RENOVATION, RESTORATION
AND REPAIR
RENOVACIÓN, RESTAURACIÓN
Y REPARACIÓN
AND THE BEAT GOES ON...
Last week we told you about the water damage at the
back of the church and the impending repair.
This week we are focusing on the other end of the
church – the front. Some new landscaping work has
begun. It is going to take a few weeks to accomplish,
but you should see some steady and noticeable progress from now until the completion.
The best part? One of our parishioners has generously offered to fund the renovation.
I WISH YOU ENOUGH
I ran across this poem and the story that goes with it.
It seems to be rich in food for thought.
I wish you enough sun
to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain
to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness
to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain
so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain
to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss
to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish enough "Hello's"
to get you through the final "Goodbye."
He then began to sob and walked away.
My friends, I wish you enough!

Weekly Stewardship Reflection
“…come away by yourselves to a lonely place
and rest awhile.”
(Mark 6:31)
Do you spend time listening for God? Most of the time,
He speaks in soft whispers. Open your heart and hear the
Lord. Take time in silence everyday and ask God what it
is He wants you to do. Consider making a retreat this
year.
Reflexiones Semanales

(Marcos 6:31)
¿Tomas tiempo escuchando a Dios?

Weekly Reflection
Separation, isolation, and hostility are terrible
things. We are, sadly, too familiar with all of them in
our modern life, whether we look at world events or
events in our own neighborhoods and families. All
three readings today refer to these same sad human
conditions. The prophet Jeremiah describes world
conditions as if the people of his time were sheep who
had been scattered by poor leadership and corrupt
shepherds. But "the days are coming," he assures us
(Jeremiah 23:5), when a new shepherd, a just king,
will come. We meet that king in the second reading
and the Gospel. Paul reminds us in the letter to the
Ephesians that all divisions can now cease in Christ
Jesus who has brought us together through his blood.
In Mark's Gospel we see Jesus himself, looking with
pity on those searching for him as if they were sheep
without a shepherd.
How can our wounded world be healed? How
can barriers be broken down, reconciliation begin and
healing take place? This is certainly a question for
this new century, but it is a question as old as the
world. In today's first reading, the prophet Jeremiah
describes a torn and broken world. He looks to the
leadership in the land and finds it lacking. He writes
of shepherds who mislead and scatter. Such bad shepherds, then and now, might be political leaders. But
they might also be leaders of families, of industry, of
education, or of any human institution. Jeremiah
foretold the coming of Jesus, "a righteous shoot to
David" (Jeremiah 23:5). He foretold a shepherd who
would gather the sheep, a king who would govern
wisely. In today's Gospel, Mark describes this shepherd king. He and his apostles were tired and had
gone away to rest. But they were met by a crowd of
people searching for his teaching. We are told that
Jesus pitied them, seeing them as "sheep without a
shepherd" (Mark 6:34).
How does Jesus Christ see us today? Does he
pity us? We are scattered, separated, bewildered, conflicted. We tremble in fear and hide in the dark. Are
we still like sheep without a shepherd? How can our
torn and broken world be restored? We can turn to
Saint Paul for an answer. He, too, describes a broken
world of hostility and enmity. But he reminds us that
enmity has been put to death. The cross of Christ Jesus has done this. It is in Christ Jesus and through the
shedding of his blood that we can be reconciled, one
to another, all over our broken world.

nuestro mundo sufriente.
