accept
applications for the Miss Spring
Ho Pageant has been extented to
Monday.
Applications may be downloaded

Spring Ho office.
Applicants will meet Tuesday
at 9 a.m. in the Lampasas High
School cafeteria to have photos
taken for the newspaper.
Peaches
The Kiwanis Club of Lampasas
is holding its annual sale of
peaches to support the Lampasas
Boys & Girls Club.
A 22-pound box of peaches is $42.
Pick-up is July 6 from 9-11 a.m. at
the Hostess House parking lot.

Meetings
The Lampasas County Commissioners Court will meet Monday
at 9 a.m. in the first-floor courtroom at the county courthouse.
The Lampasas City Council also
has a meeting scheduled Monday. A
workshop session will begin at 5:30
p.m. in City Council Chambers,
405 S. Main St. behind City Hall.
The council will begin its regular session at 7 p.m.

Lometa graduation exercises set
Twenty Lometa High School seniors are prepared
to walk across the stage tonight to receive diplomas at
commencement ceremonies at 8 p.m. at the football field.
Jamie Smart, Lometa High School director of special
programs, will lead the processional to “Pomp and
Circumstance.”
The invocation will be given by Jose Acevedo.
Esmeralda Jasso will present the salutatory address, and
Skyla Thompson will offer the valedictory address.
The class song will be played, and Principal Rob Moore
will present special awards to seniors.
Diplomas will be presented by John Hines, president
of the Lometa Independent School District Board of
Trustees, and Superintendent David Rice.
The alma mater will be played, and the benediction will
be offered by George C. Torres Jr.
A recessional, led by Smart, will close the graduation
exercises.
A reception with a slideshow will immediately follow in
the cafetorium.
It took less than five minutes for
the Lampasas Independent School
District Board of Trustees to lose two
board members and gain two new
ones Monday night,
Two-term trustee Linda Floerke,
who opted not to run again for office,
was lauded for her service to the
district.
She was presented a plaque and a
hard hat as a reminder of her efforts
to help pass bond issues that resulted
in construction of a new high school
and Taylor Creek Elementary School.
Trustees also accepted Shannon
Kellner’s resignation from the board.
Sam Walker
Kellner, who had served for two
years and was not at the meeting,
accepted a job in Kansas, according
to district administrators.
Sam Walker, a Lampasas High
School graduate, was tabbed to
replace Kellner in a unanimous vote.
The oath of office was administered
to Walker and to continuing trustee
Kirk Whitehead as well as incoming
board member David Millican, who
filed for Mrs. Floerke’s seat on the
board.
The first order of business was to
select officers.
James Briggs, longtime trustee and
board president, again was tabbed to
head the board, and Whitehead, the
current vice president, will continue
in that position.
Trustee Dan Claussen was selected
for another term as board secretary.

representatives to the Boys’ State
session June 9-14 at the University
of Texas in Austin.
Those selected are Ryan Baxter,
son of Rick and Sheri Baxter; Lance
Cofield, son of Billy and Christie
Cofield; Shonderius Howard, son
of Billy and Jacqueline Howard;
