N. Vancouver, B.C—More than 500 browsers and buyers
attended the first three-day on-campus piano sale at the Sportsplex in September 1994. The collaborative effort between Kawai
Canada Music, the local Kawai dealer and Capilano College has
become an annual event and this year marks its 18th year.
The original agreement, signed with Kawai in July of 1994, provided the college with a free loan of eight uprights and four grand
pianos. In addition, Kawai donated $5,000. to the College Foundation to establish a music scholarship. This was matched by the
provincial government.

Since 1994, Kawai and its dealer have provided Capilano
College/University with a total of sixty eight grand pianos,
two hundred uprights and sixty four digital pianos...worth a total
retail value of $4,200,000.
