ABOUT THIS WARRANTY
workmanship and materials for the life of the original tread or 60
months from the date of manufacture, which is based on the original
BFGoodrich DOT* number molded on the tire sidewall (whichever
occurs first). At that time, all warranties, express or implied, expire.
The information contained in this manual is provided to enable
you to operate your tires safely. It is therefore important that this
information is made readily available to all personnel involved
in the operation of the tires. In addition, the danger of neglecting
the advice contained in this manual should be explained to all
managers, drivers, mechanics and other personnel involved with the
maintenance and use of the tires.
Certain BFGoodrich commercial truck tires used only in long-haul
service according to the instructions contained in this Operator’s
Manual, are covered by this limited warranty against defects in
workmanship and materials for up to 2 retreads for 60 months from
the date of manufacture, as defined above, when retreaded by an
authorized Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT) dealer or an Oliver
Retread dealer (Extended Warranty). At that time, all warranties,
express or implied, expire.

WHAT IS COVERED AND FOR HOW LONG –
COMMERCIAL USE
Tires covered by this Extended Warranty must have been inspected
by an authorized BFGoodrich commercial truck tire dealer and
retreaded by an authorized Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT)
dealer or an authorized Oliver Retread dealer, in accordance
with the repair and retreading standards set by the Tire Industry
Association and/or Michelin Retread Technologies, Inc., (MRTI)
and/or Oliver Retread dealer.
Workmanship and Materials
Except as limited in this document, every BFGoodrich® commercial
truck tire bearing the BFGoodrich® brand and complete serial and
identification numbers, used in commercial service, according to
the instructions contained in this Limited Warranty and Operator’s
Manual, are covered by this limited warranty against defects in

Definitions
WHAT IS NOT COVERED
The life of the original usable tread is the original tread down to the
level of the treadwear indicators – 2/32nds of an inch (1.6 mm) of
tread remaining.* Date of purchase is documented by new vehicle
registration or tire sales invoice. If no proof of purchase is available,
coverage will be based on the date of manufacture, as molded on
the sidewall. The date of manufacture is based on the original
BFGoodrich DOT** number molded on the tire sidewall.
Replacement will be made in accordance with the terms and
conditions described under “HOW REPLACEMENT CHARGES ARE
CALCULATED” on Page 4.
Tires/casings which become unserviceable due to:
– Road hazard injury (e.g., a cut, snag, bruise, impact damage or
puncture);
– Incorrect mounting of the tire, tire/wheel imbalance, improper
retread or improper repair;
– Misapplication, improper maintenance, racing, under inflation,
over inflation or other abuse resulting in casing damage or
fatigue;
– Accident, fire, chemical corrosion, contamination, tire alteration
or vandalism;
– Flat spotting caused by improper storage;
– The addition of liquid, solid or gaseous materials other than air,
nitrogen or carbon dioxide;
– Uses other than long haul service for any extended warranty
casing claims;
– Uneven or rapid wear caused by mechanical irregularity in the
vehicle, such as wheel misalignment, resulting in damage to the
under-tread, carcass or steel belts;
– Ozone or weather checking.

HOW REPLACEMENT CHARGES ARE CALCULATED
Long Haul Tires with Extended Warranty
Workmanship and Materials
If your Long Haul tire covered by the “60 months/2-Retreads
Manufacturer’s Limited Casing Warranty (Extended Warranty)”
becomes unserviceable due to a condition covered by this warranty
before providing 60 months and 2 retreads of service, BFGoodrich
commercial truck tires will provide casing credit based on the
following schedule:
Warranty claims can only be processed through an authorized
BFGoodrich commercial truck tire dealer. A tire which becomes
unserviceable due to a condition covered by this workmanship and
materials limited warranty will be replaced with a comparable new
BFGoodrich® commercial truck tire, for a pro rata charge.
The BFGoodrich commercial truck tire dealer will determine the
charge by multiplying the percentage of the original usable tread
worn by the current dealer selling price at the adjustment location
or the price on the current BFGoodrich commercial truck tires Base
Price List, whichever is lower.

The vehicle on which the tire was used must be made available to
the BFGoodrich commercial truck tire representative for inspection.
WHAT YOU MUST DO WHEN MAKING A CLAIM
You pay the cost of mounting, balancing, and any other
service charges and applicable taxes.
When making a claim under the terms of this limited warranty,
you must present your tire/casing to an authorized BFGoodrich
commercial truck tire dealer. You pay any service charges for normal
vehicle and tire maintenance.

CONDITIONS AND EXCLUSIONS
SAFETY MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
Unless this limitation is prohibited by state law, this warranty does
not provide compensation for loss of time, loss of use of vehicle,
inconvenience, or incidental or consequential damages. Tires/
casings presented for claim remain the property of the owner, and
BFGoodrich® commercial truck tires accept no responsibility for loss
of, or damage to, tires/casings, which are in the custody or control
of an authorized BFGoodrich commercial truck tire dealer for the
purpose of inspection for warranty adjustment.
Read the BFGoodrich commercial truck tire Data Book, the
BFGoodrich commercial truck tire Limited Warranty and Operator’s
Manual, the information on the sidewall of your tires, your vehicle
owner’s manual and vehicle tire information placard for essential
safety and maintenance information.
When Service Is Required:
1. Contact an authorized BFGoodrich commercial truck tire dealer
listed in the dealer locator on www.bfgoodrichtrucktires.com.
Tires accepted for claim become the property of Michelin North
America, Inc., (MNA). In the event of a disputed claim, the owner
must make the tire available for further inspection. No BFGoodrich
commercial truck tire representative, employee or dealer has
the authority to make or imply any representation, promise or
agreement, which in any way varies the terms of this limited
warranty.
2. If additional assistance is needed in locating an authorized
BFGoodrich commercial truck tire dealer, please call or write to
BFGoodrich commercial truck tire consumer care listed on
Page 13.
This limited warranty applies only in the United States.

SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS
CHECK THE COLD INFLATION PRESSURE IN ALL YOUR TIRES,
INCLUDING THE SPARES, AT LEAST ONCE EACH WEEK.
WARNING
Disregarding any of the safety precautions and instructions
contained in this manual may result in tire failure or
explosion causing serious personal injury or death.
Failure to maintain correct inflation pressure may result in sudden
tire destruction, improper vehicle handling, and may cause rapid
and irregular wear. Therefore, inflation pressures should be checked
weekly and always before long distance trips.
DRIVING ON ANY TIRE THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE CORRECT
INFLATION PRESSURE IS DANGEROUS AND MAY CAUSE
IRREPARABLE TIRE DAMAGE.
Pressures should be checked when tires are cold, that is, before
they have been driven on. The ideal time to check tire pressures
is early morning. Driving, even for a short distance, causes tires to
heat up and air pressures to increase.
Any underinflated tire builds up excessive heat that may result in
tire destruction.
Never bleed air from hot tires. “Bleeding” air from a hot tire could
result in underinflation.
The correct inflation pressure for your tires is a function of many
factors including: load, speed, road surface, and handling.
Use an accurate tire gauge to check pressures. If your pressure
check indicates that one of your tires has lost pressure of four
pounds or more, look for signs of penetration, valve leakage, or
wheel damage that may account for the air loss.
Consult your BFGoodrich commercial truck tire dealer for the proper
inflation pressures for your application or follow the indications in
the BFGoodrich Commercial Truck Tire Data Book (BWT42029).
Any tire suspected of having been run flat or run at very low air

Inspection
pressure (less than 80% of normal operating pressure) should never
be re-inflated without careful inspection of the entire tire.
Always examine your tires for bulges, cracks, cuts, penetrations and
abnormal tire wear, particularly on the edges of the tire tread, which
may be caused by misalignment or underinflation.
Consult your BFGoodrich commercial truck tire dealer for proper
maintenance recommendations.
If any such damage is found, the tire must be inspected by your
BFGoodrich commercial truck tire dealer at once. Use of a damaged
tire could result in rapid pressure loss and sudden tire destruction.
INSPECT YOUR TIRES DAILY, IF YOU SEE ANY DAMAGE
TO YOUR TIRES OR WHEELS, SEE YOUR BFGOODRICH
COMMERCIAL TRUCK TIRE DEALER AT ONCE.
Failure to control a vehicle when one or more tires experience a
sudden pressure loss can lead to an accident.
Hazards
All tires will wear out faster when subjected to high speeds as well
as hard cornering, rapid starts, sudden stops, frequent driving on
surfaces which are in poor condition, and off-road use.
Driving over potholes, curbs, glass, metal, rocks, wood debris and
the like, can damage a tire and should be safely avoided.
Unavoidable contact with such hazards should prompt a thorough
tire inspection.
Surfaces with holes and rocks or other objects can damage tires and
cause vehicle misalignment. When driving on such surfaces, drive
carefully and slowly, and before driving again at normal or highway
speeds, examine your tires for any damage, such as cuts, bulges,
penetrations, unusual wear patterns, etc.
If you see damage to your tires or wheels, replace with a spare and
immediately visit a BFGoodrich commercial truck tire dealer for
advice.

Wear Bars
speed will cause the tire to build up excessive heat which can
result in sudden tire destruction, property damage, and personal
injury.

BFGoodrich commercial truck tires contain “wear bars” in the
grooves of the tire tread. They are revealed when only 2/32nds of an
inch or less of the tread is remaining. At this stage your tires must
be removed.
When driving at highway speeds*, correct inflation pressure is
especially important. However, at these speeds, even with the
correct inflation pressures, a road hazard, for example, is more
difficult to avoid and if contact is made, has a greater chance of
causing tire damage than at a lower speed. Moreover, driving at
high speeds reduces the reaction time required to avoid accidents
and bring your vehicle to a safe stop.
Tires worn beyond this stage are dangerous. (Federal law requires
that truck tires on front axles have at least 4/32nds tread depth.)
HIGH SPEED* DRIVING CAN BE DANGEROUS AND MAY
DAMAGE YOUR TIRES
If you see any damage to a tire or wheel, replace the tire with a
spare at once and visit your BFGoodrich commercial truck tire dealer
for a complete inspection.
The maximum speed at which BFGoodrich commercial truck tires
can be operated is indicated in the BFGoodrich Commercial Truck
Tire Data Book. This speed varies for each type of tire. It depends on
the type of application and may be less than the posted legal limit.
*Exceeding the legal speed limit is neither recommended nor endorsed.
Consult a BFGoodrich commercial truck tire dealer for assistance in
determining the maximum speed for your application including the
proper load inflation recommendations. Exceeding this maximum

is recommended that you have your tires and wheels dynamically
balanced.
DO NOT OVERLOAD. DRIVING ON ANY OVERLOADED TIRE IS
DANGEROUS.
CHECK HOW YOUR TIRES ARE WEARING AT LEAST ONCE EACH
MONTH.
The maximum load that can be put on a truck tire is dependent
upon the speed at which the tire will be used. Consult your
BFGoodrich commercial truck tire dealer and a BFGoodrich
commercial truck tire Data Book for complete information on the
allowable loads for the tires in your application. Tires which are
loaded beyond their maximum allowable load for the particular
application will build up excessive heat that may result in sudden
tire destruction, property damage, and personal injury.
If your tires show signs of irregular wear, your vehicle may be out of
alignment. This condition not only shortens the life of your tires but
also adversely affects the handling characteristics of your vehicle,
which could be dangerous. If irregular wear is indicated, check
the alignment of your vehicle’s wheels and the parallelism of your
vehicle’s axles. Tires which have been run underinflated will show
more wear on the shoulders than in the crown of the tread.
In the case of dual mounted tires, if one of the tires is run
underinflated or flat then the other tire will become severely
overloaded which could lead to tire failure. “Limping in” is illegal
and should never be attempted.
For optimum tire life and performance, the front end alignment
on trucks equipped with BFGoodrich® commercial truck tires
should be in accordance with the recommendations of the vehicle
manufacturer. Tires and wheels which are not balanced may cause
steering difficulties, a bumpy ride, and worn spots on the tires. It

TIRE MIXING
IMPROPERLY RETREADED AND/OR REPAIRED TIRES ARE
DANGEROUS AND CAN CAUSE TIRE DESTRUCTION, PROPERTY
DAMAGE AND PERSONAL INJURY.
Only tires of identical size and construction should be mounted on
the same axle.
Retreading and repairing of BFGoodrich® commercial truck tires
should be carried out only by qualified personnel with proper
equipment. For further information, consult your BFGoodrich
commercial truck tire dealer.
TIRE ALTERATIONS
Do not make or allow any alterations to be made to your tires.
Alterations may prevent proper performance, leading to tire damage
which can result in an accident. Tires which become unserviceable
due to alterations such as, but not limited to, truing, addition of
balancing or sealant liquids, or the use of tire dressings containing
petroleum distillates, are excluded from warranty coverage.
Plug-only repairs done on-the-wheel are considered improper and
are, therefore, not recommended. Such repairs are not reliable and
may cause further damage to the tire.
If a tire sustains a puncture, have the tire demounted and
thoroughly inspected by any BFGoodrich commercial truck tire
dealer for possible damage that may have occurred.

STORAGE
FOLLOW THESE MOUNTING RECOMMENDATIONS TO
PREVENT TIRE DESTRUCTION, PROPERTY DAMAGE, AND
PERSONAL INJURY.
All tires should be stored in a cool, dry, clean indoor environment so
that there is no danger of water collecting inside them.
Regulations and recommendations published by the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration of the U.S. Department of
Labor (OSHA) explain in detail the proper manner to mount and
demount tires for trucks. You should ensure that you are always
in compliance with these regulations and recommendations. In
addition, always bear in mind the following considerations:
Tires contain waxes and emollients to protect their outer surfaces
from ozone and weather checking. As the tire rolls and flexes,
the waxes and emollients continually migrate to the surface,
replenishing this protection throughout the normal use of the tire.
Consequently, when tires sit outdoors, unused for long periods
of time (a month or more) their surfaces become dry and more
susceptible to ozone and weather checking. For this reason, tires
should always be stored in a cool, dry, clean indoor environment,
away from sources of heat and ozone, such as hot pipes or electric
generators. Be sure that surfaces on which tires are stored are
free from grease, gasoline, or other such substances which could
deteriorate the rubber. TIRES EXPOSED TO OR DRIVEN ON THESE
SUBSTANCES COULD BE SUBJECT TO SUDDEN FAILURE.
Be sure that all rim components (i.e. flanges, rim base, etc.) match.
Be sure to check rim/wheel manufacturer’s specifications.
Tires should be mounted on rims and wheels which are in good,
clean condition. Bent, chipped or rusted wheels, rims, or rim
components can cause tire damage and can also malfunction
causing an accident.
When changing any tire, deflate the tire before loosening any wheel
or rim lugs. Always install new valve cores with new mountings.
Failure to store tires in accordance with these instructions could
result in premature aging of the tires and sudden tire failure.

PREPARATION OF WHEELS AND RIMS
LUBRICANT: Always use a proper lubricant when mounting tires. Use
only a thin vegetable oil, soap solution or other approved rubber
lubricant. Never use anti-freeze, silicones, or petroleum based
lubricants. Do not let excessive lubricant run down and collect
inside the tire.
Prior to fitment, wheel assemblies should be thoroughly inspected
for any damage such as cracks, warpage, deformation of flanges or
stud hole damage. If any one of these conditions is discovered, the
rim/wheel should be discarded. All burrs, welds, hammer dents,
etc, that are present on the tire side of the rim must be smoothed
with a file and/or emery cloth. Remove all rust with a wire brush and
apply a rust inhibiting paint.
SAFETY CAGE: Always use a safety cage or other OSHA approved
restraining devices when inflating a truck tire. Never stand over a
tire or in front of a valve when inflating. Before final inflation, check
the assembly carefully for signs of weakness or irregularities. When
wheel assemblies are mounted on a vehicle, be sure that the valves
do not touch the brake drums or any mechanical part of the vehicle.
VALVE CAPS: It is essential that suitable valve caps be fitted to
avoid leaking. The valve cap is the primary seal. After mounting,
check the assembly for leaks.

DUAL MOUNTING: Tires mounted in duals must be matched so that
the maximum difference between the diameters of the tires does
not exceed ¼ inch. Failure to properly match dual tires will result in
the tire with the larger diameter carrying a disproportionate share of
the load which can cause sudden tire destruction, property damage,
and personal injury.

It is also important that sufficient dual spacing be provided to allow
air to flow and cool the tires and to prevent them from rubbing
against one another. See your BFGoodrich commercial truck tire
dealer for information on the minimum dual spacing required and
for complete mounting instructions.

5. OWNER/USE OBLIGATIONS
a. To make a claim under this limited warranty, you must present
your claim with the tire/casing to a CTA brand tire retailer or vehicle
dealer authorized to handle tire adjustments. You will be required to
sign the CTA brand tire adjustment replacement claim form.
b. You are responsible for payment of all applicable taxes and
charges incurred during replacement or repair of tires including
demounting, mounting and balancing. You are also responsible for
payment for tire rotation, alignment, towing, road service and valve
stem.
IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNING AND
MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
Any tire, no matter how well constructed, may fail as a result of a
puncture, impact damage, improper inflation or other condition resulting
from improper use. Tire failures such as a blowout or a tread and belt
detachment may create a risk of injury or death and/or property
damage. To reduce the risk of tire failure, Continental Tire strongly
recommends you read the vehicle owner’s manual, tire placard information, and tire sidewall information regarding safety warnings, proper tire
use and maintenance.
SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH MAY RESULT FROM TIRE
FAILURE OR EXPLOSION AS A RESULT OF ANY OF THE
FOLLOWING:
1. CHECK the pressure in your tires at least monthly, preferably before
every trip, when the tires are cool (after the vehicle has been stopped
three (3) hours and then driven less than one mile). Do not reduce
pressure when tires are hot. Use a quality tire gauge to check pressure
and maintain it at the level recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
Remember – under inflation is the most common cause of blowouts or
sudden failures in any kind of tire and may result in unexpected loss of
vehicle control or accidents. Permanent tire damage due to under-inflation and/or overloading cannot always be detected. Any tire known or
suspected to have been run at 80% or less of normal operating
inflation pressure and/or overloaded could possibly have permanent
structural damage (steel cord fatigue). Ply cords weakened by
under-inflation and/or overloading may break one after another; until a
rupture occurs in the upper sidewall with accompanying instantaneous
air loss and explosive force.

6. AVOID excessive tire spinning when your vehicle is stuck in snow,
mud or sand and never exceed 35 mph indicated on speedometer. The
centrifugal forces generated by a free spinning tire/wheel assembly
may cause a sudden tire expansion resulting in vehicle damage and/or
serious personal injury. Use a gentle backward and forward rocking
motion to free your vehicle for continued driving. Never stand near or
behind a tire spinning at high speed while attempting to push a vehicle
that is stuck.
7. CHECK your tires frequently for scrapes, bulges, separations, cuts
or snags resulting from use. Impact can damage the inner portions of
your tire without being visible on the outside. If you suspect that
possible impact damage may have occurred, have an authorized CTA
dealer inspect the inner surface of your tire immediately in order to
avoid possible sudden failure.
8. NEVER operate your vehicle in excess of lawful speeds or the maximum speeds justified by driving conditions.
9. MAKE every effort to avoid running over objects that may damage

10. NEVER drive on smooth tires. Vehicles under the jurisdiction of the
Bureau of Motor Carrier Safety (more than 10,000 lbs. gross vehicle
weight) must by law have at least 4/32nds inch tread depth on frontwheel tires. On vehicles of 10,000 lbs. or less gross vehicle weight,
front tires must be replaced when worn to the treadwear indicators or
2/32nds inch. On any vehicle, tires in drive and/or trailer positions must
be replaced when worn to the treadwear indicators or 2/32nds inch
tread depth remaining.

LIMITED WARRANTY/ADJUSTMENT POLICY
This Limited Warranty and Adjustment Policy (“Limited Warranty
and Policy”) issued by Continental Tire the Americas, LLC. (“CTA”) is a
promise of replacement under certain specified conditions. It applies to
tires in normal highway service displaying adjustable conditions (see
Section 4 – Exclusions) and does not require the existence of a deficiency
in workmanship or materials in order to qualify for adjustment.
THIS LIMITED WARRANTY AND POLICY IS NOT A WARRANTY
THAT YOUR TIRE WILL NOT FAIL OR BECOME UNSERVICEABLE
IF NEGLECTED OR MISTREATED.
1. ELIGIBILITY
This Limited Warranty and Policy applies to the original owner of new
Continental/General brand On/Off-Highway Radial Truck Tires used in
normal service bearing our brand name and serial numbers ("Eligible
Tires").
Tires branded "Blem" (Blemish) will be adjusted on the original tread
in the same manner as described below except ride and/or appearance
conditions are not considered adjustable. Tires branded "used" or
scribed with an "X" are not eligible under this Limited Warranty and
Policy.
All tires must be installed and used according to the vehicle
manufacturer's and CTA's recommendations.
2. WHAT IS THE ADJUSTMENT POLICY AND
FOR HOW LONG?
ORIGINAL TREAD (New Tire)
Eligible Tires receive the following coverage: HSL Eco Plus and HDL
Eco Plushave an extended original casing warranty of 7 years (84
months), all other prod
ucts have a maximum of 6 years (72 months)
from date of purchase. If a Medium or Heavy Truck Tire in normal
service comes unserviceable from a condition other than those listed
under section 4 during the time or treadwear periods shown below, it
will be replaced with a comparable** new Continental/General brand
tire according to a, b and c, below.

b. PRO-RATA REPLACEMENT CREDIT POLICY
After the free replacement policy expires and the tire or tube is still
within the warranty time frame outlined in section 2c*, you will receive
a replacement pro-rata credit (excluding tax) toward the purchase of a
comparable** new Continental/General brand tire or tube equal to the
percentage of tread depth remaining to the treadwear indicators
(2/32nds of an inch), at which time the tread is worn out.
* If the months of service and date of purchase for an Eligible Tire cannot be accurately determined, adjustment credit will be based upon the
date of manufacture (DOT serial number) and tread depth remaining.
4. WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY THE
ADJUSTMENT POLICY
** A “comparable” new Continental/General brand tire may be either
the same tire line or the same basic construction but with a different
sidewall or tread configuration. If a higher priced tire is accepted as
replacement, the owner will pay the difference in price. Any tire
replaced under this Limited Warranty and Policy will be covered by the
then current CTA Limited Warranty and Policy.
a. NON-ADJUSTABLE CONDITIONS
Road hazards – cuts, snags, tread tearing or chunking, punctures,
bruises or impact breaks and any damage caused by improper puncture
or tire repair such as separation in any part of the tire. Continued use
while the tire is flat.
Damage – tire damage or failure resulting from improper operation or
maintenance — load, speed and inflation practices, causing excessive
operational temperatures to exceed the tire capabilities.
Premature removal for irregular treadwear or fast
wearout– tire failure or tire damage resulting from: vehicle accidents,
improper mounting, demounting, damaged wheel and rim components,
wheel misalignment, tire trueing, chain damage, brake or any similar
mechanical problem, extreme temperature exposure, misuse, negligence
or abusive driving such as tire spinning or racing, and improper use
contrary to the vehicle manufacturer’s tire recommendations.
Age Conditions
– age conditions, such as cracks, on tires purchased
more than four (4) years prior to presentation for adjustment are considered not adjustable. If proof of purchase date is not provided, the tire
serial number will be used.
Intentional Alterations – such as tread regrooving or adding
sealant materials to the tire.
Casings – if casings/retreads are not identified for number of retreads
applied, credit will be allowed at the lowest value only.
Radial casing failure due to improper retreading practices or tread worn
beyond retread point (4/32nds) or used in not approved service application. Radial casings older than the number of months specified from date
of manufacture, or retreaded more than the number of specified times,
or branded “used.”
c. RADIAL CASING PROVISIONS (Retreads)
The radial casing provisions will apply to tire/casing operating in
“normal highway service” only – tire/casings used in off-the-highway
service (construction or mining) are not eligible under these casing
provisions.
In the event a Radial Medium or Heavy Truck Tire/Casing will not
accept the first retread due to an adjustable condition, it is eligible for
the applicable casing value shown below.
In addition, casings already retreaded and that are within the number
of months specified below from date of manufacture of the casing (DOT
Serial Number) or number of retreads specified, whichever comes first,
are eligible for the applicable casing value shown in table 1 below.
All casing credits will be allowed toward the purchase of a comparable
new Continental/General brand Medium or Heavy Truck Tire.
3. HOW CREDITS ARE CALCULATED
For adjustments made on original tread tires which are not eligible
for a no charge adjustment as provided above, you will receive
replacement credit toward a new tire equal to the percentage of
remaining tread depth multiplied by the price shown on your original
invoice, if available, or on the authorized adjusting retailer’s regular
selling price (excluding tax) at the time of the claim for a comparable
new Continental/General brand tire. Owner pays current Federal Excise
Tax (not applicable for Canadian sales).

I. WHAT IS WARRANTED AND WHO IS ELIGIBLE
UNDER THIS WARRANTY
(Please refer to the Adjustment Credit Percentage Table
on page 5.)
Kumho Tire USA, Inc. 10299 6th Street, Rancho Cucamonga,
California 91730, warrants to the original consumer purchaser
that all Kumho replacement radial tires, either directly or
through an authorized Kumho dealer, and which are mounted
on cars within the United States and become unserviceable for
any reason within the manufacturer’s control, will be replaced
with an equivalent Kumho tire.
WHAT IS COVERED BY THE WARRANTY
AND FOR HOW LONG
Should any tire manufactured by Kumho Tire Co., Inc. covered
by this warranty become unserviceable due to a material
or workmanship condition during its usable tread life (more
than 2/32” remaining tread) before 6 years from the date
of manufacture or purchase date supported with proof of
purchase for every passenger and light truck tire (whichever
comes first), and before 5 years (6 years for KLS02e, KLD01e,
and KLT02e patterns) from the date of manufacture or
purchase date for commercial truck tires (whichever comes
first), Kumho will do either of the following:

During the first 2/32” of the original usable tread, Kumho
will replace such tire with a comparable new Kumho or
Marshal tire free of charge. Applicable taxes on the new
tire and costs of mounting and balancing service are
payable by the owner.
After the first 2/32” of the original usable tread, a credit
will be given toward the purchase of a comparable new
Kumho or Marshal tire to the original usable tread of
the new tire. Applicable taxes on the new tire and costs
of mounting and balancing service are payable by the
owner.
Adjustment on ride complaint or out-of-round is allowed
only during the first 2/32” of the original tread depth.
The authorized Kumho or Marshal dealer will determine
the adjustment cost by multiplying the percentage of
the original usable tread worn, by the current Kumho
or Marshal dealer’s price list effective at the time of
adjustment.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY
A.
This limited warranty is applicable only in the United
States, and any tires used or equipped on a vehicle
registered or operated outside the United States are not
covered by this warranty.
B.
Tires branded or marked Non-Adjustable (NA), or
Blemished (Blem), or with DOT/serial numbers previously
cut will not be adjusted.
C.
Any tire worn beyond the wear bars (less than 2/32”
remaining tread).
D.
The cost of applicable taxes, mounting and balancing
service and any other service charges.
E.
Tire damage or irregular wear due to:
1.
Road hazard, including puncture, cut, impact break,
bulge, snap, stone drill, or collision.
2.
Continued use while run flat or under acute
under-inflation.
3.
Improper use or operation, without limitation;
improper inflation pressure; overloading; use of an
improper rim; tire/wheel assembly imbalance or other
vehicle condition; worn suspension components;
improper mounting or demounting; misuse;
misapplication; fire or other externally generated
heat; water or other material trapped inside the tire
during mounting; tire alteration; racing or competition
purposes; and improper inserting of sealant, balance
or filler materials.
4.
Improper repair, or with repairs not conforming to the
Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) standards,
or with section repairs, or with self-vulcanizing plug
only.
5.
Failure to rotate the tire at least every 5,000 miles
as evidenced by Kumho’s Mileage Warranty/Tire
Rotation Card, or vehicle misalignment.
To obtain the credit percentage, please refer to the Adjustment
Credit Percentage Table on page 5 or utilize the
following example:

Loss of time, or use, inconvenience, or any incidental or
consequential damage.

Tires that have been modified by the addition or removal
of material or any tire intentionally altered to change its
appearance.

Tires’ unserviceability caused by the tire operation in
excess of tire/wheel manufacturer’s specifications and
recommendations.
L.
Tires that are misapplied due to insufficient speed rating,
or undersized or oversized tires.
M.
Tires that have become unserviceable because of
chemical corrosion, vandalism, chains and flat spotting.
N.
Tires involved in any racing-related activities.

This limited warranty applies only to the original

If tread has worn down to the tread wear indicators (2/32”
tread depth) within 72 months from the date of purchase
(or manufacture date), or does not deliver the warranted
miles of normal passenger use, whichever comes first,
Kumho Tire USA, Inc. will make an allowance for unused
service toward a comparable new tire, pro-rated on
warranted miles.

The replacement allowance will be calculated by the
percentage of the warranted miles not received, multiplied
by the predetermined adjustment price of the tire at the
time and place of the adjustment.
OWNER’S OBLIGATIONS
In order to be eligible for Kumho’s limited warranty program,
the owner must:

Conform to all pertaining policies detailed herein.

Present tire to any authorized Kumho dealer for
inspection along with a copy of their original purchase
receipt. Dealer will inspect tire in order to identify whether
or not it qualifies for warranty based on the policies

Pay the amount due on a new tire, less the amount of
credit, including taxes, mounting and balancing charges
and/or the cost of other services ordered.

To make a claim, the owner must present the original
customer copy of Kumho’s Mileage Warranty Card
(pictured below), which records the date of purchase,
name of purchaser, original mileage and identification of
the vehicle, to an authorized Kumho dealer.
OTHER RIGHTS
This limited warranty gives the owner of Kumho tires specific
legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary
from state to state.

IV. NEW ON REAR/ROTATION RECOMMENDATION

V. REPLACEMENT WARRANTY

by mechanical irregularity in the vehicle such as

If you receive a replacement tire under this warranty, it will be
covered by the manufacturer’s warranty and the supplemental
limited mileage warranty that Kumho Tire USA, Inc. then gives
on that tire.

Tires worn out or damaged due to improper inflation,
improper mounting, uneven wear, overloading or
off-road driving, run flat or racing, accident, fire
or chemicals, use on RV or commercial vehicle,
vandalism or gross abuse, defective mechanical
condition of vehicle, road hazard damage (puncture,
cut, impact break, etc.) or lack of tire rotation.
THIS IS THE ONLY EXPRESS WARRANTY GIVEN BY KUMHO
APPLICABLE TO KUMHO/MARSHAL REPLACEMENT TIRES.
KUMHO DOES NOT MAKE ANY OTHER EXPRESS WARRANTY
OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS
FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

For staggered/split fitments' applications (different size
tires on the front and rear axles) Kumho Tire will cover

III. ROAD HAZARD PROTECTION

REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT WARRANTY POLICIES
SAFETY WARNINGS
•
Always examine your tires for penetrations, bulges, cracks,
cuts and abnormal wear — particularly at the tire edges —
which may be caused, for example, by vehicle misalignment
or tire underinflation. Failure to properly control a vehicle
when one or more tires are underinflated may result in an
accident. Use of a damaged tire may result in rapid air loss,
including sudden tire failure.
•
An explosion of the tire/rim assembly may occur due to improper
mounting. Only specially trained persons should mount tires.
Property damage, serious personal injury or death may result
if any of the following safety precautions/recommendations are
not followed:
Driving on any underinflated tire is dangerous and may
result in sudden tire destruction caused by excessive heat
buildup. For replacement tires, your tire retailer should
provide you with the proper inflation pressure. Otherwise,
follow the air pressure recommendation found within your
vehicle’s owner’s manual or tire placard in your vehicle.
If your replacement tire size is different from the original
equipment tire size, ask your tire retailer for a revised air
pressure recommendation guide in order to adequately
support your vehicle’s gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR).
In case of an improperly repaired tire, it may be unreliable
or cause further damage to the tire. A thorough inspection
and repair of your tire should be made in accordance with
Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) procedures and be
serviced by a qualified tire service professional.
•
•
Check the cold inflation pressure in all of your tires, including
the spare tire, at least once every week and always prior to
long distance trips. Failure to maintain the proper air inflation
pressure may result in improper vehicle handling, and may
cause rapid and irregular tire wear, reduction in tire durability,
loss of vehicle control, or sudden tire failure that may lead to
property damage, serious personal injury or death.
Use an accurate tire gauge to check tire air pressures. Always
maintain the proper recommended air inflation pressure in all
tires. If there is an indication that one of your tires has lost four
or more pounds of air pressure, immediately look for signs of
penetration through the tire, valve leaks or wheel damage that
may account for the air loss. You should also have your tires
inspected by a tire retailer immediately.
•
Air pressure should be checked when tires are cold (before
they have been driven), ideally in the early morning.
Driving, regardless of distance, causes tires to heat up and
simultaneously increases air pressure.
•
Never exceed the maximum inflation pressure for the tire.
•
Never bleed air from hot tires as this may result in
under-inflation.
•
If for any reason a tire is repaired, retreaded, damaged,
abused or otherwise altered from its original manufactured
condition, the tire’s designated speed rating is void and
should be treated as a non-speed
rated tire.
Failure to store tires in accordance with the following
recommendations may result in damage to your tires,
reduction in tire durability, or sudden tire failure:
•
Tires should always be stored in a cool, dry, clean, indoor
environment. Tires contain waxes and emollients to protect
their outer surfaces from ozone and weather cracking. As
the tire rolls and flexes, the waxes and emollients continually
migrate to the tire’s surface, replenishing this protection
throughout the normal and proper use of the tire. However,
when tires sit outdoors and are unused for an extended
period of time, the tire surface becomes dry, the tire may be
susceptible to ozone and weather cracking, and the casing
becomes susceptible to flat spotting.
•
Surfaces on which tires are stored must be free from
grease, gasoline and other substances that could deteriorate the
rubber.
•
You should have a qualified technician check all tires
when the Kumho Tire USA, Inc. warranty policy period
has lapsed, even if damage is not obvious.
Do not overload your tires. Driving on any overloaded
tire is extremely dangerous and may result in an accident
causing property damage, serious personal injury or death.
•
The maximum load rating marked on the sidewall of any tire
is based on the maximum speed of operation. Tires that are
loaded beyond their maximum allowable loads for a particular
application will generate increased and excessive heat that
may cause sudden tire failure leading to property damage,
serious personal injury or death.

THIS WARRANTY
against defects in workmanship and materials for the life of the
original tread. At that time, all warranties, express or implied, expire.
Certain MICHELIN® truck tires used only in long-haul service
according to the instructions contained in this Operator’s Manual,
are covered by this limited warranty against defects in workmanship
and materials for 700,000 miles, and up to 3 retreads for 7 years from
the date of manufacture when retreaded by an authorized Michelin
Retread Technologies (MRT) Dealer. At that time, all warranties,
express or implied, expire. These products are identified with the
designation “7 Year / 700,000 Mile / 3-Retread Manufacturer’s
Limited Casing Warranty” in the commercial literature.
Tires covered by this Extended Warranty must have been inspected
by a MICHELIN® Truck Tire Retailer and retreaded by an authorized
Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT) Dealer, in accordance with the
repair and retreading standards set by the Tire Industry Association
and Michelin Retread Technologies, Inc., (MRTI).
As the original purchaser of a MICHELIN® brand truck tire,
you are covered by all the benefits and conditions (subject to the
maintenance recommendations and safety warnings) contained in
this booklet. To ensure your understanding of and compliance with
the terms and conditions of this warranty, please read it carefully.
It is essential that you also read and understand the Safety and
Maintenance Recommendations for your tires beginning on Page 7.

Workmanship and Materials
Except as limited below, MICHELIN® truck tires bearing the
MICHELIN® name and complete serial and identification numbers,
used in commercial service, according to the instructions contained
in this Operator’s Manual, are covered by this limited warranty

registration or tire sales invoice. If no proof of purchase is available,
coverage will be based on the date of manufacture, as molded on the
sidewall. The date of manufacture is based on the original
MICHELIN® DOT* number molded on the tire sidewall. The mileage
received will be based on fleet records. Replacement will be made
in accordance with the terms and conditions described under
“HOW REPLACEMENT CHARGES ARE CALCULATED” on Page 4.
Workmanship and Materials
MICHELIN® truck tires bearing the MICHELIN® name and
complete serial and identification numbers, used in consumer
service, such as on a motorhome, according to the instructions
contained in this Operator’s Manual, are covered by this limited
warranty against defects in workmanship and materials for the life of
the original tread or five years from the date of purchase, whichever
occurs first. At that time, all warranties, expressed or implied, expire.
Definitions
The life of the original usable tread is the original tread down to
the level of the treadwear indicators – 2 ⁄ 32nds of an inch (1.6 mm)
of tread remaining. Date of purchase is documented by new vehicle

Tires/casings which become unserviceable due to:
– Road hazard injury (e.g., a cut, snag, bruise, impact damage or
puncture);
– Incorrect mounting of the tire, tire/wheel imbalance, improper
retread or improper repair;
– Misapplication, improper maintenance, racing, underinflation,
overinflation or other abuse resulting in casing damage or fatigue;
– Accident, fire, chemical corrosion, contamination, tire alteration
or vandalism;
– Flat spotting caused by improper storage;
– The addition of liquid, solid or gaseous materials other than air,
nitrogen or carbon dioxide;
– Uses other than long haul service for any extended warranty
casing claims;
– Uneven or rapid wear caused by mechanical irregularity in the
vehicle, such as wheel misalignment, resulting in damage to the
under-tread, carcass or steel belts;
– Ozone or weather checking.
REPLACEMENT CHARGES ARE CALCULATED
Workmanship and Materials
A tire which becomes unserviceable due to a condition covered
by this workmanship and materials limited warranty will be replaced
with a comparable new MICHELIN® truck tire, for a pro rata charge.
The MICHELIN® Truck Tire Retailer will determine the charge by
multiplying the percentage of the original usable tread worn by the
current selling price at the adjustment location or the price on the
current MICHELIN® Truck Tires Base Price List, whichever is lower.
You pay the cost of mounting, balancing, and any other service
charges and applicable taxes.

Long Haul Tires with Extended Warranty
If your Long Haul tire covered by the “7 Year / 700,000 Mile /
3-Retread Manufacturer’s Limited Casing Warranty” becomes
unserviceable due to a condition covered by this warranty before
providing 700,000 miles and 3 retreads of service, Michelin will
provide casing credit based on the following schedule:

Unless this limitation is prohibited by state law, this warranty
does not provide compensation for loss of time, loss of use of
vehicle, inconvenience, or incidental or consequential damages.
Tires/casings presented for claim remain the property of the
owner/consumer, and MICHELIN® brand accepts no responsibility
for loss of, or damage to, tires/casings, which are in the custody
or control of a MICHELIN® Truck Tire Retailer for the purpose of
inspection for warranty adjustment.
Tires accepted for claim become the property of Michelin
North America, Inc, (MNA).
In the event of a disputed claim, the owner/consumer must
make the tire available for further inspection.
No Michelin representative, employee or retailer has the authority
to make or imply any representation, promise or agreement, which in
any way varies the terms of this limited warranty.
This limited warranty applies only in the United States.

sidewall of your tires, your vehicle owner’s manual and vehicle

�CHECK THE COLD INFLATION PRESSURES IN ALL
� WARNING
Disregarding any of the safety pre­cau­tions and
in­struc­tions contained in this manual may result
in tire fail­ure or explosion causing serious
per­son­al injury or death.
YOUR TIRES, INCLUDING THE SPARE, AT LEAST
ONCE EACH WEEK
Failure to maintain correct inflation pressure may result in
improper vehicle handling and may cause rapid and irregular tire
wear, sudden tire destruction, loss of vehicle control and serious
personal injury. Therefore, inflation pressures should be checked
at least once each week and always prior to long distance trips.
Pressures should be checked when tires are cold; in other
words, before they have been driven on. The ideal time to check
tire pressures is early morning. Driving, even for a short distance,
causes tires to heat up and pressure to increase.
Never bleed air from hot tires. Bleeding air from hot tires could
result in underinflation.
Use an accurate tire gauge to check pressures. Never allow
children to inflate or deflate tires.
If your pressure check indicates that one of your tires has lost
�DRIVING ON ANY TIRE THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE
CORRECT INFLATION PRESSURE IS DANGEROUS
Any underinflated tire builds up excessive heat that may result
in sudden tire destruction. For replacement tires, the correct
inflation pressure will be provided by your MICHELIN® Truck Tire
Retailer. If not, refer to the vehicle placard.
The placard indicates the minimum inflation pressures which
must be maintained. However, do not exceed the maximum
inflation pressure for the tire or for the wheel on which it is
mounted.

Inspection
Always examine your tires for bulges, cracks, cuts, penetrations
and abnormal tire wear, particularly on the edges of the tire tread,
which may be caused by misalignment or underinflation.
If any such damage is found, the tire must be inspected by
a MICHELIN® Truck Tire Retailer at once. Use of a damaged tire
could result in rapid pressure loss and sudden tire destruction.
Failure to control a vehicle when one or more tires experience a
sudden pressure loss can lead to an accident.
All tires will wear out faster when subjected to high speeds as
well as hard cornering, rapid starts, sudden stops, frequent
driving on surfaces which are in poor condition, and off-road use.
Surfaces with holes and rocks or other objects can damage tires
and cause vehicle misalignment. When driving on such surfaces,
drive carefully and slowly, and before driving again at normal or
highway speeds, examine your tires for any damage, such as cuts,
bulges, penetrations, unusual wear patterns, etc.

�WEAR BARS
MICHELIN® truck tires contain “Wear Bars” in the grooves
of the tire tread which show up when only 2⁄ 32nds of an inch
(1.6 mm) of tread is remaining. At this stage, tires must be
replaced. Tires worn beyond this stage are dangerous.
(Federal law requires the tires on front axles of a Bus, Truck
or Truck Tractor to have at least 4 ⁄ 32nds of an inch of tread
depth remaining.)
If you see any damage to a tire or wheel, replace it with the spare
at once and visit a MICHELIN® Truck Tire Retailer.
The maximum speed at which MICHELIN truck tires can
be operated is indicated in the MICHELIN® Truck Tire Data
Book. This speed varies for each type of tire and depends on the
type of application. Consult a MICHELIN® Truck Tire Retailer
for assistance in determining the maximum speed for your
application.
Exceeding this maximum speed will cause the tire to build up
excessive heat, which can cause tire damage that could result in
sudden pressure loss and rapid tire destruction. Failure to control
a vehicle when one or more tires experience sudden pressure loss
can lead to an accident, property damage, and personal injury.
In any case, you should not exceed reasonable speeds as
indicated by the legal limits and driving conditions.
�HIGH SPEED DRIVING CAN BE DANGEROUS
Correct inflation pressure is especially important.
However, at high speeds, even with the correct inflation pressure,
a road hazard, for example, is more difficult to avoid and,
if contact is made, has a greater chance of causing tire damage
than at lower speeds. Moreover, driving at high speeds reduces
the reaction time available to avoid accidents and bring your
vehicle to a safe stop.

�WHEEL ALIGNMENT, TRACKING, AND BALANCING ARE
potential issues with balance. It is recommended that you have your
tires and wheels dynamically balanced. Tires and wheels which
are not balanced may cause steering difficulties, a bumpy ride and
irregular tire wear.
IMPORTANT FOR SAFETY AND MAXIMUM MILEAGE
FROM YOUR TIRES—CHECK HOW YOUR TIRES ARE
WEARING AT LEAST ONCE EACH MONTH
If your tires are wearing unevenly, such as the inside shoulder
of the tire wearing faster than the rest of the tread, your vehicle
may be out of alignment. This condition not only shortens the life
of your tires but also adversely affects the handling characteristics
of your vehicle, which could be dangerous. If you detect irregular
wear, have the alignment of the wheels and the parallelism of the
axles checked immediately. Also check to see that your tires are
properly inflated. Tires which have been run underinflated will
show more wear on the shoulders than in the center of the tread.
Tires which have been run overinflated will show more wear in the
center of the tread than on the shoulders.
For optimum tire life and performance, the front end alignment
on trucks equipped with MICHELIN® truck tires should be in
accordance with the recommendations of the vehicle manufacturer.
Care should be taken to ensure tire/wheel concentricity to avoid

TIRE IS DANGEROUS
The maximum load rating marked on the tire sidewall of any
truck tire is based on a specific maximum speed of operation.
Consult a MICHELIN® Truck Tire Data Book for complete
information on allowable loads for the tires in your application.
Tires which are loaded beyond their maximum allowable loads
for the particular application will build up excessive heat that
may cause sudden tire destruction, property damage and
personal injury.
In the case of dual mounted tires, if one of the tires is run
underinflated or flat then the other tire will become severely
overloaded which could lead to tire failure. “Limping in” is illegal
and should never be attempted.
�TIRE MIXING
FOUR WHEEL TRUCKS
For best performance it is recommended that the same size
and type of tire be used on all four wheel positions. If only two
MICHELIN® radial truck tires are mounted with two non-radial
tires, the radial tires should be mounted on the rear axle.
Before mixing different types of tires in any configuration on
any vehicle, be sure to check the vehicle manufacturer’s owner’s
manual for its recommendations.
It is especially important to check the vehicle manufacturer’s
owner’s manual when mixing, matching or replacing tires on
4-wheel drive vehicles, as this may require special precautions.
�TIRE ALTERATIONS
Do not make or allow to be made any alteration to your tires.
Alterations may prevent proper performance, leading to tire
damage which can result in an accident. Tires which become
unserviceable due to alterations such as, but not limited to, truing,
addition of balancing or sealant liquids, or the use of tire dressings
containing petroleum distillates, are excluded from warranty
coverage.
�IMPROPERLY RETREADED AND/OR REPAIRED TIRES ARE
DANGEROUS AND CAN CAUSE TIRE DESTRUCTION,
PROPERTY DAMAGE AND PERSONAL INJURY
Retreading and repairing of MICHELIN® truck tires should be
performed only by qualified personnel with proper equipment
using the procedures contained in MICHELIN® Retread and
Repair manuals.
If any MICHELIN® tire sustains a puncture, have the tire
demounted and thoroughly inspected by a MICHELIN® Truck Tire
Retailer for possible damage that may have occurred.
TRUCKS WITH MORE THAN FOUR WHEEL POSITIONS
For best performance, it is strongly recommended that radial
and non-radial tires not be mixed in a dual fitment.

through the inner liner and into the casing plies. For these
reasons, tires should always be stored in a cool, dry, clean indoor
environment. Failure to store tires in accordance with these
instructions could result in premature aging of the tires and
sudden tire failure.
When tires are stored, be sure they are placed away from
sources of heat and ozone, such as hot pipes and electric
generators. Be sure the surfaces on which tires are stored are
clean and free from grease, petroleum products or other
substances which could deteriorate the rubber. (Tires exposed
to these materials during storage or driving could be subject to
sudden failure.)
Plug-only repairs done on-the-wheel are considered improper
and are therefore not recommended. Such repairs are not
reliable and may cause further damage to the tire and may result
in tire failure.
�STORAGE
Tires contain waxes and emollients to protect their outer
surfaces from ozone and weather checking. As the tire rolls
and flexes, the waxes and emollients continually migrate to the
surface, replenishing this protection throughout the normal use
of the tire. Consequently, when tires sit outdoors, unused for long
periods of time (a month or more), their surfaces become dry and
more susceptible to ozone and weather checking, and the casing
becomes susceptible to flat spotting. Also serious problems occur
with tube-type tires when mounted with water trapped between
the tire and the tube. Due to pressurization, the liquid can pass

When changing any tire, always deflate the tire before loosening
any wheel or rim lugs. Always install new valve cores with new

PREVENT TIRE DESTRUCTION, PROPERTY DAMAGE
AND PERSONAL INJURY
Regulations and recommendations published by the
Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the U.S.
Department of Labor (OSHA) deal in detail with mounting
and demounting of tires for trucks. You should ensure that
you are always in compliance with these regulations and
recommendations. In addition, Michelin urges you to bear
in mind the following considerations:
Tire changing can be dangerous and must be done by
professionally trained persons using proper tools and procedures
as specified by the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA).
Tires should be mounted on wheels of the correct size and
type which are in good, clean condition. Bent, chipped, or rusted
wheels or rim components may cause tire damage and can also
malfunction causing an accident.
All wheel components (i.e. flanges, lock rings, rim base,
FOR ALL MICHELIN® TUBE-TYPE TIRES
TUBES: Always fit a new MICHELIN® tube of the proper size
in a new mounting. A tube through normal use will experience
growth; therefore, if an old tube is re-used, there is a probability
of creasing it with subsequent chafing and eventual failure of
the tube causing tire damage. MICHELIN® tubes are made of
butyl rubber and marked with the trade name “AIRSTOP®.” It is
essential to use an “AIRSTOP®” tube with a MICHELIN® ‘X’® tire.
These tubes are made with an overlap splice which is stronger
than the butt splice used in many other tubes. The use of other
tubes, not designed for MICHELIN® ‘X’® radial tires, could result in
tube failure causing tire damage.

FLAPS: Always install a new MICHELIN® flap when you install
a new tire. After a limited time the flap will develop a set to match
the tire and wheel in which it is fitted; therefore, it will not exactly
match a new tire/wheel combination.
FOR ALL MICHELIN® TIRES
LUBRICANT: Always use a proper lubricant when mounting
tires. Use only an approved tire mounting lubricant. Never use
anti-freeze, silicones or petroleum-based lubricants. Do not allow
excess lubricant to run down and collect inside the tire.
SAFETY CAGE: Always use a safety cage or other OSHA
approved restraining devices when inflating a truck tire. Ensure
that the safety cage is large enough to accommodate wide base
tires when inflating MICHELIN® X One® tires. Never stand over
the tire or in front of the valve when inflating. Use an inline gauge
and stand to the side. Before final inflation, check the assembly
carefully for signs of weakness or irregularities.

VALVE CAPS: It is essential that all valves be fitted with
pressure-sealing metal valve caps, which are the PRIMARY seal of
the valve, to avoid leaks. After mounting, check the assemblies for
leaks. When wheel assemblies are mounted on a vehicle, be sure
that the valves do not touch the brake drums or any mechanical
part of the vehicle.
DUAL MOUNTING: Tires mounted in duals must be matched
so that the maximum difference between the diameters of the
tires does not exceed 1⁄4 inch. Failure to properly match dual
tires will result in the tire with the larger diameter carrying a
disproportionate share of the load which can cause sudden tire
destruction, property damage and personal injury.
Proper dual spacing must be provided to prevent the tires from
rubbing together and to allow for the flow of cooling air. Consult
the MICHELIN® Truck Tire Data Book or visit a MICHELIN®
Truck Tire Retailer for information on the minimum dual spacing
required for a particular tire/wheel fitment.
�PREPARATION OF WHEELS AND RIMS
Prior to fitment, wheel assemblies should be thoroughly
inspected for cracks, warpage, deformation of flanges, side rings,
lock rings, etc. The condition of the stud holes on wheels should
also be checked. If any of these conditions are discovered, the
wheel should be discarded. All burrs, welds, hammer dents, etc.,
that are present on the tire side of the rim must be made smooth
with a file and/or emery cloth. Remove rust with a wire brush
and apply a rust inhibiting paint. Make sure the tires are being
mounted on the correct wheel size and type. The wheels and rim
components should be in good condition and clean.
Failure To Observe Any Of The Recommended
Precautions Contained In This Owner’s Manual
Can Lead To Erratic Vehicle Behavior And/Or Tire
Damage Possibly Resulting In An Accident.
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Reglations,
9 C.F.R. § 395.75 (d), specify that “no bus shall
be operated with regrooved, recapped
or retreaded tires on the front wheels.”

X ONE® TIRE SPECIFIC INFORMATION
All drivers of vehicles equipped with MICHELIN X One® Tires
should be aware of the following :

Pressure Maintenance
Drivers have commented that an underinflated MICHELIN®
X One® tire is more likely to be detected with a simple visual
inspection than duals. However, pressure is difficult to gauge
visually even for the most experienced driver. Drivers should always
use a properly calibrated gauge when verifying the pressure of a
MICHELIN® X One® tire and should not rely on the aspect of the
tire. If the tire is 20% below the recommended pressure, it must
be considered flat, removed and inspected for punctures or other
damage. Failure to do so may cause tire failure.
Vehicle Handling
Drivers have commented that the wide, stable footprint of the
MICHELIN® X One® tire can provide the feel of a much more stable
truck compared to traditional dual tires. Most MICHELIN® X One®
fitments allow the track of the tractor and trailer to be widened.
However, drivers should not let the outstanding handling of the
MICHELIN® X One® tire give them a false sense of stability in curves.
Drivers should always respect all posted speed limits regardless of
tire fitment. Failure to do so may cause vehicle to tip.
Rapid Pressure Loss Techniques
Extensive testing has shown that rapid pressure loss on a
MICHELIN® X One® tire will not compromise the stability and
behavior of the vehicle. However, with one tire on each axle end,
the loss of pressure will allow the wheel and axle end to drop and
possibly contact the road surface. To avoid additional damage to the
tire, wheel and axle due to tire/wheel lock-up and brake drag, drivers
should be encouraged to decelerate gradually through down shifting,
use of trailer brake (when appropriate) or by pumping the brakes
during the initial phase of deceleration to allow some rotation of the
assembly. Failure to do so may cause irreparable damage to the tire,
wheel, axle components and vehicle.

of fuel savings and weight savings that we’ll guarantee your total satisfaction on the
two most important aspects of ownership:
Total Driver Satisfaction.
If your drivers are not totally satisfied with the traction and handling of the
MICHELIN® X One® tires after the first 60 days and before 150 days of usage, we will
issue a full refund (credit memo) for the original value of the tire and the wheel upon
their return + $30 per assembly to cover the dealer service work required.
Total Owner Satisfaction.
If you are not totally satisfied with the bottom line performance of the MICHELIN®
X One® tire in terms of mileage, retreadability, weight savings and/or fuel savings
after the original tread life of the tire, we will buy back the casing for $110 and the
wheel for 75% of its original value.
Program guidelines and exclusions:
•This program is effective beginning January 1, 2015 until December 31, 2015.
•Offer applies to tires purchased between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2015 and manufactured

RETREAD TECHNOLOGIES NATIONAL LIMITED WARRANTY
WHAT IS COVERED AND FOR HOW LONG
Every retread and/or repair produced by a Michelin Retread
Technologies, Inc. (MRTI) Franchisee (hereinafter referred to as
MRT Dealer), whether a customer’s casing or an MRT Dealer’s
casing, bearing the MRT Dealer’s valid DOT* plant code, is
warranted against defects in workmanship and materials for the life
of the usable tread. Thereafter, all warranties, express or implied,
expire. The usable tread is defined as the tread depth down to
4 ⁄ 32nds of an inch of tread remaining. Date of purchase is
documented by the retread or repair sales invoice. If no proof of
purchase is available, coverage will be based on the retread/repair
DOT date.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED
Road hazard injury (e.g., a cut, snag, bruise, impact damage,
or puncture, whether repairable or not);
Incorrect or improper mounting, tire/wheel imbalance, or
improper repair made by others;
Underinflation, overinflation, curbing, improper maintenance,
neglect or other abuse;
Mechanical irregularity in the vehicle such as vehicle damage
or wheel misalignment resulting in uneven or rapid wear;
Accident, fire, chemical corrosion, tire alteration or vandalism;
Casings classified and marked by the MRT Dealer as “NA”
(not adjustable) adjacent to the retread DOT code.
Any tire casing designed in such a manner as to render MRT
inspection techniques and/or equipment ineffective is not
covered by this warranty. All other workmanship and material
coverage remains in effect.

HOW REPLACEMENT CHARGES ARE CALCULATED

A retread and/or repair produced by an MRT Dealer retread
plant* that becomes unserviceable due to a condition covered by
this warranty will be credited at 100% of the actual invoice price**
for the retread/repair and the casing, when 10% or less of the
original tread is worn. The customer pays the charges for mounting
and balancing of the tire and any other service charges or applicable
taxes.
When between 10% worn and 4⁄ 32nds of an inch of tread still
remains, credit will be given on a pro rata basis for the retread and
the casing (no casing or repair credit is applicable after the first 25%
of tread is worn), based on the actual invoice price paid**. The MRT
Dealer will determine the charge by multiplying the percent-ofcredit from the following formula by the actual original invoice
price. The customer pays the cost of mounting, balancing and any
other service charges or applicable taxes.
If no measurable tread remains, credit will be given on a pro rata
basis of the actual purchase price** for the retread and casing, or for
the retread only, based on the number of weeks of usage according
to the following table. The customer pays the cost of mounting,
balancing and any other service charges or applicable taxes.

MRT Dealer to attempt to obtain the actual purchase pricing for
the retread and casing, and to inform the producing dealer of the
impending warranty claim.
WHAT THE CUSTOMER MUST DO
When making a claim under the terms of this warranty, the
customer must present the retreaded/repaired tire to a MICHELIN®
Truck Tire Retailer.
If the vehicle on which the tires are mounted is within 150 miles
of the producing dealer who manufactured the retread/repair or the
producing dealer’s commercial servicing location, the tire must be
presented to that dealer for warranty consideration.
If the purchase price cannot be obtained, the adjusting
MICHELIN® Truck Tire Retailer can calculate the Warranty Credit
Amount. The price for the tire in the current MICHELIN® Retread
Technologies Suggested Fleet Price List is multiplied by the
percentage adjustment to determine the credit for the retread, and
the current value of the casing is multiplied by the same percentage
to determine the credit for the casing (not applicable after the first
25% of tread is worn). Adding the 2 numbers together provides the
total credit to be issued.

CONDITIONS AND EXCLUSIONS
This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties, express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of merchantability and of
fitness for a particular purpose.
The customer is not a participant in any retread program with Michelin® Retread Technologies, Inc., Michelin® North America, Inc., or with
MRT Dealers, that includes warranty and adjustment provisions as an integral part of the program.
This warranty does not provide compensation for loss of time, loss of use of vehicle, inconvenience or consequential damage. Some states
do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
This warranty gives the customer specific legal rights, and you may have other rights that vary from state to state.
This warranty is for the exclusive benefit of the original customer and is not transferable.
This warranty applies only in the United States of America.

SAFETY
AND MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS
CHECK THE COLD INFLATION PRESSURES IN ALL
WARNING
YOUR TIRES, INCLUDING THE SPARE, AT LEAST
ONCE EACH WEEK
Disregarding any of the safety precautions and
instructions contained in this manual may result
in tire failure or explosion causing serious
personal injury or death.
Failure to maintain correct inflation pressure may result in
improper vehicle handling and may cause rapid and irregular tire
wear, sudden tire destruction, loss of vehicle control and serious
personal injury. Therefore, inflation pressures should be checked
at least once each week and always prior to long distance trips.
Pressures should be checked when tires are cold; in other
words, before they have been driven on. The ideal time to check
tire pressures is early morning. Driving, even for a short distance,
causes tires to heat up and pressure to increase.
Never bleed air from hot tires. Bleeding air from hot tires could
result in underinflation.
Use an accurate tire gauge to check pressures. Never allow
children to inflate or deflate tires.
If your pressure check indicates that one of your tires has lost

Any underinflated tire builds up excessive heat that may result
in sudden tire destruction. For replacement tires, the correct
inflation pressure will be provided by your MICHELIN® Truck Tire
Retailer. If not, refer to the vehicle placard.
The placard indicates the minimum inflation pressures which
must be maintained. However, do not exceed the maximum
inflation pressure for the tire or for the wheel on which it is
mounted.

pressure of four pounds or more, look for signs of penetration,
valve leakage or wheel damage that may account for the pressure
loss.
Any tire suspected of having been run flat or run at very low
pressure (less than 80% of normal operating pressure) should not
be re-inflated without careful inspection of the entire tire.
Visit a MICHELIN® Truck Tire Retailer.
Inspection
Always examine your tires for bulges, cracks, cuts, penetrations
and abnormal tire wear, particularly on the edges of the tire tread,
which may be caused by misalignment or underinflation.
If any such damage is found, the tire must be inspected by a
MICHELIN® Truck Tire Retailer at once. Use of a damaged tire
could result in rapid air loss and sudden tire destruction. Failure
to control a vehicle when one or more tires experience a sudden
air loss can lead to an accident.
All tires will wear out faster when subjected to high speeds as
well as hard cornering, rapid starts, sudden stops, frequent
driving on surfaces which are in poor condition, and off-road use.
Surfaces with holes and rocks or other objects can damage tires
and cause vehicle misalignment. When driving on such surfaces,
drive carefully and slowly, and before driving again at normal or
highway speeds, examine your tires for any damage, such as cuts,
bulges, penetrations, unusual wear patterns, etc.
INSPECT YOUR TIRES DAILY— IF YOU SEE ANY
DAMAGE TO YOUR TIRES OR WHEELS, VISIT A
MICHELIN® TRUCK TIRE RETAILER AT ONCE
Hazards
Driving over potholes, curb, glass, metal, rocks, wood debris
and the like, can damage a tire and should be safely avoided.
Unavoidable contact with such hazards should prompt a
thorough tire inspection.
If you see damage to your tires or wheels, replace with a spare
and immediately visit a MICHELIN® Truck Tire Retailer for advice.

WEAR BARS
MICHELIN® truck tires contain “Wear Bars” in the grooves
of the tire tread which show up when only 2⁄ 32nds of an inch
(1.6 mm) of tread is remaining. At this stage, tires must be
replaced. Tires worn beyond this stage are dangerous.
(Federal law requires the tires on front axles of a Bus, Truck
or Truck Tractor to have at least 4 ⁄ 32nds of an inch of tread
depth remaining.)
If you see any damage to a tire or wheel, replace it with the spare
at once and visit a MICHELIN® Truck Tire Retailer.
The maximum speed at which MICHELIN truck tires can be
operated is indicated in the MICHELIN® Truck Tire Data Book.
This speed varies for each type of tire and depends on the type of
application. Consult a MICHELIN® Truck Tire Retailer for
assistance in determining the maximum speed for your
application.
Exceeding this maximum speed will cause the tire to build up
excessive heat, which can cause tire damage that could result in
sudden pressure loss and rapid tire destruction. Failure to control
a vehicle when one or more tires experience sudden pressure loss
can lead to an accident, property damage, and personal injury.
In any case, you should not exceed reasonable speeds as
indicated by the legal limits and driving conditions.
HIGH SPEED DRIVING CAN BE DANGEROUS
Correct inflation pressure is especially important.
However, at high speeds, even with the correct inflation pressure,
a road hazard, for example, is more difficult to avoid, and if
contact is made, has a greater chance of causing tire damage
than at lower speeds. Moreover, driving at high speeds reduces
the reaction time available to avoid accidents and bring your
vehicle to a safe stop.

WHEEL ALIGNMENT, TRACKING, AND BALANCING ARE
It is recommended that you have your tires and wheels
dynamically balanced. Tires and wheels which are not balanced
may cause steering difficulties, a bumpy ride and irregular tire wear.
IMPORTANT FOR SAFETY AND MAXIMUM MILEAGE
FROM YOUR TIRES— CHECK HOW YOUR TIRES ARE
WEARING AT LEAST ONCE EACH MONTH
DO NOT OVERLOAD—DRIVING ON ANY OVERLOADED
If your tires are wearing unevenly, such as the inside shoulder of
the tire wearing faster than the rest of the tread, your vehicle may
be out of alignment. This condition not only shortens the life of
your tires but also adversely affects the handling characteristics of
your vehicle, which could be dangerous. If you detect irregular
wear, have the alignment of the wheels and the parallelism of the
axles checked immediately. Also check to see that your tires are
properly inflated. Tires which have been run underinflated will
show more wear on the shoulders than in the center of the tread.
Tires which have been run overinflated will show more wear in the
center of the tread than on the shoulders.
For optimum tire life and performance, the front end alignment
on trucks equipped with MICHELIN® truck tires should be in
accordance with the recommendations of the vehicle manufacturer.
TIRE IS DANGEROUS
The maximum load rating marked on the tire sidewall of any
truck tire is based on a specific maximum speed of operation.
Consult a MICHELIN® Truck Tire Data Book for complete
information on allowable loads for the tires in your application.
Tires which are loaded beyond their maximum allowable loads
for the particular application will build up excessive heat that
may cause sudden tire destruction, property damage and personal
injury.
In the case of dual mounted tires, if one of the tires is run
underinflated or flat then the other tire will become severely
overloaded which could lead to tire failure. “Limping in”
is illegal and should never be attempted.

TIRE MIXING
FOUR WHEEL TRUCKS
For best performance it is recommended that the same size
and type of tire be used on all four wheel positions. If only two
MICHELIN® radial truck tires are mounted with two non-radial
tires, the radial tires should be mounted on the rear axle.
Before mixing different types of tires in any configuration on
any vehicle, be sure to check the vehicle manufacturer's owner’s
manual for its recommendations.
It is especially important to check the vehicle manufacturer’s
owner’s manual when mixing, matching or replacing tires on
4-wheel drive vehicles, as this may require special precautions.
TIRE ALTERATIONS
Do not make or allow to be made any alteration to your tires.
Alterations may prevent proper performance, leading to tire
damage which can result in an accident. Tires which become
unserviceable due to alterations such as, but not limited to, truing,
addition of balancing or sealant liquids, or the use of tire dressings
containing petroleum distillates, are excluded from warranty
coverage.
IMPROPERLY RETREADED AND/OR REPAIRED TIRES ARE
DANGEROUS AND CAN CAUSE TIRE DESTRUCTION,
PROPERTY DAMAGE AND PERSONAL INJURY
Retreading and repairing of MICHELIN® truck tires should be
performed only by qualified personnel with proper equipment
using the procedures contained in MICHELIN® Retread and
Repair manuals.
If any MICHELIN® tire sustains a puncture, have the tire
demounted and thoroughly inspected by a MICHELIN® Truck Tire
Retailer for possible damage that may have occurred.
TRUCKS WITH MORE THAN FOUR WHEEL POSITIONS
For best performance, it is strongly recommended that radial
and non-radial tires not be mixed in a dual fitment.

through the inner liner and into the casing plies. For these
reasons, tires should always be stored in a cool, dry, clean indoor
environment. Failure to store tires in accordance with these
instructions could result in premature aging of the tires and
sudden tire failure.
When tires are stored, be sure they are placed away from
sources of heat and ozone, such as hot pipes and electric
generators. Be sure the surfaces on which tires are stored are
clean and free from grease, petroleum products or other
substances which could deteriorate the rubber. (Tires exposed
to these materials during storage or driving could be subject to
sudden failure.)
Plug-only repairs done on-the-wheel are considered improper
and are therefore not recommended. Such repairs are not
reliable and may cause further damage to the tire and may result
in tire failure.
STORAGE
Tires contain waxes and emollients to protect their outer
surfaces from ozone and weather checking. As the tire rolls and
flexes, the waxes and emollients continually migrate to the
surface, replenishing this protection throughout the normal use of
the tire. Consequently, when tires sit outdoors, unused for long
periods of time (a month or more), their surfaces become dry and
more susceptible to ozone and weather checking, and the casing
becomes susceptible to flat spotting. Also serious problems occur
with tube-type tires when mounted with water trapped between
the tire and the tube. Due to pressurization, the liquid can pass

When changing any tire, always deflate the tire before loosening
any wheel or rim lugs. Always install new valve cores with new
mountings.
PREVENT TIRE DESTRUCTION, PROPERTY DAMAGE
AND PERSONAL INJURY
Regulations and recommendations published by the
Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the U.S.
Department of Labor (OSHA) deal in detail with mounting and
demounting of tires for trucks. You should ensure that you are
always in compliance with these regulations and
recommendations. In addition, Michelin urges you to bear in
mind the following considerations:
Tire changing can be dangerous and must be done by
professionally trained persons using proper tools and procedures
as specified by the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA).
Tires should be mounted on wheels of the correct size and type
which are in good, clean condition. Bent, chipped, or rusted
wheels or rim components may cause tire damage and can also
malfunction causing an accident.
All wheel components (i.e. flanges, lock rings, rim base, etc.)
FOR ALL MICHELIN® TUBE-TYPE TIRES
TUBES: Always fit a new MICHELIN® tube of the proper size
in a new mounting. A tube through normal use will experience
growth; therefore, if an old tube is re-used, there is a probability
of creasing it with subsequent chafing and eventual failure of the
tube causing tire damage. MICHELIN® tubes are made of butyl
rubber and marked with the trade name “AIRSTOP®.” It is
essential to use an “AIRSTOP®” tube with a MICHELIN® ‘X’® tire.
These tubes are made with an overlap splice which is stronger
than the butt splice used in many other tubes. The use of other
tubes, not designed for MICHELIN® ‘X’® radial tires, could result in
tube failure causing tire damage.

VALVE CAPS: It is essential that all valves be fitted with
pressure-sealing metal valve caps, which are the PRIMARY seal of
the valve, to avoid leaks. After mounting, check the assemblies for
leaks. When wheel assemblies are mounted on a vehicle, be sure
that the valves do not touch the brake drums or any mechanical
part of the vehicle.
DUAL MOUNTING: Tires mounted in duals must be matched
so that the maximum difference between the diameters of the
tires does not exceed 1⁄4 inch. Failure to properly match dual
tires will result in the tire with the larger diameter carrying a
disproportionate share of the load which can cause sudden tire
destruction, property damage and personal injury.
Proper dual spacing must be provided to prevent the tires from
rubbing together and to allow for the flow of cooling air. Consult
the MICHELIN® Truck Tire Data Book or visit a MICHELIN® Truck
Tire Retailer for information on the minimum dual spacing
required for a particular tire/wheel fitment.
FLAPS: Always install a new MICHELIN® flap when you install
a new tire. After a limited time the flap will develop a set to match
the tire and wheel in which it is fitted; therefore, it will not exactly
match a new tire/wheel combination.
FOR ALL MICHELIN® TIRES
LUBRICANT: Always use a proper lubricant when mounting
tires. Use only an approved tire mounting lubricant. Never use
anti-freeze, silicones or petroleum-based lubricants. Do not allow
excess lubricant to run down and collect inside the tire.
SAFETY CAGE: Always use a safety cage or other OSHA
approved restraining devices when inflating a truck tire. Ensure
that the safety cage is large enough to accommodate wide base
tires when inflating MICHELIN® X One® tires. Never stand over
the tire or in front of the valve when inflating. Use an inline gauge
and stand to the side. Before final inflation, check the assembly
carefully for signs of weakness or irregularities.

PREPARATION OF WHEELS AND RIMS
Prior to fitment, wheel assemblies should be thoroughly
inspected for cracks, warpage, deformation of flanges, side rings,
lock rings, etc. The condition of the stud holes on wheels should
also be checked. If any of these conditions are discovered, the
wheel should be discarded. All burrs, welds, hammer dents, etc.,
that are present on the tire side of the wheel must be made smooth
with a file and/or emery cloth. Remove rust with a wire brush and
apply a rust inhibiting paint. Make sure the tires are being
mounted on the correct wheel size and type. The wheels and rim
components should be in good condition and clean.
Failure To Observe Any Of The Recommended
Precautions Contained In This Owner’s Manual
Can Lead To Erratic Vehicle Behavior And/Or Tire
Damage Possibly Resulting In An Accident.

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Reglations,
9 C.F.R. § 395.75 (d), specify that “no bus shall be
operated with regrooved, recapped or retreaded
tires on the front wheels.”
Retread tread selection should always consider
the casing's original service application design and
speed rating as published in that tire manufacturer's
data book. Applying treads intended for a more
severe service or speed application than the
original casing design or that would imply a higher
speed service than the casing's original speed
rating is generally not recommended.

(MRT) is pleased to offer extended warranty coverage pertaining to
MICHELIN® X One® tire casings retreaded via the MRT franchise
network.

In assessing warranty credits payable for a MICHELIN® X One® tire

continue to apply. The casing will be warranted at 100% for the full

MICHELIN®
X ONE® TIRE SPECIFIC INFORMATION
All drivers of vehicles equipped with MICHELIN X One® Tires
should be aware of the following :

Pressure Maintenance
Drivers have commented that an underinflated MICHELIN®
X One® tire is more likely to be detected with a simple visual
inspection than duals. However, pressure is difficult to gauge visually
even for the most experienced driver. Drivers should always use a
properly calibrated gauge when verifying the pressure of a
MICHELIN® X One® tire and should not rely on the aspect of the tire.
If the tire is 20% below the recommended pressure, it must be
considered flat, removed and inspected for punctures or other
damage. Failure to do so may cause tire failure.
Vehicle Handling
Drivers have commented that the wide, stable footprint of the
MICHELIN® X One® tire can provide the feel of a much more stable
truck compared to traditional dual tires. Most MICHELIN® X One®
fitments allow the track of the tractor and trailer to be widened.
However, drivers should not let the outstanding handling of the
MICHELIN® X One® tire give them a false sense of stability in curves.
Drivers should always respect all posted speed limits regardless of tire
fitment. Failure to do so may cause vehicle to tip.
Rapid Pressure Loss Techniques
Extensive testing has shown that rapid pressure loss on a
MICHELIN® X One® tire will not compromise the stability and
behavior of the vehicle. However, with one tire on each axle end, the
loss of pressure will allow the wheel and axle end to drop and possibly
contact the road surface. To avoid additional damage to the tire,
wheel and axle due to tire/wheel lock-up and brake drag, drivers
should be encouraged to decelerate gradually through down shifting,
use of trailer brake (when appropriate) or by pumping the brakes
during the initial phase of deceleration to allow some rotation of the
assembly. Failure to do so may cause irreparable damage to the tire,
wheel, axle components and vehicle.

ABOUT THIS WARRANTY
and materials for the life of the original tread or 48 months from the
date of manufacture, which is based on the original Uniroyal® DOT*
number molded on the tire sidewall (whichever occurs first). At that
time, all warranties, express or implied, expire.
The information contained in this manual is provided to enable
you to operate your tires safely. It is therefore important that this
information is made readily available to all personnel involved
in the operation of the tires. In addition, the danger of neglecting
the advice contained in this manual should be explained to all
managers, drivers, mechanics and other personnel involved with the
maintenance and use of the tires.
Certain Uniroyal® commercial truck tires used only in long-haul
and regional service according to the instructions contained in this
Operator’s Manual, are covered by this limited warranty against
defects in workmanship and materials for up to 1 retread for 48
months from the date of manufacture, as defined above, when
retreaded by an authorized Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT)
dealer or an Oliver Retread dealer (Extended Warranty). At that time,
all warranties, express or implied, expire.

are available from Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealers or online at
www.uniroyaltrucktires.com.
WHAT IS COVERED AND FOR HOW LONG –
COMMERCIAL USE
Tires covered by this Extended Warranty must have been inspected
by an authorized Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealer and
retreaded by an authorized Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT)
dealer or an authorized Oliver Retread dealer, in accordance
with the repair and retreading standards set by the Tire Industry
Association and/or Michelin Retread Technologies, Inc., (MRTI)
and/or Oliver Retread dealer.
Workmanship and Materials
Except as limited below, every Uniroyal® commercial truck tire
bearing the Uniroyal® brand and complete serial and identification
numbers, used in commercial service, according to the instructions
contained in this Limited Warranty and Operator’s Manual, are
covered by this limited warranty against defects in workmanship

Definitions
WHAT IS NOT COVERED
The life of the original usable tread is the original tread down to the
level of the treadwear indicators – 2/32nds of an inch (1.6 mm) of
tread remaining.* Date of purchase is documented by new vehicle
registration or tire sales invoice. If no proof of purchase is available,
coverage will be based on the date of manufacture, as molded on
the sidewall. The date of manufacture is based on the original
Uniroyal DOT** number molded on the tire sidewall. Replacement
will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions described
under “HOW REPLACEMENT CHARGES ARE CALCULATED” on Page 4.
Tires/casings which become unserviceable due to:
– Road hazard injury (e.g., a cut, snag, bruise, impact damage or
puncture);
– Incorrect mounting of the tire, tire/wheel imbalance, improper
retread or improper repair;
– Misapplication, improper maintenance, racing, under inflation,
over inflation or other abuse resulting in casing damage or
fatigue;
– Accident, fire, chemical corrosion, contamination, tire alteration
or vandalism;
– Flat spotting caused by improper storage;
– The addition of liquid, solid or gaseous materials other than air,
nitrogen or carbon dioxide;
– Uses other than long haul service or regional service for any
extended warranty casing claims;
– Uneven or rapid wear caused by mechanical irregularity in the
vehicle, such as wheel misalignment, resulting in damage to the
under-tread, carcass or steel belts;
– Ozone or weather checking.
* Federal law requires that truck tires on front axles have at least
4/32nds tread depth

HOW REPLACEMENT CHARGES ARE CALCULATED
Long Haul and Regional Tires with Extended Warranty
Workmanship and Materials
If your Long Haul or Regional tire covered by the “48 months/
1-Retread Manufacturer’s Limited Casing Warranty (Extended
Warranty)” becomes unserviceable due to a condition covered by
this warranty before providing 48 months and 1 retread of service,
Uniroyal® commercial truck tires will provide casing credit based on
the following schedule:
Warranty claims can only be processed through an authorized
Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealer. A tire which becomes
unserviceable due to a condition covered by this workmanship and
materials limited warranty will be replaced with a comparable new
Uniroyal® commercial truck tire, for a pro rata charge.
The Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealer will determine the charge
by multiplying the percentage of the original usable tread worn by
the current dealer selling price at the adjustment location or the
price on the current Uniroyal® commercial truck tires Base Price List,
whichever is lower.

WHAT YOU MUST DO WHEN MAKING A CLAIM
You pay the cost of mounting, balancing, and any other
service charges and applicable taxes.
When making a claim under the terms of this limited warranty, you
must present your tire/casing to an authorized Uniroyal commercial
truck tire dealer. You pay any service charges for normal vehicle and
tire maintenance.

CONDITIONS AND EXCLUSIONS
SAFETY MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
Unless this limitation is prohibited by state law, this warranty does
not provide compensation for loss of time, loss of use of vehicle,
inconvenience, or incidental or consequential damages. Tires/
casings presented for claim remain the property of the owner, and
Uniroyal® commercial truck tires accept no responsibility for loss of,
or damage to, tires/casings, which are in the custody or control of
an authorized Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealer for the purpose
of inspection for warranty adjustment.
Read the Uniroyal® commercial truck tire Data Book, the Uniroyal®
commercial truck tire Limited Warranty and Operator’s Manual,
the information on the sidewall of your tires, your vehicle owner’s
manual and vehicle tire information placard for essential safety and
maintenance information.
When Service Is Required:
1. Contact an authorized Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealer listed
in the dealer locator on www.uniroyaltrucktires.com.
Tires accepted for claim become the property of Michelin North
America, Inc., (MNA). In the event of a disputed claim, the owner
must make the tire available for further inspection. No Uniroyal
commercial truck tire representative, employee or dealer has
the authority to make or imply any representation, promise or
agreement, which in any way varies the terms of this limited
warranty.

Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealer, please call or write to
Uniroyal® commercial truck tire consumer care listed on Page 13.
This limited warranty applies only in the United States.

SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS
CHECK THE COLD INFLATION PRESSURE IN ALL YOUR TIRES,
INCLUDING THE SPARES, AT LEAST ONCE EACH WEEK.
WARNING
Disregarding any of the safety precautions and instructions
contained in this manual may result in tire failure or
explosion causing serious personal injury or death.
Failure to maintain correct inflation pressure may result in sudden
tire destruction, improper vehicle handling, and may cause rapid
and irregular wear. Therefore, inflation pressures should be checked
weekly and always before long distance trips.
DRIVING ON ANY TIRE THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE CORRECT
INFLATION PRESSURE IS DANGEROUS AND MAY CAUSE
IRREPARABLE TIRE DAMAGE.
Pressures should be checked when tires are cold, that is, before
they have been driven on. The ideal time to check tire pressures
is early morning. Driving, even for a short distance, causes tires to
heat up and air pressures to increase.
Any underinflated tire builds up excessive heat that may result in
tire destruction.
Never bleed air from hot tires. “Bleeding” air from a hot tire could
result in underinflation.
The correct inflation pressure for your tires is a function of many
factors including: load, speed, road surface, and handling.
Use an accurate tire gauge to check pressures. If your pressure
check indicates that one of your tires has lost pressure of four
pounds or more, look for signs of penetration, valve leakage, or
wheel damage that may account for the air loss.
Consult your Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealer for the proper
inflation pressures for your application.
Any tire suspected of having been run flat or run at very low air

Inspection
pressure (less than 80% of normal operating pressure) should never
be re-inflated without careful inspection of the entire tire.
Always examine your tires for bulges, cracks, cuts, penetrations and
abnormal tire wear, particularly on the edges of the tire tread, which
may be caused by misalignment or underinflation.
Consult your Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealer for proper
maintenance recommendations.
If any such damage is found, the tire must be inspected by your
Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealer at once. Use of a damaged tire
could result in rapid pressure loss and sudden tire destruction.
INSPECT YOUR TIRES DAILY, IF YOU SEE ANY DAMAGE TO
YOUR TIRES OR WHEELS, SEE YOUR UNIROYAL COMMERCIAL
TRUCK TIRE DEALER AT ONCE.
Failure to control a vehicle when one or more tires experience a
sudden pressure loss can lead to an accident.
Hazards
All tires will wear out faster when subjected to high speeds as well
as hard cornering, rapid starts, sudden stops, frequent driving on
surfaces which are in poor condition, and off-road use.
Driving over potholes, curbs, glass, metal, rocks, wood debris and
the like, can damage a tire and should be safely avoided.
Unavoidable contact with such hazards should prompt a thorough
tire inspection.
Surfaces with holes and rocks or other objects can damage tires and
cause vehicle misalignment. When driving on such surfaces, drive
carefully and slowly, and before driving again at normal or highway
speeds, examine your tires for any damage, such as cuts, bulges,
penetrations, unusual wear patterns, etc.
If you see damage to your tires or wheels, replace with a spare and
immediately visit a Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealer for advice.

result in sudden tire destruction, property damage, and personal
injury.

Uniroyal commercial truck tires contain “wear bars” in the grooves
of the tire tread which show up when only 2/32nds of an inch
or less of the tread is remaining. At this stage your tires must be
removed.
When driving at highway speeds*, correct inflation pressure is
especially important. However, at these speeds, even with the
correct inflation pressures, a road hazard, for example, is more
difficult to avoid and if contact is made, has a greater chance of
causing tire damage than at a lower speed. Moreover, driving at
high speeds reduces the reaction time required to avoid accidents
and bring your vehicle to a safe stop.
Tires worn beyond this stage are dangerous. (Federal law requires
that truck tires on front axles have at least 4/32nds tread depth.)
HIGH SPEED* DRIVING CAN BE DANGEROUS AND MAY
DAMAGE YOUR TIRES
If you see any damage to a tire or wheel, replace the tire with a
spare at once and visit your Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealer for
a complete inspection.
The maximum speed at which Uniroyal commercial truck tires can
be operated is indicated in the Uniroyal Commercial Truck Tire Data
Book. This speed varies for each type of tire. It depends on the type
of application and may be less than the posted legal limit.
*Exceeding the legal speed limit is neither recommended nor endorsed.
Consult a Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealer for assistance in
determining the maximum speed for your application including the
proper load inflation recommendations. Exceeding this maximum

is recommended that you have your tires and wheels dynamically
balanced.
DO NOT OVERLOAD. DRIVING ON ANY OVERLOADED TIRE IS
DANGEROUS.
CHECK HOW YOUR TIRES ARE WEARING AT LEAST ONCE EACH
MONTH.
The maximum load that can be put on a truck tire is dependent
upon the speed at which the tire will be used. Consult your Uniroyal
commercial truck tire dealer and a Uniroyal® commercial truck tire
Data Book for complete information on the allowable loads for
the tires in your application. Tires which are loaded beyond their
maximum allowable load for the particular application will build up
excessive heat that may result in sudden tire destruction, property
damage, and personal injury.
If your tires show signs of irregular wear, your vehicle may be out of
alignment. This condition not only shortens the life of your tires but
also adversely affects the handling characteristics of your vehicle,
which could be dangerous. If irregular wear is indicated, check
the alignment of your vehicle’s wheels and the parallelism of your
vehicle’s axles. Tires which have been run underinflated will show
more wear on the shoulders than in the crown of the tread.
In the case of dual mounted tires, if one of the tires is run
underinflated or flat then the other tire will become severely
overloaded which could lead to tire failure. “Limping in” is illegal
and should never be attempted.
For optimum tire life and performance, the front end alignment
on trucks equipped with Uniroyal® commercial truck tires should
be in accordance with the recommendations of the vehicle
manufacturer. Tires and wheels which are not balanced may cause
steering difficulties, a bumpy ride, and worn spots on the tires. It

TIRE MIXING
IMPROPERLY RETREADED AND/OR REPAIRED TIRES ARE
DANGEROUS AND CAN CAUSE TIRE DESTRUCTION, PROPERTY
DAMAGE AND PERSONAL INJURY.
Only tires of identical size and construction should be mounted on
the same axle.
Retreading and repairing of Uniroyal® commercial truck tires should
be carried out only by qualified personnel with proper equipment.
For further information, consult your Uniroyal commercial truck tire
dealer.
TIRE ALTERATIONS
Do not make or allow any alterations to be made to your tires.
Alterations may prevent proper performance, leading to tire damage
which can result in an accident. Tires which become unserviceable
due to alterations such as, but not limited to, truing, addition of
balancing or sealant liquids, or the use of tire dressings containing
petroleum distillates, are excluded from warranty coverage.
Plug-only repairs done on-the-wheel are considered improper and
are, therefore, not recommended. Such repairs are not reliable and
may cause further damage to the tire.
If a tire sustains a puncture, have the tire demounted and
thoroughly inspected by any Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealer
for possible damage that may have occurred.

STORAGE
FOLLOW THESE MOUNTING RECOMMENDATIONS TO
PREVENT TIRE DESTRUCTION, PROPERTY DAMAGE, AND
PERSONAL INJURY.
All tires should be stored in a cool, dry, clean indoor environment so
that there is no danger of water collecting inside them.
Regulations and recommendations published by the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration of the U.S. Department of
Labor (OSHA) explain in detail the proper manner to mount and
demount tires for trucks. You should ensure that you are always
in compliance with these regulations and recommendations. In
addition, always bear in mind the following considerations:
Tires contain waxes and emollients to protect their outer surfaces
from ozone and weather checking. As the tire rolls and flexes,
the waxes and emollients continually migrate to the surface,
replenishing this protection throughout the normal use of the tire.
Consequently, when tires sit outdoors, unused for long periods
of time (a month or more) their surfaces become dry and more
susceptible to ozone and weather checking. For this reason, tires
should always be stored in a cool, dry, clean indoor environment,
away from sources of heat and ozone, such as hot pipes or electric
generators. Be sure that surfaces on which tires are stored are
free from grease, gasoline, or other such substances which could
deteriorate the rubber. TIRES EXPOSED TO OR DRIVEN ON THESE
SUBSTANCES COULD BE SUBJECT TO SUDDEN FAILURE.
Be sure that all rim components (i.e. flanges, lock, rim base, etc.)
match. Be sure to check rim/wheel manufacturer’s specifications.
Tires should be mounted on rims and wheels which are in good,
clean condition. Bent, chipped or rusted wheels, rims, or rim
components can cause tire damage and can also malfunction
causing an accident.
When changing any tire, deflate the tire before loosening any wheel
or rim lugs. Always install new valve cores with new mountings.
Failure to store tires in accordance with these instructions could
result in premature aging of the tires and sudden tire failure.

PREPARATION OF WHEELS AND RIMS
LUBRICANT: Always use a proper lubricant when mounting tires. Use
only a thin vegetable oil, soap solution or other approved rubber
lubricant. Never use anti-freeze, silicones, or petroleum based
lubricants. Do not let excessive lubricant run down and collect
inside the tire.
Prior to fitment, wheel assemblies should be thoroughly inspected
for any damage such as cracks, warpage, deformation of flanges or
stud hole damage. If any one of these conditions is discovered, the
rim/wheel should be discarded. All burrs, welds, hammer dents,
etc, that are present on the tire side of the rim must be smoothed
with a file and/or emery cloth. Remove all rust with a wire brush and
apply a rust inhibiting paint.
SAFETY CAGE: Always use a safety cage or other OSHA approved
restraining devices when inflating a truck tire. Never stand over a
tire or in front of a valve when inflating. Before final inflation, check
the assembly carefully for signs of weakness or irregularities. When
wheel assemblies are mounted on a vehicle, be sure that the valves
do not touch the brake drums or any mechanical part of the vehicle.
VALVE CAPS: It is essential that suitable valve caps be fitted to
avoid leaking. The valve cap is the primary seal. After mounting,
check the assembly for leaks.

DUAL MOUNTING: Tires mounted in duals must be matched so that
the maximum difference between the diameters of the tires does
not exceed ¼ inch. Failure to properly match dual tires will result in
the tire with the larger diameter carrying a disproportionate share of
the load which can cause sudden tire destruction, property damage,
and personal injury.

It is also important that sufficient dual spacing be provided to allow
air to flow and cool the tires and to prevent them from rubbing
against one another. See your Uniroyal commercial truck tire dealer
for information on the minimum dual spacing required and for
complete mounting instructions.

• MAINTAIN THE PROPER PRESSURE IN THE TIRES FOR THE LOAD BEING CARRIED
• CHECK THE COLD TIRE INFLATION PRESSURE AT LEAST ONCE EACH WEEK
• DO NOT UNDERINFLATE OR OVERLOAD YOUR TIRES
• NEVER EXCEED THE MAXIMUM SPEED SPECIFIED FOR YOUR TIRES WHICH COULD BE LOWER THAN THE POSTED LEGAL
LIMIT
• AVOID DRIVING OVER POTHOLES, OBSTACLES, CURBS AND EDGES OF PAVEMENT
• MAKE SURE ALL RETREADS AND REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED BY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL WITH PROPER EQUIPMENT
