Blacktown Festival of Performing Arts
Principal’s Report
A very big well done to our wonderful Senior Dance group,
who performed on Tuesday Night at the Blacktown Festival of
Performing Arts at Wyndham College. Our dance group was
outstanding. Congratulations to all the dancers and to Miss
Christian for all your efforts.
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Kindergarten Enrolments for 2017
K- 2 Athletics Carnival
If you have a child, or know of a child who will be turning
5 years old by July 31st 2017, it is important to fill out an
enrolment application for Blacktown South Public School as
soon as possible. Enrolment forms are available at the office. An
enrolment application for Kindergarten 2017 will ensure children
are invited to our Kindergarten Orientation activities which start
early term 4.
Last Wednesday we were absolutely blessed with a wonderful
winter’s day to hold our annual Kindergarten to Year 2 Athletics
Carnival. Students had a fantastic time rotating through running
races, long jump and various novelty events. Mrs Hurst and
her hard working team of helpers organised a terrific day of
activities for all students to enjoy and be involved. The finals of
the running races were held just prior to lunch and as always
caused much excitement.
Thank you to the many parents that attended on the day to
encourage and cheer on the competitors.
Information and invitation letters for Kindergarten orientation are
being sent out now.
If you have questions concerning your child's enrolment, please
contact the school.

Book Week Dress Up Day
Yesterday our school was full of the most wonderful characters
from literature. Well done to the many students and staff who
made a huge effort to dress up as a book character. Thank you
to the SRC for your organisation of this annual school event.
On September 5th, Blacktown South Public School and many
other Department of Education schools in the Blacktown Area
will be migrating to a new accounting and data management
system. This will be the most significant change in the way
schools manage administration and finance since we moved
from book keeping to computers based systems in the 1990s.
All payments for current camps, excursions must be finalised
well prior to this date by Friday 26th August.

The School Opal Card
Busways has asked all parents who have children catching a
bus to remind them that they must remember to tap on at the
beginning of their trip and off again at the end of their trip. This
is a condition of using the School Opal Card.
Data being gathered shows that not all students are doing this.
If students do not tap on and off, services may be cancelled
due to the lack of recorded patronage
POP- Parent Payments On-line
The school is currently in a transition phase while our system is
being upgraded.
Please note that NO POP PAYMENTS can be made during this
time
P & C and Clothing Pool WILL NOT be linked to POP. Amounts
owing to these organisations will have to be paid for in cash.
We have attached a link for you to see how easy the process is.

Charlie’s Restaurant – Cash benefit for our
school
Charlie’s Restaurant is in Blacktown City Bowling Club, Lismore
St Blacktown (opposite The Hospital), last year Charlie donated
a percentage of every sale to our school where the persons
presented a “Charlie’s Restaurant Voucher”. Click on the link
