The BMX competition
The BMX competition at the Baku 2015 European Games will be held from 26
June to 28 June 2015 at the BMX Velopark in Baku. The competition will consist
of two medal events, summarised below:

A total of 48 athletes, 32 men and 16 women, may take part in the BMX
competition.
The rules
The BMX competition will be held in accordance with the editions of the
following documents that are in force at the time of the Games:
• UCI BMX Regulations
• UCI General Regulations
Clothing and equipment
Clothing and equipment used by athletes and other participants in the BMX
competition must comply with the following documents:
• UCI BMX and General Regulations
• European Games Rules on Advertising, Demonstrations and Propaganda
Competition format
The starting order at the qualifying time trials will be determined by the current
position of each rider in the UCI Ranking. The top-ranked rider will start first in
the qualifying time trials.
Women’s competition
The women's competition will consist of the qualifying time trials and time trial
super-final. The qualifying time trial will determine the seeding for positions 9-16
for the next day's motos, while positions 1-8 will be determined by the time trial
super-final. The starting intervals for the qualifying time trial will be one minute,
and two minutes for the time trial super-final.

On the second day of competition, the motos will consist of two heats of three
runs each. Of the 16 competitors, the top eight will qualify for the final.
The final will take place on the third day of competition and consist of one run
only.
Facilities
Men’s competition
The men's competition will consist of the qualifying time trial and the time trial
super-final. The qualifying time trial will determine the seeding for positions 17-32
for the next day's motos, while positions 1-16 will be determined by the time trial
super-final. The starting intervals for the qualifying time trial will be one minute,
and two minutes for the time trial super-final.
• Changing rooms and showers (separate facilities for men and women)
• Internet access
• Team tents for all NOCs with competing athletes
• Bicycle maintenance and repair services
• An athletes’ lounge, which will include services such as an athlete
refreshment station, the Sport Information Desk, television with an in-venue
live sports feed and Wi-Fi
• A broadcast mixed zone and an I-Zone (the I-Zone replaces the press mixed
zone and media conference room at a competition venue)
• A doping control station
• Medical facilities and services such as field-of-play response team, spectator
response teams and ambulance staff. Each venue will have at least one
medical person with Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
• Physiotherapy services featuring internationally trained physiotherapists
• A Sport Information Desk, offering services including distribution of general
sport information, results and other key competition information
On the second day of competition, the motos will consist of four heats of three
runs each. Of the 32 competitors, the top 16 will qualify for the semi-final.
The semi-final and final will both take place on the third day of competition. Both
will consist of one run only.

The venue
The BMX Velopark is a permanent venue built for the Baku 2015 European Games,
and it will remain after the Games. Located close to the Baku city centre, the venue
will form part of the Western Venues. Construction is expected to be completed in
early 2015.
Course
The outdoor BMX track will feature a combination of high technical jumps,
obstacles and tightly banked corners. The track will be 346m long.

There will be a warm-up area close to the competition track, along with provision
for teams to warm up on turbo trainers and similar equipment. Other facilities at
the competition venue will include:
Transport
The preliminary travel time from the Athletes Village to the BMX Velopark is 26
minutes. All travel times are subject to being refined in tandem with the Road
Infrastructure delivery.
Weather
Due to its location on the southwest Absheron Peninsula, Baku is characterised
by its warm temperatures and strong winds all year long, and summers are
usually hot and dry. Based on statistics from recent years, the mean temperature
is approximately 23°C (73°F) in June with around 15 hours of daylight. In June, the
prevailing wind direction is from the north, with a mean wind speed of 6.5 m/s.
The mean relative humidity is approximately 57 per cent.

Qualification and entry
All information on qualification and entries for BMX Cycling can be found in the
Cycling qualification system, distributed by BEGOC. NOCs should check online
for regular updates to these qualification criteria, which will be made available
to all NOCs on the e-Qəzet.
Training
Training for the BMX Cycling competition will also take place at the BMX
Velopark. The BMX Velopark will be open for training from 22 June to 25 June
2015. All training equipment will be approved by the UEC, and will comply with
the UCI BMX and General Regulations.
The team equipment drop-off at the venue will take place on 22 June.
