Dr. Bayoumi’s Visit
OMC has been chosen for a pilot General Foundation Program audit. Dr. Riad Al Bayoumi, Professor
of Basic Medical Sciences in Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences,
UAE has been appointed as a consultant for audit report review of the college. On 6th August, a meeting
was conducted with Dr. Bayoumi, GFP faculty and QA committee members where Dr. Bayoumi
reviewed the draft copy of GFP audit portfolio and gave his feedback.
Student Interviews
Student interviews for the Batch 2015 -16 were conducted between 9th and 11th August. Around 300
students were interviewed for the Pre-medical and Pharmacy programs.

OMC Welcomes the New Cohort
Oman Medical College organized an orientation program for the newly admitted Medicine and
Pharmacy students at the Bowsher campus Auditorium on 8 September 2015. The major
objective of the program was to make the parents and students aware of the academic aspects of
the course, the rules and regulations of the institution and ensure parental participation in
monitoring the performance and progress of the students. Around 130 students were initiated into
the Premed program and 75 in the B.Pharm program.

2. Dr. Chitme was an invited speaker for One day Seminar on “Emerging Challenges in Practicing
Pharmacy” at RME’s College of Pharmacy, 1st September, 2015, Kalburgi, Karnataka, India.
3. Dr. Chitme delivered a talk as an invited Speaker on “Challenges and Opportunities of
Practicing Pharmacy in Middle East Countries” at 5th P4 “National Conference on Role of
clinical Pharmacist in Medication safety and Pharmacoeconomics” on 22nd -23rd August,
2015 at Krupanidhi College of Pharmacy, Bangalore.

4. Dr. Rasha attended Oman Health Conference from 7th - 9th September, 2015 held at
Oman Exhibition center, Muscat, Oman.

September, 2015. It was about “China –Arab Corporation in Environmental protection

Fresher’s Party
OMC organized a Fresher’s Party for the new students. The purpose of Fresher’s Day party
was to welcome newcomers in a friendly atmosphere. The event was held in the auditorium
on, 21st of September, and it was organized by the Students’ Affairs. It started with the
national anthem followed by ThooA lfakar the Students’ council member welcoming
everyone. The Fresher’s Party was celebrated with fun, a video on alumni was played, and
programs were organized, so as to generate the feeling of fraternity among students. The
audience was kept enthralled by games and programs. A song was sung by Hasan Tayyab, a
beat boxing performance by Zyad, and there was a competition between the staff and the
students. The program ended with the cake cutting ceremony by the Dean, and the fresher’s
loved the welcome given to them.
