Notes from the Director...
Dear Seniors,
What an amazing kickoff to
summer at the Center. With the
incredible dedication of our Clubs
and the generosity of many supporters, our Annual Fundraiser was
a tremendous success! Our deepest
gratitude to all who help our program thrive. Welcome to all of our
new members who have jumped
right in and become involved in so
many ways bringing energy,
warmth and enthusiasm. If you
see new faces that don’t recognize,
say “Hello” and get to know them.
In June I celebrated two
years as your Director, and as always I humbly declare that “I
couldn’t have done it without you.”
In this issues my words are few to
make room for the many contributors. Enjoy and have a beautiful
summer!
Warm Regards,
Lisa

Where did the time go?
It is summer already.
An anniversary year for the director of the
center.
Farewell to half a year that was filled with activities. What a menu! To name a few items, the
performance of Roots and Branches, the enjoyable and productive fund raiser event and the
coup de gras, the clubs’ vacation luncheon. What
a way to end the semester, grades pending.
Hopefully the fall will usher in new and sustained
interest, energy and involvement in the life of
the center.

The following was noted on a small plaque in an Amish
store in the 1970’s:

Thought of the Week
What a LIFE we LIVE
Have u taken Note of the CO-INCIDENCE OF LIFE:
1. CHURCH has 6 letters so does MOSQUE.
2. BIBLE has 5 letters so does QURAN.
3. LIFE has 4 letters so does DEAD.
4. HATE has 4 letters, so does LOVE….
5. ENEMIES has 7, so does FRIENDS.
6. LYING has 5, so does TRUTH.
7. HURT has 4, so does HEAL.
8. NEGATIVE has 8, so does POSITIVE.
9. FAILURE has 7, so does SUCCESS.
10. BELOW has 5, but so does ABOVE
11. CRY has 3 letters so does JOY.
12. ANGER has 5 so does HAPPY.
13. RIGHT has 5 so does WRONG.
14. RICH has 4 so does POOR.
15. FAIL has 4 so does PASS
16. KNOWLEDGE has 9 so does IGNORANCE
Are they all Co-incidence? We should Choose wisely, this
means LIFE is like a Double –Edged Sword.
If you think it is your alarm clock that woke you up this
morning, try putting it beside a dead body and you will realize that it is the Grace of God that woke you up. If you are
grateful to God, share this to all your friends to inform them
that it is JUST BY THE GRACE OF GOD that we are alive

THANKS
IF YOU WOKE UP THIS MORNING WITH MORE HEALTH
THAN ILLNESS…YOU ARE MORE BLESSED THAN THE
MILLION WHO WILL NOT SURVIVE THIS WEEK
IF YOU HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THE DANGER OF
BATTLE, THE LONELINESS OF IMPRISONMENT, THE
AGONY OF TORTURE, OR THE PANGS OF STARVATION…YOU ARE AHEAD OF 500 MILLION PEOPLE IN
THE WORLD.
IF YOU CAN ATTEND A CHURCH MEETING WITHOUT
FEAR OF HARASSMENT, ARREST, TORTURE, OR
DEATH…YOU ARE MORE BLESSED THAN THREE BILLION PEOPLE IN THE WORLD.
IF YOU HAVE FOOD IN THE REFRIGERATOR, CLOTHES
ON YOUR BACK, A ROOF OVERHEAD AND A PLACE TO
SLEEP…YOU ARE RICHER THAN 75% OF THIS WORLD.
IF YOU HAVE MONEY IN THE BANK, IN YOUR WALLET,
AND SPARE CHANGE IN A DISH SOMEPLACE…YOU ARE
AMONG THE TOP 8% OF THE WORLD’S WEALTHY.
IF YOU HOLD UP YOUR HEAD WITH A SMILE ON YOUR
FACE AND TRULY THANKFUL…YOU ARE BLESSED BECAUSE THE MAJORITY CAN, BUT MOST DO NOT.
We Remember Sophia…
~Submitted by Joy Rose
She couldn’t have known how little time she had, but it’s just as
if she did.
Shortly after she retired, Sophia joined the Senior Center and
immersed herself in as many activities as she could. She became a club member, went on trips, performed with then drama
group, played table games and her favorite bingo!
She was so proud of the lovely green fruit bowl she made in ceramics class. Next came a fine football for her grandson, which
unfortunately was claimed by the Kiln. Sorry, Hunter.
Sophia had a vibrant spirit and a good sense of humor, sometimes wry.
As a member of the new drama group she practiced with fervor.
Then she took ill and assessed that she would not be able to
perform in the Cabaret, but hoped to attend.
Sadly, she passed on, and the performance was on her birthday. How uncanny!
We sorely miss Sophia and our condolences were conveyed to
her devastated family.
What a fitting tribute to her memory to have a leaf installed on
the “Tree of Life” in our vestibule.
Rest in Peace, Sophia!
IF YOU CAN HOLD SOMEONE’S HAND, HUG THEM OR
EVEN TOUCH THEM OR EVEN TOUCH THEM ON THE
SHOULDER…YOU ARE BLESSED BECAUSE YOU CAN
OFFER GOD’S HEALING TOUCH.

IF YOU CAN READ THIS MESSAGE, YOU JUST RECEIVED
A DOUBLE BLESSING IN THAT SOMEONE WAS THINKING OF YOU, AND FURTHERMORE, YOU ARE MORE
BLESSED THAN OVER TWO BILLION PEOPLE IN THE
WORLD THAT CANNOT READ AT ALL.
HAVE A GOOD DAY, COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS, AND
PASS THIS ALONG TO REMIND EVERYONE ELSE HOW
BLESSED WE ALL ARE.
