Miss Port Sanilac Cruise
Cruise into history aboard a Coast Guard inspected
and certified, 45 foot converted 1950’s commercial
fishing trawler: The Miss Port Sanilac.
This 34 passenger open deck tour boat is small
enough to have a direct dialogue with the Museum
narrator. The one hour tour will give you a sense of
how the Thumb of Michigan was settled from the
shoreline inward. The lakes and rivers were the
primary access to Michigan in the 1800’s. Experience
Lake Huron from the perspective our ancestors had
when they were migrating from urban areas of Detroit,
Toledo and Cleveland to the wilderness of undeveloped
Sanilac County.
With numerous shipwrecks in the area, many from
the Great Storm of 1913, the waters off Sanilac County
were declared an underwater preserve. Various ship
wrecks, their cause and location will be discussed
and how they affected the settlements along the
shore. You will complete your tour on the Miss Port
Sanilac knowing why Port Sanilac was once called
Bark Shanty, how prohibition played a roll in the Port
Sanilac Lighthouse and how your gasoline tax made
your trip safe.

Uri’s Landing
Nestled atop of the marina in Port Sanilac is the only
restaurant in the area that over looks beautiful Lake
Huron. A new and wonderful dining experience in a
beautiful waterfront setting.
Easily accessible by land and water, Uri’s Landing is
sure to be a great culinary stop for hungry boaters
and land lovers alike. With our large windows in our
newly remolded dining room you will not miss a thing
on the lake.
American Fusion Cuisine
The eclectic menu at Uri’s Landing is what Chef Clint
calls American Fusion Cuisine. Dishes from around
the world...with a home town twist.
We take pride in what we create on the plate for your
palette. Everything here is fresh and from scratch. We
utilize the local farmers markets every weekend and
source our meats and seafood locally when possible.
The Sanilac County Historic Village and Museum is
located in Port Sanilac, Michigan on the site of the
Loop-Harrison centennial farm. The focal point of the
campus is the Loop-Harrison Mansion, a stunning two
and one half yellow brick Victorian mansion completed
in 1872. The home exhibits not only artifacts from the
medical practice of Dr. Joseph Loop and items owned
by his family, but also items rescued from shipwrecks
and a military collection telling the story of Sanilac
County’s Veterans stretching back to the Civil War.
On the ten acres that surround the Mansion, thirteen
other living historical sites tell the rich history of Sanilac
County. Many of these buildings, which were moved
from throughout the county and brought to the
museum grounds, capture the rich heritage found in
Michigan’s Thumb. Some of these buildings, like the
Banner Log Cabin and the Deckerville Barn, capture
the past from which the “average family” overcame
fire and hardship to prosper and flourish in Michigan’s
sometimes harsh environment. The Carriage Barn
and Dairy Museum proudly display the tools of the
hard-working heritage of the area’s farmers and
fishermen, while the Museum Church, Huckin’s School
and Deckerville depot offer a window into yesteryear.
These and much more await visitors to the Sanilac
County Historic Village and Museum!
