Highlights from the Headmistress
Dear Parents
Welcome back to our final academic term for 2015. We have all settled down well this
term and the teachers and staff have really made sure that things are running smoothly. We have been able to get back into the swing of things fairly easily. I'm always very
grateful to the students and the staff for taking their work seriously enough so that when
we work, we work and when we play, we play. That is how life should be!
With the pleasant smattering of the first summer rains this week and the sporting programme slowly coming to an end, the final exams are looming for our Grade 4 to 11 children. I hope every child is in the process of preparing, or at least planning to study, so
that they will all dance in the academic rain and not wait for the academic super storm
(more commonly referred to as the academic report!). The staff and I sincerely hope that
the examinations will be a pleasant experience for you and your child.
Today all the Gr 5 - 11 Exam booklets will be published on the Homework APP and the Gr
4 booklet mailed via Campaign Manager. Please spend some time perusing them with
your child/ren; assist them with their time management and study timetables. Please feel
free to speak to a teacher if you are unsure of anything.
The Matric Breakfast was held in our canteen for the first time and it was enjoyed by all –
we are forging ahead and establishing traditions that all our students will look forward to.
The Valediction was a bitter sweet affair as we bid farewell to our first class of Matrics,
some who have been with the School since the opening in Grade 9. Congratulations to all
those that have achieved their goals and our dedicated staff that helped them reach their
true potential. My congratulations to Patrick Chang, who as the Dux Scholar, received a
scholarship from Dr Pieter Clase (University of Pretoria representative). My sincere gratitude to Mrs Sue Maher, Ms Adrienne Slabber and Mrs Inge Marais for all their hard work in
arranging our Matric functions this week.
We hosted the Stage 5s in the Junior Preparatory assembly this morning to hand over their
invitation to the Grade 1 Orientation day. This is an important mile stone in their school
career. Our Grade 1 staff look forward to spending time with them on the 30th of October.
We closed our week with an amazing Music Ensemble assembly. Our Senior Preparatory
and College students showcased their amazing talent. A special word of thanks to our Music Department, ably led by Mrs Elma Dammann and Ms Marelize Muller. The students did
us proud!
Wishing you a wonderful spring weekend with your children.
Warm regards
Liséttè

fortunate. With your participation and support of this initiative, you will certainly impact the
lives of our scholarship recipients.
