La Sucrière bénéficie d’un emplacement exceptionnel. C’est l’un des bâtiments historiques et
emblématiques du nouveau quartier Lyon Confluence, 1er projet architectural contemporain d’Europe,
qui a fait appel à de grands architectes internationaux.
Ces anciens docks, entièrement reconfigurés, accueillent aujourd’hui des restaurants tendance, des
galeries d’art contemporain, des magasins de design mais également les sièges d’institutions et de
grandes entreprises.

La Sucrière est le nouveau lieu art et événement au cœur de Lyon.
Construit dans les années 1930, cet ancien entrepôt entièrement rénové constitue aujourd’hui un
espace événementiel unique.
Avec un fort cachet industriel, ce lieu insolite peut accueillir tous types d’événements :

Lieu de référence pour l’art contemporain depuis 2003, La Sucrière continuera à accueillir la Biennale d’Art Contemporain de Lyon, ainsi qu’un programme d’expositions internationales privatisables.

La Sucrière is the new centre for arts and events
at the heart of Lyon. Built in the 1930s, this
former warehouse has been entirely renovated
and is now a unique event space.
This unique location, with its strong industrial
feel, is suited to all types of events:

La Sucrière has also been a trend-setting
contemporary art centre since 2003 and will
continue to host Lyon’s Biennial Contemporary
Art Festival, as well as offering a calendar of
international exhibitions that can be reserved for
private functions.

Un espace au cachet industriel indéniable, renforcé par la présence des toboggans à sucre
historiques, pour accueillir dîners de gala, spectacles, et conventions, composé de :

| u ne mezzanine de 1 100 m², hauteur sous plafond de 4,2 m, rythmée par 5 balcons-terrasses

Organise your event in a trendy, cultural and
decidedly inspired setting by choosing the space
that suits you best.
The 1930s space
The ideal place for hosting gala dinners, shows
and conventions, consisting of:
| a 1,700m² ground floor events room, with a
height of 4.8m around the sides and 8.2m in
the central area, that has retained its industrial
charm, preserving the old sugar feed chutes that
were installed during the building’s construction.
| a 1,100m² mezzanine level 4.8 m high,
overlooking the ground floor area; bathed in
light, it can be accessed via outdoor balconies
suspended over the Saône.
The 1960s space
A more intimate space with a 600m²
surface area and a height of 5.3m that can be
independently or in conjunction with the 1930s
space for large events.

La Sucrière : un projet, une philosophie
ART
En complément de la Biennale d’Art Contemporain de Lyon, La Sucrière accueille des événements
phares, culturels ou artistiques, de renommée nationale ou internationale : expositions muséales,
expositions d’artistes émergents, de jeunes créateurs… Tout au long de l’année, un étage du
bâtiment leur est exclusivement réservé. Ouvert au public, il est privatisable sur demande lors de
vos événements et pour les partenaires de cet espace culturel.
« Labyrinth of Memory » de Chiharu Shiota
Pour sa première exposition La Sucrière invite l’artiste Japonaise vivant à Berlin, Chiharu Shiota.
Elle réalise sa plus grande installation dans une totale intégration de l’architecture du bâtiment,
composée de 16 robes, spécialement conçues par le styliste Mongi Guibane, et entourées d’un
tissage de laine noire. Atmosphère dense dans laquelle le visiteur déambule en totale immersion
dans l’œuvre.

As well as the celebrated Biennial Contemporary
Art Festival, La Sucrière hosts renowned national
and international breakthrough cultural and
artistic events: museum exhibitions, exhibitions
by new artists, young designers, etc. Throughout
the year, a floor of the building is reserved
exclusively for such events. Open to the public,
this area can also be used for private evening
events on request, allowing you to welcome your
clients and partners to this exclusive cultural
venue.

by Chiharu Shiota
For its first exhibition, La Sucrière has invited
Chiharu Shiota, the Japanese artist currently
residing in Berlin, to take the reins.
Her biggest installation will involve integrating
the architecture of the building itself in a display
consisting of sixteen dresses designed by stylist
Mongi Guibane surrounded by a web of black
wool, creating a dense atmosphere through
which visitors can walk, totally immersing
themselves in the work.
