Workshop Topics & Leaders:
DREAMS: GOD'S FORGOTTEN LANGUAGE - Sarah Peters
All dreams come for our healing and wholeness. Every person, place and thing in a dream has meaning for our growth as the people
God created us to be. This class will cover biblical history of dreams, dream symbols and recording and working with dreams.
THE CHALLENGE OF RELEVANCE FOR EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP - Ken McFayden
Who are you? Where are you? Are you becoming more relevant or less relevant? And does anyone care? This workshop will facilitate an
exploration of identity, context, and relevance, and the roles of leaders in assessing, visioning, and planning strategically for a more
relevant church-and the question of relevant for whom.
THE PLACE OF THE CHURCH: WHY LOCAL GEOGRAPHY MATTERS FOR CHURCH LIFE - Willie Jennings
Join us to explore the importance of church communities learning to think about space and place. One of the problems with the
way most Christians think about the doctrine of creation is that we don't take “place” very seriously. We are fundamentally
geographically adrift. Through stories and examples, Willie explains why this is the case and offers ways churches can and should
connect physically and spiritually with the spaces they inhabit as crucial to the quality of their Christian witness.
PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN HORIZONS BIBLE STUDY WORKSHOP - Betsy Ensign-George
Join PW associate editor Betsy Ensign-George as we explore together the nitty-gritty details of the 2013-2014 Bible study,
An Abiding Hope. She will bring tons of information and you will leave the workshop ready to teach the study (or at least not as
overwhelmed as when you came in). The workshop will be hands-on so be ready to roll up your sleeves. (Paint smocks won't be
required, but you will get to try activities!)
BUILDING COMMUNITY: THE ACTS MODEL IN CHURCH, HOME AND WORLD - Sarah Jobe
Join keynote speaker Rev. Sarah Jobe for an exploration of the vision of Christian community found in the early chapters of Acts.
Sarah will share her personal experience of living in an intentional Christian community, building community within churches and
how Christian community can be a foundation for church mission in the world. Participants will leave with practical, theological
and biblical resources for developing deeper and more welcoming communities in their own churches, homes and geographic areas.
Walk-ins are welcome!

The Helen Mozingo Offering: An offering will be received at the 9:30 a.m. worship service prior to the ser mon and will be
added to the principal of the Helen Mozingo Endowment Fund. The Helen Mozingo Endowment Fund was created in 2000 to honor
the Christian service of Helen Mozingo, elder in the Selma Presbyterian Church, who served the presbytery for 40 years. As a young
public school teacher, Mozingo began her service as a camp counselor. In her later life, she chaired the Small Church Committee for
many years. This endowment fund supports continuing education for small church pastors and leaders.

Stephen Ministry
Stephen Minister training has helped me grow—personally, spiritually and
professionally. I use my Stephen Ministry skills all the time with patients,
peers and physicians. Stephen Ministry has made a big difference in my own
life and in my congregation. - Anna, registered nurse, Hendersonville, TN
The Benefits of Serving
as a Stephen Minister
Since 1975, more than 600,000
Christian men and women from all
walks of life have trained and served
as Stephen Ministers. Most became a
Stephen Minister as a way to help others
who were hurting—but they quickly
discovered that God blesses them in
amazing ways in return.
Being a Stephen Minister has taught me to rely on God instead of always
trying to fix things myself. I’ve learned what to say, how to listen and what
to do during a crisis. It’s a great feeling to provide people with the spiritual
care and support they need. - John, physician, Greenwood, SC
Stephen Minister training has helped me relate better to family, friends,
neighbors—everyone I meet. I’ve experienced the fruits of the spirit—love,
joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control. God is
part of my daily life more than ever before. It’s been a real blessing.
- Maria, mother, Ridgefield, CT
My faith has grown, my prayer life has doubled, and I know how to really
make a difference in people’s lives. I’d encourage anyone who has the
chance to become a Stephen Minister.
- George, architect, Prairie Village, KS
