THF Club Teams 2015 - THF Baseball Facilities
 THF CLUB TEAMS
The Facility & Fields
The Hit Factory’s indoor training facility is located in the Woodlands Centre, just 1km from the
Singapore American School. It features a full sized indoor 60ft turf diamond and state-of-the-art
equipment including: Iron Mike MP-4 and BATA 3 pitching machines for both baseball and
softball, pitching mounds for kids and adults, MLB training tools and radar, as well as a MLB video
analysis system for pitching and hitting with integrated professional player comparisons.
THF’s new outdoor training facility is located at the United World College. Each Club Team will
have semi-monthly practices on Saturdays, and the fields will be fully equipped with pithing
machines, mounds, bases, and protective screens. THF’s partnership with UWC provides our
players with world-class outdoor training to compliment our fully weatherproofed indoor facility.
Professional Instruction
THF has a full time American professional coaching staff with playing experience and coaching at
the highest levels including Major League Baseball. Our Head Coach and Manager of Player
Development, Owen Reid, played baseball at Baylor University and was recently Player
Development Manager for the Professional Club, the Perth Heat. He was also the Strength and
Conditioning Coordinator for the team. Owen is one of the premier instructors in the region and
we are very fortunate to have him managing our program. Daniel Edwards, THF’s pitching coach
is a two-time All American from KSU. He holds the all-time records in game and relief
appearances at KSU and was drafted by the Cleveland Indians. Matt Burns, is our Speed and
Agility Coach who works across all training programs at THF. Matt majored in Sports and
Recreation and was an elite shortstop throughout his high school career.
Club Team Overview
We will manage the following age divisions for the 2014/2015 season - 10U, 11U, 12U, 14U, 15U,
17U. During the course of the 9-month program (September 1 – May 31), all Club Teams will
train a total of 5 hours a week at our facility and our outdoor fields. Each team will play in
numerous international tournaments as well as friendly games against other local clubs in
Singapore. THF will select a volunteer “Dad” coach for each age group to help oversee the team.
Our facility practices will never be cancelled due to rain or lightening, as 100% of these scheduled
practices will take place indoors. Additionally, each THF team will hold regular semi-monthly
outdoor practices at UWC to cover training for aspects of the game that cannot be completed
indoors. These practices will be held on Saturdays from 1-3 pm on the turf field, which can
accommodate up to 3 teams. THF’s teams will have full use of batting cages, pitching machines,
bases, backstop, and pitching mounds. Our professional coaching staff will oversee all UWC
outdoor practices, as there will be no scheduled indoor practices at THF’s facility to conflict with
this Saturday time slot. Players who participate in the outdoor practices (your option) will be
charged a small field rental fee.
THF professional coaches Owen Reid and Matt Burns will manage daily practices while preparing
the teams for competitive tournament play. There will be a targeted 9-month training
program that is followed for AL L Club Team s. This will ensure that all THF players are
working towards the same end goals, as our instructors will be adhering to unified training standards
to maximize elite player development. While parental support is appreciated, it is not required.
THF’s professional coaches will always be present to run and manage every training session.
Team Selection a nd Roster
All players who are passionate about baseball are welcome. Our programs are co-ed. The age cutoff for each age group is May 1 . For example, for the 12U team, if the player turns 13 AFTER
May 1 , we encourage you to join our 12U Club Team. Younger players are allowed to “play up”
depending on skill level, safety, and maturity. For players wanting to play up, our coaching staff will
assess individual player ability, prior to roster selection and the start of the season. Each age group
will carry a maximum 16-player roster.
st
st
Criteria for player selection will be based on talent, commitment, work ethic, and attitude. THF is
looking for players who are serious about baseball and want to elevate their game and learn to
compete at the next level. THF recognizes there are other sports, school demands, and personal
commitments that will compete for our players’ time. There will be no club rule that a
player cannot participate in other baseball programs or sports ; however, the
question that will be asked of our prospective players is “Can you commit yourself
to your TH F ball club?” If the answer is YES, then we will expect our players to be actively
involved in most practices, and make commitments to participate in our tournament schedule.
Regarding our Club Team Players and the recreational leagues offered by SACAC and Little
League, THF RECOMMENDS our players participate, since “more baseball is better baseball.”
Tournament Program
THF will be providing numerous tournament opportunities during the course of 2014/2015 season.
It is YOUR choice on which tournaments you would like to participate. You are not required to
participate in a minimum number of tournaments, nor are you restricted to a maximum amount.
Assuming there is a full roster for a respective tournament, THF will enter a team for competition.
If we have too many players for a particular tournament, we will form the team based on a “first
come, first serve” basis. Although, this did not occur last season, it is a possibility that we need to
make you aware. Since the professional coaches can only travel and coach one team per
tournament, we may request “Dad” participation if a tournament requires additional manpower.
THF has a very high “benchmark” for the tournaments we select. We seek premium fields, diverse
competition, unique cultural destinations, and best value for money. There are numerous
tournaments to which we decline invitations, as they do not meet the THF Club Team standards
for a program that we feel is the ultimate baseball experience in Asia.
Travel
THF players and their families get to travel throughout the world to visit and experience some
incredible destinations. We encourage THF families to participate in as many tournaments as their
work schedule and budgets can accommodate. Many of our THF families use our tournament
destinations as “family vacations” as we have free time to sightsee, enjoy great meals, and embrace
the local cultures. THF’s Travel Coordinator will oversee and arrange all travel logistics for our
THF players and their families. This will include flights, hotels, local tours, and transportation to
and from the fields. We prefer for all of our players to sleep in the same accommodations, as it
makes the transportation to the fields seamless, allows for easy cultural excursions, and maximizes
the bonding experience among teammates. If one of our professional coaches is required to travel
with the team (due to a Dad not being able to fulfill the role), then the coach’s travel costs (flight
and hotel) will be split amongst the teammates. This cost typically will not exceed $125 per family,
per trip.
School is obviously the most important factor in determining our tournament schedule. We rarely
need to request missed school days for tournament excursions, but on occasion this will happen.
We try and mitigate this as much as possible, but sometimes in order to meet the scheduled dates
of the tournament, we need to miss a day of school. Again, it is your decision on which
tournaments to participate, and we will respect your wishes accordingly.

Perth - September
THF is extremely proud to introduce “Spring Training in Perth.” We have been invited to this
one-of-a-kind baseball experience by the Perth Heat Organization. The dates will be September
24-28, 2014. SAS kids are on holiday the 25 & 26 (faculty inservice day) but we would require the
players leaving school 2 hours early on the 24 to accommodate the flight schedule. During the
four days in Perth, THF players will have 3 elite training sessions conducted by the Perth Heat
players and coaching staff at Barbagallo Park. Additionally, our teams will play 4-5 games against
the finest crop of baseball players in Western Australia. Cultural experiences will include a visit to
Caversham Wildlife Park, Perth’s world-renowned beaches, and Kings Park. This trip is intended
for players and coaches, but families who would like to attend are welcome. Our players will be
experiencing homestay with local meals, developing lifelong friendships, learning new cultures, and
launching their 2014/2015 season will elite instruction and competition. This invitation is being
offered to THF’s 10U, 12U, 14U, 15U, and 17U age groups.

Japan - October
During October break, THF is working with the Japan Boys League for a 7-day trip to compete
against Japanese club teams. This past March, JBL hosted three THF teams in Osaka and it was a
baseball experience that only kids can only dream of. Our teams were treated like royalty with
greeting processions and cultural exchanges that will be part of our lifelong memories. Including a
professional baseball game at Koshein and local visits to spectacular sights and sounds throughout
Osaka, each age group played against top-tiered Japanese teams in historic old ballparks. Based on
JBL’s finalized plans, THF plans to bring all Club Teams to participate in this one-of-a-kind
baseball experience, which will include a minimum of 5 games, cultural outings with our hosts and
sightseeing adventures, including the bullet train and Mount Fuji.
Singapore - February
nd
In late February 2015 (Chinese New Year break), THF will be hosting our 2 Annual THF Classic.
We will be expanding our age divisions to include 10U and 14U, and 12U will still remain. For
those of you who experienced The Classic this past year, you will appreciate how high we have set
the bar for our annual tournament. We will be inviting 24 International teams to compete for the
championship, with a 5 game minimum for all participants. Last year’s banquet dinner was held at
Universal Studios, where we exclusively rented out the entire theme park with complimentary rides
for all guests. Players will also enjoy our Home Run Derby, professional umpiring, impeccable
fields, and world-class features to complete the elite baseball experience. The 4-day THF Classic
will be complimentary to all Club Team players.
Italy - March
During Spring Break in March 2015, three THF teams will embark on a 9-day European baseball
adventure. Playing against the top 14-17-year-olds from Italy and surrounding European nations,
THF players will experience a brand of international baseball unlike any other. Held at the Major
League Baseball Italian Academy in beautiful Tirrenia, this all-inclusive package features elite-level
training and instruction with MLB International personnel, on-site accommodation, three daily
meals and laundry service for all players. Multiple fields as well as on-site batting cages and weight
room facilities allow for an optimal training facility, and make Tirrenia the ideal setup for a fullimmersion baseball experience. THF players will enjoy cultural experiences such as a visit to the
Leaning Tower of Pisa, scenic Florence and historic Rome, all while taking in plenty of high-level
baseball. It is a travel- and baseball-lover’s dream tour!
USA - June
st
The Hit Factory’s 1 Annual High School USA Summer Tour. In the Summer of 2015, The Hit
Factory Coaching Staff will lead a select number of High School Players from across the region to
participate in a 6-week summer baseball tour. This trip will include a competitive selection process
run by the THF Professional Coaching Staff. Approximately (6) High School players (per team
fielded) will be selected from the Singapore THF Club Team to participate in the program. The
remaining roster spots will be made available to select players from Japan, Hong Kong, Dubai,
Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and other countries in the region. The program will consist of 30
games in 40 days. The THF Club Team players who are selected to participate in this action
packed program will have their talents and sportsmanship tested against numerous teams from
California, Oregon, Utah, Arizona and Nevada. Players will tour in a team bus and nightly
accommodations will be a combination of affordable hotels and host families. The games
themselves will be a combination of friendlies and regional weekend tournaments at the different
locations during the trip. The trip will also include cultural and fun events such as MLB games,
white water rafting, amusement parks, and In-N-Out Burger!
