Happy Hallows everyone!
Hopefully you've all recovered well from the revelry of the past few days.
Here's thanks to everyone who came in full force to Hallowe'en Bowling, and
good luck to those of you who won shake weights for your costume choice!
People I talked to over the weekend said that folk in Saskatoon really put
effort into their costumes, so props to everyone who dressed up!
Annual General Meeting
What you need to know about the next few weeks is that the Annual
General Meeting for the Saskatoon Engineering Students' Society is
coming up on Thursday, 14 November 2013, in Room 1B71. It is
exclusively in general meetings that we are able to amend the
Constitution and Bylaws of the SESS. There will also be some
discussion on how funding from the SESS will be distributed to
disciplines, so make sure you're there to have a say.
Next up on 16 November is the Saskatoon Engineering Competition, where
you'll be pitting your designs, communication skills and ideas against your
peers. Industry reps will be part of the judge panel, so this will be a great
opportunity to get some footing with engineering companies.
Finally, the SESS Christmas Formal banquet is coming up on 29 November.
This year the formal banquet is being sponsored by Hatch and held at the
Sheraton. Tickets will be available in a couple weeks so save the date to eat,
drink, dance and celebrate the end of the semester with class!
Until then, hang on through the last blast of midterms and design projects. If
you need help with anything, or have a question or just need to talk, come
find me or any of the executive in the office or while out and about. We're
always here to give you a hand!

Hello College of Engineering! The time has come for an update on the
progress of the University of Saskatchewan Sundogs AeroDesign Team!
We are now a USSU ratified organization, which opens up many doors for
us to operate efficiently as a campus club. This is an essential step in
getting the team back on its feet, so congratulations to everyone!
We are also now a part of the U of S SAE Chapter, which is an integral step
in becoming eligible for competition this upcoming March.
Training sessions have taken place most Sundays over the past month,
both on theory of flight and design of aircraft using Solidworks. The team
has had the opportunity to work with our incredible staff advisors to
construct numerous training planes in order to learn the control of Radio
Control aircraft.
Last, but definitely not least, WE ARE REGISTERED FOR COMPETITION!!
This means we are officially sending a team to Texas as U of S
representatives in March, to demonstrate the incredible talent present at the
University of Saskatchewan. The design of our competition aircraft is well
underway, with aspects such as airframe and wing design, as well as
implementing an electric power system all posing their own challenges and
learning opportunities. Important sponsorships have been found, and many
more are being sought. All in all, things are looking bright for a successful
takeoff of the Sundogs AeroDesign Team this academic year.

Greetings everyone,
This week’s latest and greatest news from Huskie Motorsports focuses on the
chassis! First and foremost the chassis has arrived and everything is accounted for.
Further adding to the weight loss of S10, we were able to shed 1 pound by
shortening the length of the front tubes. Not interested in the weight loss anymore?
Well then how about the shocking increase of torsional rigidity by 18%. Still not
excited yet? You should be! This is the earliest we have ever completed the chassis
design.
Interested in helping with the chassis? Come on down to the Hardy lab on Saturday
and further develop your skills. While you’re at it, add some knowledge to those
skills. Come attend our weekly meetings in room 1B71 at 7:00 PM. I shall now end
this brief update with a joke.

Member Learning sessions start at 6pm and our Group Huddle planning
meetings follow at 7pm.
Member Learning This Week:
On Nov. 4th, our member learning session will have a focus on personal
development. We will be running a workshop called Intentional DecisionMaking and Prioritization. The goals of the workshop are to:
- Develop an appreciation for your natural preferences in decision-making
and prioritization
- Learn about different factors that influence your decisions, including
intellect/emotion, important/urgent, and quality/quantity of work
- Understand when to leverage your natural preferences... and when (and
how) to flex outside of them

SEC Registration Still Open
Register Today!
This years Saskatoon Engineering Competition (SEC) is on for November 16th,
starting at 9 AM in the Hardy Lab. To ensure that the organizing committee has
enough time to make necessary arrangements, please register you and your team
Today! Registration forms can be found online at the SESS website newsfeed, or
on the brown shelf inside the student lounge.
The registration deadline is November 13th. However, please register as soon
as you are able. Registration forms and fees are to be handed into the SESS office,
which takes Cash, Debit or Credit.
Students applying to Western Engineering Competition (WEC), must be
competing in SEC to be eligible for WEC. Applications for WEC are also
available on the SESS website, as well as on the brown shelf in the lounge. If you
have a serious time conflict with SEC and cannot attend, but would still like to apply
to WEC, please contact me at <[email protected]>, and I will do my best
to accommodate your needs.
