Our Philosophy
T
he Arts & Crafts movement upheld certain ideals including high quality
craftsmanship and uncompromised creativity in small studio settings.
We at Door Pottery, keep our staff and studio small to ensure that we
stay connected to pottery as a process.
It is important to us to maintain a
level of exceptional quality while
encouraging creative expression.
As a result, each piece of pottery is
an original work of art, as unique as
the artist who made it. No two pieces
that leave our studio are exactly alike.
The beauty of our blended glazes is
in the differences, and the intriguing

charm of our decoration is in the details.
We are proud of what we do, and are pleased to bring you Door Pottery...

Timeless Art...From our hands to your home.

igh above in the canopy, another world exists, another
language is spoken. Wind sings through the pines and
the sun sifts through the gingkoes. As the seasons change and
green turns to gold, so too, does the sun set and the world
shapes a different silhouette, as the moon rises and the bats fly.

everything slows to a languid pace. Hearing the quiet hum
of dragonflies and the soft rustle of cattails in the humid breeze,
we find time to enjoy life’s simplicity.

uring the mid-teens C.S. Todd and W.E. Hentschel
of Rookwood pottery captivated collectors with an
innovative new style. Hallmarked by multicolored dripping
glazes and stylized carving, we simply refer to these pieces
as “Cincinnati Style”. We’ve paired classic motifs with our
incredible glazes to bring you our version.

I
n trying to diversify our pottery line, we are pleased to be making
tile true to the traditional look of art tile from the Arts & Crafts
era. Each handmade tile has its own twist of originality with slight
variations in glaze and form. While the beauty of our crystalline
matte glazes will bring you pleasure for many years to come, they
are not suitable for wet areas like bathrooms or kitchens. Please call
the studio if you have a need for watertight tile.

ard Hunter Studios Legacy Frames are a handsome way
to finish our tile and create an heirloom piece for your
home. The frames are constructed of 3”quarter sawn white oak
and finished with their 4-step Signature process revealing the
depth and beauty of the wood. With a slight bevel towards the
center to accent the tile, these frames are simply stunning.

he lifeblood of our studio is creativity. Having the opportunity
to stretch artistically is vital to our artisans. Studio pieces are
one of a kind works that reflect the creative individuality of the
artist. They will be signed along with the words Studio Pottery.
In 2007 we added a stamp with our distinctive 3 gingko
leaf logo. Because there are so few of these made, we
typically only bring them to the shows we attend
throughout the year. For further information,
please contact the studio.

ur Faience Glazes are all crystalline mattes. With the
look and feel of antique pottery, these special glazes
require the same delicate care. They are not watertight or food
safe. To preserve your piece, dust with a dry or slightly damp
soft cloth. To avoid ink transfer newsprint should not be used
to wrap these pieces.

t the turn of the century, Hull House in Boston was home to
a girls club focused on teaching life skills and cultural
enrichment. Their Saturday group of young women concentrated
on making and decorating pottery to be sold in the Bowl Shop
of their Paul Revere Pottery. The charm and whimsy of Saturday
Evening Girls (SEG) pottery have enchanted collectors for years.
We hope you enjoy the traditional themes we have chosen for
our SEG pieces. All designs are available in a watertight green

fter 25 years in engineering, Kyle Kreigh turned his talent for
precision and meticulous detail toward ceramics. Working
almost exclusively in porcelain he set out to produce “art to live
with”. Complete bathroom ensembles, from tile to hand thrown
sinks, became his specialty. Always looking to grow creatively,
sharing studio space with Door
Pottery offered an opportunity
to explore new directions.
Inspired by the works of
Adelaide Robineau,
the pieces Kyle
creates for Door
Pottery feature
exquisite carving,
beautiful cystalline
glazes and elegant
form. Each work is a
masterpiece. We always
have a selection of Kyle's
work at shows, in the studio,
and at our company store.
