We are looking for volunteers to
help run Luther Con in October.
We are looking for this to be a
local area convention, the goal is
to get more exposure to High
School age students and bring
them into the hobby. This should
also help to slowly increase attendance at Little Wars.
Another initiative is Troops for
Troops, but since this was something started by Kevin, I will let
him talk about this more later.
The new National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center at Patriot Park, Columbus Georgia, will honor the legacy of the
United States Infantry. The museum’s galleries will trace infantry
history from colonial times to
the present and will feature interactive and immersive exhibits
to enhance the visitors experience. The focus of the educational effort will be to teach history, as the history of the U.S.
Army Infantry parallels the history of our country. In addition
to the 190,000 square foot museum, there will be a five acre
parade field for infantry and basic
training graduations and change
of command ceremonies. A Walk

many events during the year.

drive would be to Springfield

National Guard Museum. It is
suppose to be very nice.

era Company Street, featuring
the headquarters and sleeping
quarters used by General George
S. Patton in 1941 will take visitors back to the scenes of our
country's largest wartime
buildup. The facility will
also include a 3-D IMAX theater,
restaurant and museum store.
If you are looking for some
places closer to home there is

Troops for Troops by Kevin Seward
In response to an on-line request
from an American soldier, several
HMGS-Midwest members, local
game stores, Flames of War -USA,
and others have shipped over
$800.00 worth of wargaming supplies to troops in Afghanistan. About $200.00 worth of additional supplies are pending shipment. Supplies shipped have included completed / painted miniatures, various Battlefront miniatures kits, paints, rule books, gaming supplies and terrain.
This effort is the second such collection drive. HMGS-Midwest
members also provided war-gaming
supplies for American troops in Iraq
on a smaller scale.
Black Sun Games (5426 N. Kedzie,
Chicago IL) and Games Plus
( Mount Prospect IL) have both
offered to serve as collection points
for donated gaming materials.
Jeff Cohen, President of HMGSMidwest, contacted Battlefront
USA and requested their support in
this effort. They agreed to provide
and ship an additional $500.00
worth of terrain sets and other
gaming supplies above what has
already been donated.

Joining the forum is easy, just go to
the Join page and then the Membership page. Right there in the middle
of the page is the link to the forum.
The forum is for HMGS Members
only and for vendors. Each registrant for the forum will require
authorization by the site admin,
which will involve an email to verify
your membership or if you are a
vendor where you are from. Non–
member of course can browse the
forum but will not be allowed to
post. Feel free to add pictures,
battle reports and all questions on
the forum. We will have representation from the BoD members as
well. You will also find info on both
conventions and any other info.
We welcome any other ideas that
you may have for improvements to
the website. We have included
links to the other HMGS chapters
and will be attempting to keep a list
of upcoming conventions and game
days as we find out about them. If
you have info on any events that
may be of interest to our members
please notify the newsletter editor/
webmaster so that I can get the
info up on the site.
