President’s Letter
Hi Fellow Members;
These are sad times we live in today with security
problems happening all over the country and even in our
community. That's why we have made some changes to
improve our security at the club. We have installed a code
lock on the left door that we now call the member door.
That door will remain locked at all times starting 8/1/2016.
To gain entry members will be given an entry code
available from the bartender. It is also available by email.
Give me a call @ 702-341-1031 and give me your email.
Once I verify it, we will send you the code. We are still
working on improving the right door which will be the
visitor door that will have a buzzer and audio to enter.
We are also moving some cameras around to see more of
our parking lot and gathering a volunteer walking around
security group.
We are excited about the new board term just starting.
We are in the process of putting our budget together for
this term and look forward to sharing it with you for
approval at the August membership meeting.
Our downtown Oktoberfest is right around the corner
and we need lots of volunteers for food, the bars, along
with set-up and take-down. Also, we'll need people to
help at our club Oktoberfest on Sat and Sun the 15th and
16th. These events are a huge part of our income and we
rely on our members to help make these events
successful .

Heimatabend
Hi Members:
Our dues have not being raised, but for
each member that has not paid their dues by September
1, 2016, you must include a $10 late charge.
New members can pick up their membership cards and
packets at the Luncheon and General Membership
meeting on AUG 21. Lunch starts at 11:00 AM and the
cost is $10.00 for members and $13.00 for visitors. The
General Membership meeting starts at 1 PM.

Golf News
This is a short note from your German-American Golf Club
joint presidents, George and Alex, regarding our
upcoming tournament in Laughlin. Since Steve was the
last golf president it will take two of us to fill his shoes
and I am not implying he has big feet... But he has done a
marvelous job at the time he was the Golf President.
We have a two person presidency and hopefully will
come close to his accomplishments. With the ladies of the
German-American Social Club of Nevada, we are well on
our way go have a great outing in Laughlin. Okay, George
and I are busy and hopefully we succeed in filling Steve's
shoes. The plans are well on the way.
The golf course has been reserved for Saturday 5
November by Art Ruckle, and the Hotel Avi has room
reservations for Sat by Beverly Long. For Fri. Nov 4 and
Sat. Nov 5, she arranged a room rate of $49.99 per day.
As it gets closer to the outing we will get out more
information. As we have them, we can reserve our rooms
in Laughlin as of now. We still have our golf outings
every Friday and Sunday at Durango Hills.

The Greek-themed Heimatabend by Suzanne Couture
Woodbury, who happens to have Greek roots, was a real
authentic and fun event! The Greek Salad starter and the
Mixed Grill Entree were very tasty and served beautifully
with great detail on the presentation all the way to the
dessert. Thank you also to Suzanne's mother, Angel
Couture, for sharing stories and family pictures that gave
the evening a real cozy feeling! Suzanne, we can't thank
you enough to take time out of your busy schedule to
treat us to this special dinner! Thank you everyone who
pitched in with decorating and serving!
The next Heimatabend will be announced in the updates
online by mid-August.

Friday Nights
The club is open on most Fridays (see calendar). Card
players engage in several different card games. Members
and guests are welcome to come down and play cards,
have a drink and socialize. Chess, board games, and small
meetings are welcome as space allows. Friday is Potluck
night, so don't forget to bring a dish to share if you are
participating.

Treasurers Report
The financial report is only available at the club or by
email to keep it confidential for our members.
Also, the last two 51's Thursday evening home games of
the season are August 18 and August 25. I am unable to
coordinate a group event this year (and we only save $1
per ticket), so if we want to do a game this year, we can
pick one of those dates and either meet at the gate or
meet in the parking lot and tailgate and then go into the
game. No, they won't sell out.
