Frequently asked questions
What happens if I miss the
accommodation application deadline?
Whilst you won’t be guaranteed University-arranged
accommodation, we’ll help you find a place to live in
self-catering residences or the private sector. We’d advise
you to get in touch as soon as you can so we can help.
How do I pay for my
University-arranged accommodation?
There are a variety of different payment methods,
depending on which accommodation site you’ve been offered.
Full payment instructions are provided in your offer pack,
including methods and the dates you’ll need to pay your
fees by. Wherever you’re living, you’ll need to make a
payment before you’re handed your room keys, so remember
to bring payment methods with you on the day you move in.
When can I move in?
Your offer pack will detail the date you can move in.
This tends to be the weekend before term starts. If you
can’t move in on this date you’ll need to let the site
management team know in advance so they can make
alternative arrangements for you.
Who are University Partnerships
Programme (UPP), Derwent Living
and Unite?
These are external developers who own and manage the
self-catering sites. They’re all recognised providers of
student accommodation so you’re in safe hands. Find out
more about them from their websites:
What’s in a fully fitted bedroom?
It depends on the site, but you can expect a single bed, a
wardrobe, a desk, a chair, bookshelves, curtains, a notice board
and a waste bin. Some sites will have additional items and
these will be listed in your offer pack.
What’s in a fully fitted kitchen?
In a shared flat you’ll find an oven, hob, fridge/freezer, sink,
cupboard space and cleaning equipment. Some sites will have
additional appliances like kettles and microwaves. Kitchens
normally have dining furniture provided too. In studios you’ll
have a hob, a microwave/oven, fridge/freezer, sink and
cupboard space. Cleaning equipment will be made available
and dining furniture is provided.
Where is most of the
private sector housing?
Most of our students live in Beeston, Dunkirk, Lenton,
Radford and Wollaton. These areas of Nottingham are close
to University Park and Jubilee Campus, have a good supply of
local amenities and excellent transport links to the city centre.
What’s the average rent for a house
in the private sector?
The average rent ranges from £180 – £220 per month, with
bills excluded. Some houses will be cheaper and others more
expensive depending on the location and facilities available.
