Getting Started
Sew with 1/4” seam allowances. Press all seams as you sew. Always sew a
sample block before cutting an entire quilt.
Sewing
1 Blocks The blocks are sewn in two sections that are
joined together. Applique and embroider the face on
each of the small sections and the words on the large
sections before joining the sections together to complete
the block.
2 Rows The quilt is sewn together in
2rows of 2 blocks each. The blocks are
separated by blue and gray sashing strips
and a center gray sashing strip to separate
the rows. Follow the diagram to sew the
rows of blocks and sashings together. Sew
the 2 rows together separating them with a
gray sashing unit to complete the center
area of the quilt top.
3 Sewing Borders There are 4 different blocks in the border strips plus 4
squares. Sew the blocks in the numbers as shown.
4 Adding Borders Sew the borders
together as shown in the diagram.
There are 2 side borders and a top
and bottom border. Study the
borders carefully and arrange the
border blocks exactly as shown as
they surround the center of the
quilt. Sew the side borders to
opposite sides of the quilt and the
top and bottom borders to finish.
Finishing
Layer the quilt top, batting and backing. Baste, then quilt the layers together.
Bind outside edges of quilt by cutting 2" wide bright blue fabric strips. Fold in half
lengthwise and press on fold line. Pin and sew raw edges of binding to raw
edges of top and quilt. Turn folded edge to back of quilt and stitch in place.
