A Message from The Chairman
This, is only the second of our
What’s On Brochures and in
producing this publication we
hope to get it to those who
would not normally visit a
Spiritualist Church. So I want
to take this opportunity to
explain to our new readers a
little of what we do here.
Ann Treherne
Chairman of The Palmerston Trust
“We aim to
provide facilities
for the physical,
mental, emotional
and spiritual wellbeing of Society”
We are a Spiritual Centre, and
as well as providing a beautiful
Sanctuary for our Spiritualist
Church, we aim to provide
facilities for the physical,
mental, emotional and
spiritual well-being of Society,
as a whole.
We want to be a resource for
the whole community—and we
welcome people of all
religions, and none, to come
and enjoy our magnificent
building, and perhaps partake
of some of the activities we
have on offer. As such, we
have activities in the building
that are conducive to our aims
of looking after the mind, body
and spirit— this brochure
brings you information on just
some of them.
New for this Quarter, we have
Creative Writing; Art Classes;
an exciting new concert by the
popular musician Alastair
Savage from the BBC
Symphony Orchestra; and we
have just been accepted as a
Venue for the Festival Fringe!

Paul Jacobs was tutored by Gordon Higginson who was not just President of his local church but also
President of the Spiritualists' National Union, Principle of the Arthur Findlay College and one of the finest

Paul has an enviable reputation as an international teaching medium. His work has taken him to Finland,
Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Holland, Germany and the USA. Paul's main interest today is the training of
tomorrows mediums. To this end he has set up his own school for mediums, this is based in Amsterdam,

Music
As a Spiritual Centre, we aim to provide facilities for the physical, mental,
emotional and spiritual well-being of Society. We want to be a resource for the
whole community—and as such, we have activities in the building that are
conducive to our aims - hence our provision of Art, Creative Writing and also
Music. The building was previously the music school for St Mary’s Cathedral
and we were keen to re-introduce music into the building.
As announced in last Quarters What’s On, The Centre has appointed Terry
Johns, the accomplished musician and composer, as its Artistic Adviser and
more recently we enjoyed another concert by Scottish Fiddler, Alastair Savage
and Euan Drysdale (below).
And now, we can announce that The Centre
has been registered as a venue for
The Edinburgh International Festival Fringe!
Alastair Savage will be conducting his ‘Scots Fiddle
Melody and History Concert’ in The Fringe but,
before that, he’ll be putting on a special concert on
Friday, 10th May, called, ‘Scotland meets China’!
