aus London und Tokio inspirieren.
Herausgekommen sind echte Gitarrenpersönlichkeiten, die gleichermaßen mit japanischer

Bodies über die markanten Farben und Finishes
bis zu den speziell gewickelten Tonabnehmern,

The latest generation of the Nord
piano features an improved fully
weighted keybed with virtual
hammer action, textured “ivory”
keytops, an OLED display and
more memory. Nord Piano 3 has a
“Sample Synth” section with Attack and

parameters and an effects section including tube overdrive and pedal-controlled
tremolo, pan, ring modulator and wahwah. The piano sounds benefit from
dynamic pedal noise when the Nord

To coincide with the 30th anniversary of its
founding, LAkewood is issuing a limited
edition anniversary model this year, the
M-30 custom Grand Concert model. The
sides and back are made from attractively
figured elm, and the top is European spruce.
A distinctive feature is the elm leaf that is inlaid around the 12th fret. The number 30 is
also inlaid on the body directly next to the
start of the neck. The Lakewood anniversary
model is available exclusively in Germany
and is limited to 30 guitars.

Musikinstrumentenpreises 2016
Zur Förderung deutscher Musikinstrumente hat
das Bundeswirtschaftsministerium 1990 den
Deutschen Musikinstrumentenpreis gestiftet.
2016 haben sich unter den durchgehend überzeugenden Einreichungen drei Gewinner durch
ihre Ergebnisse vor allem im Spieltest durchgesetzt. Gelobt wurden die präzise Ansprache,
die hohe Ausgeglichenheit und die überzeugende Klangfarbe. In der Kategorie „Konzertgitarre“ gewann das „Simplicio-Modell“ des
Gitarrenbauers Adrian Heinzelmann aus Berlin. In der Kategorie „B-Klarinette“ teilen sich
das Konzertmodell 6550 von Harald Hüyng
aus Düsseldorf und die B-Klarinette Nr. 250
von Leitner & Kraus aus Neustadt an der Aisch
den ersten Platz. Die Preisverleihung findet am

For the first time the Musikmesse will be accompanied by a festival in Frankfurt. Each day
after the fair has closed its doors, visitors can continue to enjoy music in clubs, bars and
event locations throughout the city. There will be a special Festival Ticket giving visitors
cheaper or even free admission to the events of the four-day festival (as long as tickets and
capacity are available). The ticket – a Festival wrist band and a book of vouchers – is free
of charge for Musikmesse visitors. Acts on stage today include eisbrecher who play in the

The German Musical Instrument Award was
inaugurated in 1990 by the Federal Ministry
of Economics to promote German musical
instruments. In 2016 three winners have
emerged from the impressive list of entries,
based on playing tests. The winners were
praised for their precise response, balanced
sound and brilliant tone. In the “Concert
Guitar” category the winner was the “Simplicio” model from Adrian
Heinzelmann in Berlin. In
the “B-flat Clarinet” category first place was shared
by the 6550 concert model from Harald Hüyng in
Düsseldorf and B-flat clarinet No. 250 from Leitner &
Kraus in Neustadt an der
Aisch. The award ceremony will take place on Friday, April 8 at 5 pm in the
Kaisersaal at Frankfurt‘s
city hall (Römer).

Nylon string guitars are being used more and
more in popular music but they have one
major drawback. Electric guitarists have difficulty adjusting to the wide neck of a Spanish
guitar. Help is at hand from LA MANChA in
the form of five new Radius Small Neck (RSN)
models for this clientele. The narrow necks
and curved fretboards are the right halfway
house for stage musicians who occasionally
have to reach for a Spanish guitar in addition
to their usual acoustic and electric guitars.
The RSN models are available in Rubi and
Perla Negra versions, and also as a left-hand
version and with a pickup system.

Yamaha is presenting a whole series of new horn models. The YhR-871 D represents the
most spectacular change in Yamaha‘s horn line-up in many years. The mix of authentic traditional design and modern technology has resulted in an instrument with sonic characteristics
that cover the entire palette from a rich centered tone with depth and warmth to a lively pleasing and prominent sound. This authentic Geyer-style horn has a newly designed gold brass
leadpipe and the hollow 4th rotary valve gives the horn an impressive sound throughout the instrument’s range. A thicker bell rim

nickel silver valve casing ensures improved response and

Thema; speziell Akustikgitarren ohne frei einstellbaren Steg sind in Sachen Stimmung oft
problematisch. In der Vergangenheit wurde bei
LAkeWOOD jede Stegeinlage einzeln aus
einem Knochen-Quader herausgearbeitet; eine
separate Einstellung der einzelnen Saiten war
in einer akzeptablen Güte nicht umzusetzen.
Die neuen Stegeinlagen werden speziell für
Lakewood mittels CNC-Frästechnik aus Knochen
gefertigt und dabei mit einer punktgenauen
Intonationseinstellung für jede Saite versehen.
So ist auch bei schwierigen Akkorden eine
gute Stimmung garantiert.

Soundmondo has a gigantic library of sounds

An alternative to the end pin jack
It‘s a question that comes up time and again: does the end pin have to be
combined with the output jack? Is there no alternative? All lAkewooD
guitars built in 2016 with the Anthem system from L.R. Baggs now have a new
output socket. It is placed directly next to a standard strap button at the bottom of
the guitar. And you could replace it with a strap lock – to guarantee your precious guitar

roli with four octaves and otherwise identical features. The Seaboard does not have
an integrated sound generator but works as
a MIDI controller which is bundled with the
“Equator” software synthesiser optimised for
Seaboard. It can be operated wirelessly via
Bluetooth. The concept behind this extremely
sturdy instrument is really quite clever. Playing
on its unique keywaves, music-makers shape
sound through intuitive movements such as
striking the keywaves, pressing into them,
gliding from left to right along them, or sliding
up and down them, with touch sensitivity and
portamenti possible before and after the keywaves. Synth players can intonate with the

Im Rahmen einer feierlichen Zeremonie auf der Musikmesse
und der Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt am Main wurden die
Leser-Awards der Fachmagazine KEYS, guitar, Soundcheck,
DrumHeads!! und Tastenwelt aus dem Verlagshaus PPVMEDIEN
verliehen. In jedem Jahr bestimmen dabei Tausende von Lesern
der Fachzeitschriften, welche ihre Lieblingsprodukte des abgelaufenen Jahres in den verschiedensten Geräte-Kategorien
waren. Die sichtbar zufriedenen Vertreter der ausgezeichneten
Hersteller waren selbstverständlich vor Ort und bekamen die
Preise von den jeweiligen Chefredakteuren der Fachmagazine
überreicht.
PPVMEDIEN Readers’ Awards
The destination of the annual PPVMEDIEN Readers' Awards
is determined by the votes of readers of the magazines KEYS,
guitar, Soundcheck, DrumHeads!! and Tastenwelt. Every year,
the international Musikmesse and the Prolight + Sound in
Frankfurt am Main provides the setting for the presentation of
these awards, the atmosphere being upbeat but informal. The
presentation of the awards was a great success. Representatives of the manufacturers whose products had been
recognized in this way by the readers – who voted once
again in their thousands – were on hand to collect the
awards, which were presented this year, as in previous
years, by the editors of the magazines in question.
