Memories of Cole Canoe Base
Located approximately three hours north of the City of Detroit
-- near Alger, Michigan -- Edward N. Cole Canoe Base has a
history dating back to the mid 1960’s. From what began as
just a rack of canoes sending people out on the Rifle River,
Cole has grown to become a full-featured BSA camping facility; offering a summer camp program second to none. We
continue to improve every season thanks to the Boy Scout
Troops and Venturing Crews that camp with us from across
the region; and the outstanding staff that make this camp their
home away from home.
Cole Canoe Base welcomes all! Our staff will do everything within our power to assist you with any training or advancement, while insuring a safe and outstanding camping
experience. We are also proud to offer Scouts with incredible
High Adventure opportunities; including 50 mile, 75 mile, and
100 mile canoe trips on the Rifle, Au Sable, and Fox/
Manistique Rivers. We also feature Pictured Rocks 50 mile
Backpacking Treks and our Grand Island Adventure. Our program is always evolving, and we look forward to inviting you
through our gates and welcoming you home.
