Introduction
SIAC Construction Ltd. is a pioneer and market leader in slipform concrete technology in Ireland.
We introduced the first slipform machine to Ireland in 1981. Our considerable technical expertise and

Health and Safety
Health and Safety is a fundamental and core
management responsibility at all levels in
SIAC Construction Ltd and it is company
policy to ensure that all activities are
executed and managed in accordance with
its Company Safety Statement and current
Health & Safety Regulations.
Our slipform paving division operates
its own specific Safety Statement and
Policy, to reflect the risks associated
with the slipform operation. We have
a comprehensive Health & Safety
management system. We benchmark
our Health &Safety performance
against the best industry standards
and recognise the need for continuous
improvement
SIAC is one of a very select number
of companies that have been
awarded Safe – T Cert accreditation.
This is in recognition of the company’s
health and safety management
performance and standards.
SIAC has also been granted awards
from the National Irish Safety Organisation
(NISO) and the British Safety Council (BSC).

Environmental Management
SIAC is committed to a policy of
environmental protection and to minimise
the environmental impact of its operation.
In addition to the Safe - T Cert, SIAC is
certified with ISO 14001 which is a widely
recognised international standard for
environmental management.
Concrete has been proven to be a
sustainable and extremely durable material
with proven carbon emission savings to that
of steel throughout its life cycle.
Quality Assurance
Our management systems aim to exceed
the requirements of the international quality
assurance standard ISO 9001:2000.
These management systems ensure that
clients’ requirements are met and that
this can be demonstrated at any point in
a project.
Our slipform operation has been
independently accredited to the standard
of ISO 9001:2000. In addition to rigorous
external auditing by independent accreditation
bodies, there is an on-going process of
internal auditing at project and head-office
level. As part of this process, we formally
assess our suppliers and sub-contractors
to ensure that the service they provide
is also in compliance with our clients'
requirements.

In-Situ Concrete Barrier
SIAC Construction Ltd is the leading In-Situ
Concrete Barrier installer in Ireland and has
been at the forefront of concrete barrier
installation since its inception in Ireland in
2002. SIAC were the first company to
install Concrete Step Barrier in the UK and
Ireland and to date has placed in excess of
300 km of Concrete Barrier equating to
100,000 m3 of concrete.
Standard containment for median works
would be H2 W2 with a more robust
version of H4a available to protect
structures and railway sites from heavy
traffic encroachment. In conjunction with
the correct foundation, the concrete barrier
can be modified and used as an earth or
water retaining structure while maintaining
its original vehicle containment properties.
All barrier placed on public roads complies
with EN 1317 testing criteria and is
installed under the highest quality controls.

Concrete Interface Solutions
We are frequently required to provide
solutions that facilitate our slipform products
interface with existing infrastructure as well
as connecting to other restraint systems.
We have developed our own shuttering
system with custom-made steel forms
allowing the interface works to be carried
out more safely and efficiently.
Steel Barrier
SIAC is licensed to manufacture and install
an emergency crossover barrier system.
This removable steel barrier is designed to
allow for emergency access from the opposite
carriageway if required. The containment
level of this barrier is identical to that provided
for by the Concrete Step Barrier, H2 W2.
The opening created by the easy removal of
the steel barrier is sufficient to provide for
full-scale traffic contra flow arrangements in
emergency situations and for the purpose of
carrying out maintenance works.
“
I hereby wish to confirm that SIAC have completed a number of public work
contracts as listed below under the supervision of the Engineering Staff of
Roadbridge and Resident Engineers as per Project Appointments.
1. Gorey Bypass - 2006 / 2007
2. N9/N10 Phase 3 Kilcullen to Carlow - 2008 / present
On these contracts SIAC have completed all works in a very professional manner
and to very high standard and have consistently met the tight programme
constraints that we have come to expect of them. I would have no hesitation
in recommending them for any works in the future.

Drainage Solutions
A wide range of drainage solutions are
available based on the design requirements
and compliance with the relevant
specification. Open systems such as
Surface Water Channel providing widths
ranging from 350mm to 2.0m are a
frequently used detail. Closed systems
such as Slot drain or Kerb & Slot are an
ideal option where space is at a premium.
An additional benefit in using one or a
combination of our drainage solutions is
a significant reduction in the number of
catchpits required on a longitudinal stretch
of highway. The diameter of the pipe
section ranges from 250mm to 450mm
based on hydrological design criteria.
“
SIAC was employed to install Concrete
Barrier, Kerbing, Slot Drain and Variable
Barrier on the N4 Lucan By-pass, we found
their work of a good quality and professional
to deal with.
JONS Civils would confidently recommend
SIAC for any slipform works in the future.

Kerbing
Slipform Kerbing has long been the
edge restraint product of choice for
road construction and site development
in Ireland. The key benefits it generates
over conventional types of kerbing solution
on the market are:
“
Bowen Construction employed SIAC Construction Ltd to carry
out 9 km of slipform kerbing works on the car park of Mahon Point
Shopping Centre and to install the first section of Concrete Step
Barrier in the UK & Ireland on the N25 in Cork.
I found their knowledge, expertise and service as a specialist
sub-contractor brought us peace of mind and the quality of the
work was of a high standard.
Bowen Construction are happy to recommend SIAC Construction Ltd
for any slipform works in the future.
Brian Barron (Bowen Construction)
”
•
Versatility: slipform kerb can be formed
to any practical shape or height required.
•
Speed: hourly outputs greatly exceed
those of conventional pre-cast products,
making the process extremely
commercially competitive.
•
Health & Safety: no exposure to manual
handling and possible heavy lifting injuries.
•
Durability: air entrained concrete has
proven less susceptible to frost damage
versus other concrete mixes.
