GOSPEL: John 18:33b-37

What kind of king is Jesus? In this reading from the passion story
in John's Gospel, Jesus provides us with his own answer. Pontius Pilate
was the Roman official who held power in Palestine. He asks Jesus if he
is the king of the Jews. Pilate really wants to know whether Jesus might
be part of a Jewish revolt against Roman rule. Jesus assures Pilate that
his kingdom is not of this world. He is not one who rules by force. However he is a king who came into the world to "testify to the truth." All who
recognize him as "the way and the truth and the life" will hear his voice
(John 14:6).
As the Church year comes to a close, we are grateful for the
ways in which we have heard our King's voice in the liturgy this year.
We consider how to live the words of Jesus more faithfully as the circle
of the new liturgical year begins.
¿Qué tipo de rey es Jesús? En esta lectura de la historia de la
pasión de Jesús en el Evangelio de Juan, Jesús nos ofrece su respuesta. Poncio Pilato era un oficial romano, gobernador de Palestina.
El le pregunta a Jesús si él es el rey de los judíos. Pilato realmente

7:30pm featuring the Jubilee Choir of
Epiphany, Epiphany Youth Choir; and
guest, St. Thomas More’s 8pm Choir.

The Grupo Hispano wishes to thank everyone who helped make tamales on November 13th & 14th. They were able to make
over 1,000 tamales, which they will sell
after the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Saturday, December 12th.

Immaculate Conception:
Tuesday, December 8th is the Solemnity
of the Immaculate Conception of the
Blessed Virgin Mary. This is a Holy Day
of Obligation. Masses will be at 6:30am,
8:00am, 11:00am (School Mass), 5:30pm
and 7:30pm (Spanish). The Grupo Hispano will also celebrate this day on Sunday, Dec. 6th at the 11:30am Mass. Fellowship will follow in the cafeteria.

Liturgical Adaptations
Adaptations::
After seeking the counsel of the departments of public health of San Francisco,
Marin and San Mateo Counties, and after
consulting with the Council of Priests and
with the Archdiocese’s Pandemic Flu
Committee for the 2009-2010 Influenza
Season, Archbishop George Niederauer
has instructed that we implement the following liturgical modifications immediately:
We are asked to stop the distribution of
Holy Communion in the cup.
For better hygiene and out of consideration for fellow communicants, all are
encouraged to receive Holy Communion
in the hand rather than on the
tongue. Persons who still wish to receive on the tongue will not be denied
Holy Communion. (Eucharistic Ministers should exercise additional care to
avoid physical contact when placing the
Host on the tongue).
The Sign of Peace should be offered
without shaking hands (for example: a
smile or a nod of the head while saying
“Peace be with you.”).
We are asked not to hold hands during
the “Our Father.”
Those who distribute Holy Communion
should cleanse their hands with antiseptic solution containing alcohol before
and after administering the Sacrament.
Ministers of the Eucharist who visit the
sick and the homebound should observe
these same precautions.
Please remember that the obligation to
attend Sunday Mass does not apply to
those who are ill. It is a sign of consideration for others that those with flu-like
symptoms remain at home.
These are temporary changes, which are
necessary to follow until the danger of flu
season is past.

The Grupo Hispano Americano
invites everyone to the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Adaptaciones en la Liturgia :
Después de consultar con el Departamento
de Salud Pública de San Francisco y San
Mateo; así como con el Comité de la Fiebre Porcina para la temporada de Influenza 2009-2010 del Consejo de Sacerdotes
de la Arquidiócesis, el Arzobispo George
Niederauer ha ordenado la implementación
inmediata de las siguientes modificaciones
en la liturgia:
Se pide que se suspenda la comunión
con el cáliz.
Por motivos de higiene y por consideración de las otras personas que están comulgando se pide que todos reciban la
comunión en sus manos en lugar de recibirla en la boca. A pesar de ello, no se le
negará la sagrada comunión si aun quiere recibirla en la boca (Los ministros
extraordinarios deberán tener cuidado en
no tener ningún contacto físico al administrar la comunión en la boca).
Se pide que por favor no se den las manos al recitar el “Padre Nuestro”.
Se pide que los Ministros Extraordinarios de la Comunión utilicen el antiséptico que contiene alcohol antes y después
