Chapter Directors Corner
We had a great showing of Qsters at
our final Chapter meeting of the year.
Unfortunately we had some issues with
service and getting served in a timely
manner. Robin talked to both the manager
and the general manager and we will have more servers
helping us next time. It has been a learning process for
both sides, but I think we are getting it all together.
Robin and I had intended to go to the Vroom exhibit afterwards but a dead battery on her bike and grandchildren who wanted to see Grandma and Grandpa changed
our plans. We trust everyone enjoyed the ride and exhibit. As always, we appreciate Mike and Linda Bates
planning the ride and taking care of all the details. And
also a big thank you to those who volunteered to be the
front and back doors on this ride and all the rides
throughout this year. Maybe since I’ve started digging
on this vein of gold I should continue the appreciation
we have for all those who have volunteered throughout
the year to make chapter Q. We have watched the slow
transition from the “originals” who started the chapter to
the new enthusiasts who have jumped in to keep everything going. We have all seen the chapters who fail in
this transition and they end up disbanding. We are so
thankful that our members have taken on the responsibilities of organizing and running the chapter. A volunteer group such as ours is only as strong as those who
jump in and help make it happen.
4
Starting with the first of the year we will start our
annual visits to all the chapters to promote and advertise
our annual Q Rendezvous fundraiser. We are so excited
to have it at the park in Silverado Canyon this year and
we are hoping it turns out to be a fun and picturesque
setting for the event. I think we will be doing a similar
barbecue style of event like we did last year. It ended
being a big success as far as raising money for the chapter and I think we managed to feed a lot of people in a
timely manner.
So, a Happy New Year to you all. Stay healthy, stay
safe and come ride with us whenever you get the opportunity. January 1st is the first blank page of a 365 page
book. Write a good one.

Assistant Chapter Directors Message
By the time you read this the
year has come to an end. I hope every
one’s Holidays were filled with happiness and joy. We had a great turnout at
our Christmas Party and we also had a
little scare with our beloved George.
Good to hear he is back on his feet and we can have
Martini time again soon. Q has embraced Robin and
myself for our first year as CD and ACD with all the respect and support that CA-1Q is known for. We appreciate your jumping in the roller coaster with us and helping us feel welcome, and we appreciate your adjustments as we make our way into the new year. We strive
to make things as smooth as possible and are working to
make things enjoyable for all of the Q Friends and Family in the year to come. We have an awesome staff that
stands up to any challenge and overcomes it. We will be
very sad to see Jim and Lynda Brightman leave and go
to Arizona, but wish them all the happiness they can endure in their endeavors. They have done a fantastic job
with Member Enhancement and Motor Awareness. We
are looking forward to this year with a change of venue
for the Q Rendezvous and plans are already in motion to
make it fun for all to attend. If you have any comments
or suggestions feel free to attend any of the Team meeting found on your calendar as well as the comment section of the website.
Thank you again for a wonderful year and a new
one to come.

MEMBER ENHANCEMENT
Happy New Year 2015!
Oh man, so many things to look
forward to as the New Year begins;
what are your hopes and dreams?
What as a chapter would you like to
see us accomplish? You can let us know your ideas,
drop a line on the Q web site, or better yet why not
come and join us at a monthly planning meeting. Jim
and I wish this year is everything you aspire.
We have enjoyed being your Member Enhancement
Coordinators for the past year. We never knew getting
involved would make being a part of “GWRRA” that
much more fun and for Jim and I being a part of Q will
always be a treasured experience in our life.
As the New Year begins we are passing the torch to
Carol Mendoza and would like to thank her for accepting the position of Member Enhancement Coordinator.
Carol is a wonderful, funny, and very talented woman.
Chapter Q is very lucky to have a member that is willing
to wear so many hats. Please support Carol in her new
endeavor.
Jim and Lynda Brightman
The new year is here, and I hope I can do this position justice and fulfill it’s responsibilities . I know that
I will have plenty of help from our members. Thank
you in advance.
Have fun and be safe

California District Directors
Happy New Year!!
The presents have all been exchanged, the boxes and wrapping paper
discarded, and the tree packed away for
another year. Hopefully, you were on
Santa’s “nice” list and got everything you deserved, if
not, next year work harder to get off the “naughty” list
and guarantee yourself getting everything on your wish
list (it worked for Princess). Now it’s time to take a
peek at this year’s GWRRA’s activities and it looks like
another full year of fun!
On the 24th of this month, California has its annual
Officer’s Conference at the Double Tree hotel in Bakersfield. Most of us think of it as an officer’s only
meeting because all of the chapters’ officers are supposed to attend, but the meeting is open to all members
and, yes, the $25 lunch fee and hotel costs are legitimate
expenses that the chapters are expected to pay for if
their bank balance permits. The meeting runs all day
and then Princess and I will be hosting a party in our
suite with food and beverages. Last year we had about
75 people at the party and we are hoping to double that
number this year. Please let your Chapter Director
know by the 12th of this month so they can get us an accurate headcount for lunch.
10
Last year, Princess and I were able to attend every
chapter’s rally, the Officer’s Conference in Bakersfield,
Region F’s Convention in Utah, the Horizon’s Certification Training course in Riverside, the “Lead Like You
Ride” Certification Course in St. George, the California
District Convention in Agoura Hills, and Wing Ding in
Madison Wisconsin. Combined with the weekends I
teach at StreetMasters and I think we were home for five
weekends in all of 2014. Like many of you, we still
work full-time and, fortunately, our real estate business
has started to pick up. This means that this year we will
not be able to attend all of the events so we were left
with the dilemma of how to decide which chapter events
to attend. Out of fairness, we will be attending the
chapters that did not hold a rally last year: chapters
CA1-S, CA2-A, CA2-J, CA2-Q, and CA2-S and then
we will randomly draw 4 chapters at the Officer’s conference and will commit to attending those events as
well.
Just a quick reminder to all Chapter Directors and
Treasurers that your yearly financial statements are to be
submitted at the Officer’s Conference and the receipt for
your 990-N needs to be submitted to Princess by the
12th.
Until we see you in Bakersfield, ride well and ride often.

My Thoughts on New Year’s Resolutions
Every New Year I plan on following through with
a number of resolutions. The normal, I will lose weight
and get into shape. I will be kinder and make sure that I
don’t forget anyone's birthday, Anniversaries, etc.
This goes well till, oh maybe, the afternoon of
January 2. Sigh. I try to make lists on my phone, but
never seem to get it all done. I promise myself I will
make some time for myself everyday. I promise myself
that I will write a paragraph for each rally, party, and all
family gatherings so that my Christmas letter will only
be an edit. Somehow, none of these things seem to get
done.
This Year I only am going to have one Resolution.
That is the same idea I have everyday when I get up.
Do my best, and if that doesn’t work on any one particular day, try again tomorrow. Best of luck to you with
whatever your Resolutions may be.
Carol Delmar-Mendoza

Tour Directors Report
A new year is upon us and I hope it
doesn't pass as quickly as 2014. We had
some fun rides this year after the
monthly Q meetings, finding new roads
and revisiting old favorites. December's
ride took us to Glendale to Forest Lawn Cemetery for an
exhibit of vintage motorcycles and memorabilia - The
Art of Vroom. The view of the valley was incredible
since it was a clear, crisp day.
After January's meeting we will take a ride around
the Palos Verde Peninsula. Maybe we will see some
whales this time. Even if we don't, we will certainly see
beautiful ocean vistas.
February we will ride to the Bates Nut Farm.
Wishing you all a healthy and happy New Year!
Mike and Linda Bates

Chapter Educator
Happy New Year!!
This month we are covering group riding. Which is similar to, but is not team
riding. The group rides together but you are responsible
for your own safety; ride your own ride.
The proper group ride is two second following distance from the bike directly in front of you and one second from the staggered bike in front of you. There are
situations where the group or the leader may be riding in
a way that an individual is not comfortable with and
may back off from the bike in front of them. If this occurs the back door should notice and ask if there is
something wrong, if communication is available, and
relay the situation to the front. If the bike does not have
communication, try hand signals with them or just radio
to the front to slow or stop. If anyone is uncomfortable
in a group situation and cannot get the group to resolve
and accommodate them, then bail out of the group. The
back door is supposed to see that and go with you. If
you know there is another group behind you can wave
them on and slow and join the other group if someone is
more comfortable there.
Be safe and enjoy the ride!

Bonehead for November
Roger, Roger, Roger. When are
you going to learn to not open thy
mouth and insert foot when it comes
to Q women?
This months Bonehead is
awarded yet again to Roger Taylor,
whom as we all know, says the first
thing that pops into his head. Normally this would be a
great trait for some, but Roger has not learned the fine
art of "Yes Dear". While having a conversation about
how Dave Black likes to upgrade things every few
years, Roger's first statement is, “Then why have you
not turned in Robin for an upgrade?” Wow, even I had
to sit back in awe at that comment. We all know Roger
has a big heart and we love him for it, so hopefully after
your countless Boneheads maybe, just maybe, you will
learn when and where to say the words that come rolling
out of your mouth on a whim.
Congratulations Roger !
