Week 8, Term 1
ICAS Assessments
ICAS is the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools. It is a schools based assessment
program. In previous years our students have sat these tests. This year the school will once again pay
for English (28/07/15) and Mathematics ( 11/08/15) tests for students from year 2 to year 6. If you
would like your child to sit the exams in other subjects (Digital Technologies 19/05/15, Science
03/06/15, Writing 15th to 19th June 2015, Spelling 16/06/15) you may register them but you will be
expected to pay the cost. Writing exam costs $18.70, Spelling is $12.10 and the others are $8.80.

2015 CALENDARS
If anyone would still like to buy this years’ School Calendar, which features students from 2014, they
are still available from the school office for $6 each.
P & C NEWS
A reminder to parents and community member s that P & C membership is due. The fee is $2 per
person and should be paid to the Treasurer, Tara Homfray.
The P & C office bearers for 2015 are: President: Penny Haddrill; Vice-President: Heather Morris;
Treasurer: Tara Homfray; Secretary: Dee Wilkes-Bowes.
Healthy Easter Recipe
Hot Cross Muffins
Makes 24 small muffins

1 1/4 cups mixed dried fruit
1 1/2 cups self-raising flour
1 cup wholemeal self-raising flour
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cups canola oil
1 cup reduced fat milk
2 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup icing sugar

Method
1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Line two 12-hole muffin trays with paper cases
2. Sift flour, bicarb soda and spices into a large bowl
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the oil, eggs, milk and sugar. Add to the dry ingredients and stir to
combine. Gently stir in the fruit.
4. Divide the mixture among the muffin cases, then bake for 15-20 minutes until lightly browned and a
skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack.
5. To make the icing, mix the icing sugar with a small amount of hot water to form a thick paste. Pipe
crosses over the cooled muffins.
Tip:
If you don’t have a piping bag, just put the icing in a zip lock bag, snip off one corner and pipe away.

AUSKICK
There will be an Auskick registration day on Thursday the 26th of March at the rec ground in Lake
Cargelligo at 3:30 pm. The cost is $30 per child. Enquiries: Wes Kendall 0427982326 AH
Swim Club Presentation
Last Friday was the last swim club for recording so trophies can be ordered. Next Friday will be a fun
night for those wanting to attend with the Presentation being held Friday 27th March 6.00pm. The
club will supply the meat for a BBQ. Please bring a salad to share, plus your own drinks and chairs.
Remember the pool is a glass free zone.
