Speaker: Judge George Hardesty Jr.
Mobile County State Court System
Honorable George N. Hardesty, Jr.
The Honorable George N. Hardesty, Jr., serves as District Judge
for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, Mobile County. Judge Hardesty was appointed to the position of District Judge in May, 2003
and was subsequently elected to a full term in November 2004.

(1979-1985); City Prosecutor for Mobile and Satsuma and practiced in the private
practice of law (1985-1995). Judge Hardesty also served as Assistant District Attorney in 1995.
Judge Hardesty is a graduate of the University of Alabama (B.A.) and the University of
Alabama School of Law (J.D., 1977).
Judge Hardesty's military career includes twenty-seven (27) years of service in the

From the President’s Perspective
Spring is officially here so get your gardens planted. There is nothing
like fresh home grown vegetables to put on the table this summer.
Also try doing a thirty minute workout or walk once a week. This can
be habit forming and find your-self doing it more often. Remember
Easter Sunday is coming up on April 5 and it’s not only about candy,
eggs and bunnies. On Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. “Jesus said … ‘I am the resurrection and
the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who
lives and believes in me shall never die’” (John 11:25–26, ESV).
Remember to shop Saraland and the North Mobile Area and look forward to seeing
you at the next luncheon.

Message from the Mayor
This is a very exciting time for the City of Saraland.
Several new businesses are opening in our city highlighted by frequent ribbon cuttings. We are enjoying
continued steady growth both commercially and residentially. The new CVS store is rising quickly and
groundbreaking will be held in near future for phase I
of the Infirmary medical campus. New hotels are being constructed on Industrial Parkway. Our city is
considering multiple development options available for
our recently purchased shopping center on Highway
43. Some of these are quite exciting. We will be shortly using recently obtained
grant funds to make improvements on Highway 43 including new signage, sidewalks, bicycle paths and green space enhancements. Our exit 15 interchange enhancement project should be started later this year. Hopefully this will alleviate an
area of significant traffic congestion in our city as well as stimulate further commercial growth in that area. The Saraland school system continues as an outstanding
catalyst for further growth and expansion of our community.
The City values our close working relationship with the Saraland Area Chamber of
Commerce. Leadership Saraland is currently starting its second class providing
quality leadership training for Saraland business owners and employees. We look
forward to future joint projects with the Chamber as Saraland continues to further
develop and improve. Many thanks to all Chamber members that volunteer their
time and talents to help enhance our community.
