At last, the warm weather has returned, bringing with it a multitude of outdoor activities
and celebrations, perfect for practising our favourite sports and recreational activities and
enjoying time with family and friends.
Rest assured our regular activities – day camp, swimming and tennis lessons, soccer and
ball leagues just to name a few – are back this year.
Particular focus will be devoted to organizing and offering activities and projects for our
borough's 12- to 17-year-olds. Thanks to the creation of a new committee, known as
“Jeunesse active de Brompton” (JAB) composed of Brompton Borough leaders, and to
financial support from the business community, a coordinator and a project officer will be
working for the benefit of our young adolescents. Thus we will be able to hold the youth festival for a second year
on June 25, and the Coopérative jeunesse de services will operate all year long, not solely in the summer as last
year.
With the cooperation of the Place des jeunes l’Intervalle and the support of youth community table members,
other one-time projects targeting this same group will be offered.
Join us in celebrating Quebec’s national holiday on June 23 for the 14th year and the Fête de la Rentrée, in its 13th
year, on August 27.

UPCOMING BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETINGS
Public borough council meetings are held at least once a
month at the borough office. Regular meetings take place
the fourth Monday of the month at 7 p.m., except in July
and December when the meetings are held the first
Wednesday of the month at noon.
Please call the borough office in advance to ensure
that the meeting is being held as scheduled.
Upcoming meetings: Monday, June 26, 7 p.m.,
Wednesday, July 5, noon and Monday, August 28, 7 p.m.
Land use planning, permits and inspection
department (building inspector)

LA PLACE DES JEUNES L’INTERVALLE
Spending summer
in the borough?
For youth aged 12 to 17, the
Intervalle is where things are
happening!
Many interesting activities are organized both
within the youth centre and beyond.
Outings outside of the borough: Camping, water
slides, mini-golf, movie theatre evenings, bowling,
the beach, bike trips and more!
Activities offered every day the centre is open:
A place to chat with other youth and dynamic
leaders, foosball, computers with Internet access,
sports activities and art workshops.
Extra outing:
Granby Zoo!
Note that this outing has been added to the program at
no additional cost.
Please note: Spaces are limited, depending on the
category.

• bike outings for 9- to 12-year-olds (bikes and equipment
supplied free of charge)
• occasional activities in the City of Sherbrooke using

to put their shoulder to the wheel to finance their
activities.
No one gets bored at the Intervalle youth centre!
Chat with the group of eight young people who
anxiously await their trip to Guatemala this
summer. They have been working on this project
for many months with the help of two youth centre
leaders.
They are looking forward to a cultural exchange
and humanitarian aid experience. Drop by and
check it out!

YOUTH COOPERATIVE SERVICES
Attention! Reserve our services soon for this
summer…
Summer is finally here. We are ready and proud to
offer help with various odd jobs such as mowing
lawns, housework, babysitting, parking supervision,
farm work, etc, for the second consecutive year.
We are dynamic young people and our summer service
offer covers residential, industrial and agricultural
sectors for the months of May to October. Call us for

L’ART HUICHOL
The Huichol are a Mexican
ethnic group that has
preserved its original cultural
traits to this day. They are
among that country’s most
remarkable native artisans and
artists.
Their culture’s vigour is such
that, far from letting
themselves become acculturated, their art has
developed by drawing from pre-Columbian sources.
The hilly nature and difficult access to Huichol land
has contributed to their isolation and to the
preservation of a tradition that is deeply rooted in utter
fidelity to the beliefs they inherited from their
ancestors.

MUSIC AND STORYTELLING (rain or shine)
BEER AND SAUSAGE IN THE PARK:
CELEBRATING CULTURE!
An evening focusing on First Nations culture featuring
a performance by the the Sandwoka dance troupe.
This troupe is composed of 15 natives from the HuronWendat Nation of the Wendake community. Wendake
is located 15 km north of Quebec City.
Professional storyteller Louise de Broin of Sherbrooke
will follow with the captivating legend of Scagawea.
The evening will close with the group, La Roue du
Loup. Their songs speak of the close relationship
between humankind and nature.
Eat, drink and be merry!
Our beer- and sausage-tasting event is back for a third
year in the great outdoors at Parc de la Rive. Your
support will help the committee continue offering
cultural activities free to all citizens of the Borough of
Brompton and the City of Sherbrooke.
