Water as an important raw material offers various possibilities for teachers and students to find out how important it is to take care of this common European treasure. Knowledge and practical experiences were completed by creativity. Water treatment plants were visited, water quality was checked, European waterways
were followed on maps. Water is a big attractor for tourism and a fascinating topic for artists. Doing all this we
made lots of experiences with ICT. Teachers and students trained and improved their English language skills.
That is very important, because English is the language for communication in Europe.
This helps with the second point - empathy. The project brought together teachers and students from the participating European countries. Lots of contacts were made and close friendships that will survive the project hopefully.
In terms of Comenius the project is and was a little step forward to a common Europe. It was a great pleasure
for me, as the coordinator of the project, to bring forward this step.
Thanks so much to everyone who was engaged in the project and helped it to succed. In my dreams this project is like the waves from a stone thrown into the water. You cant' see the stone anymore, but its waves are
still spreading and so the idea should spread throughout Europe and bring it closer together.
