Check list:
1. 8 small wooden blocks
(4 of one colour, 4 of another)
2. clear tape
3. white sticker paper
4.markers

3
Place the four blue blocks together, and do the same
with the green blocks. The coloured and taped block
sides should face up.
Transforming Cube
Find 8 small wooden blocks
similar to the ones in the photo.
Now it’s time to connect the blue and green blocks. Pick up
both sets of blocks and make one big cube – colours should
be on the front and the back. The pieces of tape you just put
on the non-coloured blocks in Step 5 should be on the bottom
and the outside. See where Jeremie is pointing in the photo?
Cut white sticker paper into small
squares the same size as the cubes.
Cover every single cube on all sides
with the sticker paper.
Tape two blue blocks together (colour side up),
then tape the other two blue blocks together.
Do the same with the green blocks.

5
Turn the blue blocks so the taped
colours are now on the outside.
Do the same to the green blocks.
Stick a piece of tape along the
bottom blocks of the two cubes.
7

Voilà! You
have created
a transforming
cube! Try it out
by opening and
closing the cube
different ways.
Take two pieces of tape
and tape the blocks
together along the top.
10 11
It’s time to Artzooka
your transforming
cube! Draw pictures on
each side of the cube.
Try funny faces, a robot
body, or anything else
you like.
Look at the cute little guy Jeremie drew. When
Jeremie flips the cube, the guy disappears!
The fantastic thing about the transforming cube is
that every time you flip it, you see a new picture.

Check list:
1.newspaper
2. 5 large elastics
3. 2 cotton swabs
4. 3 small elastics
5. modelling clay
(2 different colours)
6. 2 marbles
7. 2 super small balloons
8. roll of masking tape
9.pen
10.toothpick
11. 2 huge straws
12.tape
13. party streamers
(different colours)
14.scissors
8
The critter’s nose and
mouth are next! Wrap an
elastic around a small ball of
modelling clay, then press the
elastic into the clay – this will
be the critter’s mouth. Use a
pen to poke two small nostril
holes in the clay.
3
Insert two cotton swabs under two of
the elastics. Fold the ends of the swabs
together, then wrap a small elastic around
them. The swabs will anchor the critter’s
head to its body.
Wrap five large elastics around
the newspaper ball to hold the
critter’s body together.
5
To make the critter’s head,
mould a ball of modelling clay
around the cotton swabs.
7
Your critter is ready to stand
up! Make two shoes out of
modelling clay, then stick the
straws into the shoes.
2
To make the critter’s body,
crumple three pieces of
newspaper into a ball.

6
Now for the critter’s eyes and ears! Stick
a small marble in the end of a balloon;
the marble should be just peeking out
of the top of the balloon. Repeat with
the other balloon. The openings with the
marbles will be the eyes and the round
ends of the balloons will be the ears.
To attach the nose
and mouth to the
critter’s head, poke
the toothpick into
the front of the
head until just half
of the toothpick is
showing. Slide the
nose and mouth
onto the toothpick.
9
Tip: To stop the critter’s body from moving
around while you work, set it in a roll of
masking tape.
10
You’re almost done! Take a little strip
of modelling clay and press it over
the balloons, just behind the marbles
– this will separate the eyes from
the ears and cover the elastic.
Slide a straw under one of the elastics
on the bottom of the critter’s body
so there is a small end on one side
of the elastic and a long end on the
other. Fold the short end of the straw
back and tape it to the long end. Do
the same with the second straw.

To make your critter a true party
decoration critter, add colourful
fur! Cut party streamers into
small pieces. Attach the streamers
to the critter’s body by inserting
them under the elastics.
Use a small elastic to
attach the eyes and
ears to the top of
the head, placing the
elastic just behind
the marbles.
If you like, decorate the critter’s shoes
using white modelling clay, buttons, or
whatever you have around your home.
Here is an example of what the
critter will look like once you’ve
covered it in streamers. Fantastic!
What kind of critter will you Artzooka?

You can make more critters with old audio
tapes and balloons. Aren’t they the cutest!
Check list:
1. large plastic bottle
2. wooden spoon
3.tape
4. mixture of white
glue and water
5.paintbrush
6. tissue paper
7. any colour paint
8. piece of fluffy cloth
9.glue
10. 2 condiment cups
11. black marker
12. construction paper
(different colours)
13. cereal box
14.scissors
15. old shirt and
pair of gloves
16. large elastic
56
Give the puppet hair by
gluing a piece of fluffy cloth
onto the puppet’s head.
1
To make the puppet’s head and neck, slide
the bottom of the wooden spoon into the
plastic bottle, then tape it really tight.
3
12
Use a paintbrush to spread the
glue mixture onto the bottle.
4
7
Once the bottle
is dry, paint it any
colour you like.
Silly eyes need a silly mouth
and nose. Cut different
types of noses and mouths
out of construction paper.
Mix and match to see what
combination you like best.
10 11
To make the puppet’s body, use a cereal
box. Cut the top off the box and make
a slit in the box’s bottom.
For the puppet’s hands, use an old pair of gloves.
Stuff tissue paper into one glove and use an
elastic to attach the hand to the shirt sleeve.
2
Lay a strip of tissue paper on top of
the glue mixture that you brushed
onto the bottle. Cover the entire
bottle with tissue paper—this will
make the bottle easier to paint. Set
aside the bottle to dry.
A puppet needs silly googly eyes! Colour the edges of two
condiment cups with a black marker, then cut two circles
out of white paper. (The circles should be small enough to
fit in the cups). Use a marker to draw eyeballs on the white
circles. Tape the eyes inside the cups.
8 9
Use tape to stick the
eyes, nose, and mouth
onto the puppet’s face.

13
Slide the wooden spoon
down into the slit on top
of the box.
Stick your hand in the other glove. Turn the
puppet over and slide your gloved hand
into a cut that you made in the shirt sleeve.
14
Show off your new puppet buddy to family and friends!

Dress the puppet using an
old shirt you don’t wear
anymore. Open the shirt, put
the puppet’s body inside, and
button up the shirt.
Put your non-gloved hand under the
puppet’s shirt and grab the spoon.
The puppet is ready to talk and play!
