DISTRICT RESOLUTIONS
Rotary Year 2014 -15
(PDG Jimmy Lim)
The district conference is just around
the corner, and at short notice a bunch
of resolutions were read out, explained
by PDG Jimmy and discussed by the
members. All these resolutions are to
be tabled for adoption at the
conference where we will have four
members carrying our club’s votes.
This made it necessary to postpone
the club assembly to next Wednesday
03 December 2014.
The resolutions are (not in order of
importance).
District Planning Committee
Its resolution 1 deals with the
composition of the district strategic
planning committee and to ensure
continuity. Resolution 2 is the strategic
plan for the district which includes –
among others – strengthening RLTI, the
goal of 100 clubs and 3,000 members
by 2020, chartering at least one each
New Generations RC or E-club and bilingual RC per year, enhancing public
image and awareness of Rotary, focus
on and increase humanitarian service
(including 2 global grants project in a
year). The plan also includes making a
bid to host a RI Convention.
RC Central Damansara
It wants a Rotary, Rotaract and Interact
District handbook published, and
updated every three years, containing
– but not limited to – the District Code
of Conduct, guidelines and a catalogue
of district resolutions.
RC Greater Kuala Lumpur
Its resolution 1 covers the selection of
trustees for Yayasan Kelab-Kelab
Rotary Malaysia (formerly ROTAFOM)
which should be via a voting process
by the clubs and not by appointment.
Resolution 2 covers District 3300
bidding to host a RI convention, the
formation of a bidding committee and
for funds to be made available for this.
Resolution 3 wants any project
proposed by the District requiring
funding from the clubs to be approved
and endorsed by members at the
district conference and that funding
must come from the clubs. Resolution
4 proposed to remove executive power
and involvement in the administration
of District 3000 from the Board of
Directors of Rotary District 3300 (M)
Sdn Bhd.

THE FOUR-WAY TEST
Of the things we think, say or do:
1) Is it the TRUTH?
2) Is it FAIR to all concerned?

RI PRESIDENT GALA DINNER
To celebrate the visit of RI President
Gary Huang and his wife Corinna, a
gala dinner was held at the Sunway
Pyramid Convention Centre on 20
November. It was a well organised
event with a long programme, lots
of fellowship and good camaraderie.
Prior to the dinner the RI President
had to sit through the obligatory
photo session with Rotarians and
their spouses or family members.
Later on, Rotarians were recognised
on stage for becoming first time
PHFs or Major Donors or multiples
thereof. Of course, our PDG Jimmy
Lim was recognised for being the
first and only Arch Klumph Society
member from our district (who is
going to be the next?). On stage
were also PP Rizal Sardon for his
multiple PHF and Rtn Horst Wippern
for having become a Major Donor
last Rotary year.
Ho, Rizal Sardon and Low Bin Tick
with Regina, Rtns Ajmal Khan and
Mubina, Prakash, Wan Rasul, Horst
Wippern and Suren Hendry. Also in
our group were visiting Rtns Ray and
Gay Brook from USA and our former
member Mohan Singh Rendhawa
with Surjit, back from the UK.
THE OBJECT OF ROTARY
The Object of Rotary is to
encourage and foster the
ideal of service as a basis
of worthy enterprise and, in
particular, to encourage
and foster:
FIRST. The development of
acquaintance as an
opportunity for service;
Our club was represented by Pres.
Halim and Nazian who were “leading
the pack”, accompanied by PDG
Jimmy and Brenda, PDG Mustapha
Ma, Hon. Sec. PP Keow, PPs Lim Eng
PROPOSED NEW ROTARACT CLUB
Our very youth-oriented PE Hardeep
Singh and Rtn Ajmal Khan recently
attended the first interest meeting
with St Johns Pre-University students
(six formers) to discuss plans to
establish an institution based
Rotaract club. During this they and
PP Taz from Rotaract Club of Kuala
Lumpur briefed the enthusiastic
students and the teacher advisors
on the requirements for forming
such a club, their obligations, and
Taz provided interesting information
from his Rotaract point of view.
It is hoped that this first meeting will
eventually lead to the formation of a
new, strong and active Rotaract club
with a good membership base.
“ROTARY DAY” AT SUNWAY PYRAMID
To coincide with RI President Gary
Huang’s visit to Malaysia a “Rotary
Day” was organised at Sunway
Pyramid complex to showcase
Rotary’s activities in this country,
make the public aware of who / what
we are and what we are doing.
All clubs in the district were
requested and encouraged to
provide exhibition material for
display, showcasing some of their
most important and visible projects.
SECOND. High ethical
standards in business and
professions, the recognition
of the worthiness of all
useful occupations, and the
dignifying of each
Rotarian's occupation as an
opportunity to serve
society;
THIRD. The application of
the ideal of service in each
Rotarian's personal,
business, and community
life;
FOURTH. The advancement
of international
understanding, goodwill,
and peace through a world
fellowship of business and
professional persons united
in the ideal of service.

According to some of our members
who made the effort to take a look,
the display was quite impressive
and well set up. It was in a
prominent location where shoppers
could not miss it. Rumor has it that
even Pres. Gary was impressed by
what this small district (by world
standards) has done and achieved
over the years. And perhaps with
this display Rotary in Malaysia has
generated
interest
in
some
members of the public to become
Rotarians.
Well done, organisers!
JOINT INTERACT CLUB INSTALLATION
Eight Interact clubs sponsored by
RCKL DiRaja held a joint event
recently for the installation of their
boards of directors 2014-15. The
venue was at the D’Villa Hotel and
was ably organised by a team of
Interactors
led
by
organizing
chairman Interactor Lee Jo-Dee of
Sekolah Bintang Selatan.
With the encouragement and
support from our younger club
members, hopefully many of these
Interactors will progress through
Rotaract and eventually become
active Rotarians in our club, district
or other parts of the world.
Well done, Youth Service committee!
President
Mohd
Nor
Halim,
President-elect Hardeep Singh and
Youth Service committee members
represented our club. Also in
attendance were various teacher
advisors. It was heartening to
witness the enthusiasm displayed by
the youngsters and the fun they had
at the event.
