provides care to those with dementia
at the Elant at Goshen Adult Home.
Amy assists residents with all aspects
of their daily living activities. She
provides personalized attention for each
of the resident’s unique and individual
routines. Depending on the needs of
the person or the level of cognitive
ability, she may assist in a wide range of
daily living activities such as, dressing,
bathing, meal service, assistance with
medication administration, as well
as providing one-on-one or group
therapeutic activities.
“The residents’ children are
comforted by the fact that when we
speak to their parents we listen to what
they have to say, our relationship is
fostered with both the residents and
their families” says Amy.
That familiarity with the individual
resident also has value when assessing
their medical, social, or emotional
needs. For example, Amy, along with
the other staff members, can readily
detect a change in a resident’s routine
or behavior and can immediately enlist
the attention from the appropriate
professional, which in many cases
can prevent a more serious issue from
