One of today’s biggest fears is
someone stealing your
identity. This is a serious
crime and can wreak havoc
with your finances, credit
history and reputation. It
also takes time, money and
patience to resolve.
You should always protect
your personal information
and be very cautious when
giving it out over the phone
or by Email. Shred your
personal information; do not
throw it in the trash.
Thieves have been known to
dumpster dive or rummage
through your garbage, the
trash of a business or public
dumps. Once identity
thieves have your personal
information, they can drain
your bank account, run up
charges on your credit cards,
open utility accounts, or get
medical treatment on your
health insurance. An
identity thief might even file
a tax return in your name
and get your refund. In some
cases, a thief might even give
your name to the police
during an arrest. If you have
had personal information
lost or stolen, or suspect
someone stealing your
identity, here are a few
immediate steps that should
be taken.
First, you should place a
fraud alert on your credit
report. Call one of the three
credit reporting companies
and tell them that you are an
identity theft victim. Ask
the company to put a fraud
alert on your credit file.
Confirm that the company
you call will contact the
other two companies, as they
are supposed to. Once you
have an alert on your report,
a business must verify your
identity before it issues
credit in your name, so they
may try and contact you. Be
sure the credit companies
have your current contact
information. The fraud alert
stays on your report for 90
days and then you can renew
it if need be. You can also
request to place a freeze on
your credit file. A credit
freeze means creditors can
not get to your credit report
at all. All three credit
companies contact
information is listed below.
Second, once you have filed
your fraud alert, you are

Oil Steadies After Big Drop On Easing Supply Fears
Brent crude oil was little
changed in choppy
trading on Friday as
investors moved to
square positions
following one of the
i n t e r n a t i o n a l
benchmark's biggest
weekly falls this year
due to reduced concerns
over exports from strifetorn Iraq.
Prices have dropped
more than $2 from a
nine-month high of
$115.71 hit on June 19 as
output from Iraq's
southern oilfields,
which produce most of
the nation's 3.3 million

barrels per day (bpd),
remained unaffected by
fighting in the north and
west.
"A lot of people are very
long, the market's gotten
a little top-heavy, and
we're susceptible to a
correction," said
Stephen Schork, editor
of The Schork Report in
V i l l a n o v a ,
Pennsylvania.
Libya's eastern oil port of
Hariga completed the
loading of a tanker
carrying 600,000 barrels
of crude oil destined for
Italy on Friday after a
protest by security
guards ended, the port
operator said, further
easing supply worries on
the world market.
Brent rose 9 cents to
settle at $113.30 a barrel,
after falling 79 cents in
the previous session. It
lost more than 1.3
percent this week, its
steepest weekly fall
since March.

U.S. crude fell 10 cents

The spread between the

the week at $7.56 after
having widened to $9.67
on June 19, when Brent
hit its 9-month peak.

WHY ALL THE FUSS?
So, let’s do a
quick review.
If you are a
woman and
you are
By: Gina Stanley
employed
at Hobby Lobby, not only
do you get paid well above
minimum wage -- $14 per
hour for full-time
employees, $9.50 for parttime -- but you always get
Sundays off.
And then there’s the
insurance. Listening to
the outcries from liberalleaning organizations and
Hollywood celebrities,
you’d think female
employee policies call for
castration if they think or
talk about sex.
“Terrifying” was one word
I heard used to describe
the recent ruling by the
Supreme Court regarding
birth control coverage.
Another female friend
said ANY drug that she
and her doctor deemed
appropriate should be
covered. Good luck with
that one sister. Insurance
companies already
determine which brands
of medicine they’ll pay for
and which ones they
don’t.
So from that respect, this
ruling is really not a huge
deal. Hobby Lobby
insurance plans offer 16
different options when it
comes to birth control.
Sixteen!! I didn’t even
know that many existed.
The four birth controls
that Hobby Lobby and the
Green family object to can
prevent pregnancy after
fertilization. That is what
the Green family opposes,
not general birth control.
So the issue really isn’t
about having access to
birth control.
So, why all the fuss? If
workers aren’t satisfied
with double digits of
options in their birth
control arsenal, nobody at
Hobby Lobby is stopping
them from purchasing the
“morning after” pill. No
store managers are trying
to cram their personal
religious beliefs down the
throats of IUD-seeking
female employees.
Speaking of religion, the
Green family hasn’t kept
their faith under a bushel.
People going to work there
are fully aware that this
company is based on
Christian principles.
They begin staff meetings
with Bible readings and
utilize Christian-based
mediation to resolve
employee disputes. They
donate millions to
Christian charities. Even
through all this Christian
tyranny, Hobby Lobby
receives high ratings as an
employer from the people
who actually work there.
So the issue really isn’t
about forcing religious
beliefs on those who don’t
want it, either.
So again – why all the
fuss? There has been an
all-out media blitz to
demonize Hobby Lobby.
Even the Supreme Court
justices have had death
threats lobbed at them
We Offer You: Energy-Knowledge and Results!
over this ruling. Nice.
White House Press
Secretary Josh Earnest
said that our president
“believes that women
should make personal
healthcare decisions for
themselves rather than
their bosses deciding for
them.” Good grief. From
that statement, I would
assume that men in shortsleeve white shirts and
skinny black ties are
lining up the lady workers
and having them
sterilized.
It seems that the liberal
agenda just can’t be a
gracious loser. They say
they want women to have
a choice. There are lots of
times to make choices and
women are free to do so at
each and every turn in
their lives. Nobody is
stopping that. They say
they want freedom from
religion (actually, they
mean Christianity).
Nobody infringing on that
either.
The bottom line is that
Hobby Lobby has
provided generous
insurance since 1972. In
2012, Obamacare
mandates stepped on the
LIST With US and Buy With US!
toes of their belief system.
So they stood up for those
beliefs and they won. We
should be celebrating this
liberty. But you’ll always
have those who just want
to fuss.

USDA Makes $5 Million in Farm Bill Support for National Clean Plant Network Available
U.S. Department of
Agriculture (USDA)
S e c r e t a r y To m Vi l s a c k
announced today the
allocation of $5 million to
support 19 projects under
the National Clean Plant
Network (NCPN) funded
under the Agriculture Act of
2014 (the 2014 Farm Bill).
NCPN-funded facilities
provide high-quality
propagative plant material
that is free of plant
pathogens and pests that
can otherwise cause
economic losses to the
American specialty crop
industry, which includes
fruits and vegetables and
other crops.
"Invasive pests can
endanger our nation's crops
and food security. They
cause billions of dollars in
damage each year," said
Vilsack. "The funds USDA is
$
making available today will
help partners and
stakeholders prevent the
introduction or spread of
plant pests and diseases that
threaten America's
agriculture economy."
T h e Fa r m B i l l f u n d s
provided to the NCPN help
maintain the infrastructure
necessary for growing
disease and pest-free plants,
improving diagnostic
capabilities and providing
therapeutic treatments in
specialty crop plants, and
establishing foundation
stock . The goal is to make
sure that disease-free,
certified planting materials
are available and ensure the
global competitiveness of
U.S. specialty crop
producers. This year, 22
proposals requesting $7.8
million were submitted to
NCPN to support
developing and propagating
pest-free fruit trees, grapes,
hops, berries, citrus, roses
and sweet potatoes.
The NCPN Governing
Board, which is comprised
of representatives from
USDA APHIS along with
representatives from
USDA's Agricultural
Research Service and
National Institute of Food
and Agriculture, and
members of the National
Plant Board, recommended
the projects to be funded
and the level of funding.
The first priority for funding
was given to projects that
support existing facilities

capabilities for maintaining

Just because school is out for
the summer doesn’t mean
l e a r n i n g h a s t o t a ke a
vacation. Take advantage of
this time to help your
children develop new skills
in the garden.
Gardening is enjoyable for
all ages, but children
especially will have a lot of
fun and learn things that will
be beneficial in all parts of
their lives, such as
r e s p o n s i b i l i t y, s e l f confidence and creativity.
They’ll also develop a love of
nature and can get a better
grasp on good nutrition by
planting various fruits and
vegetables.
To begin with, let older
children be part of the
planning and design of the
garden. Keep in mind for
children just starting out in
gardening, it’s best to keep it
simple. Give your kiddos
their own small plot, or even
simpler, a few containers on
the patio. Let them go with
you to the garden center to
pick out starter plants. It’s
always a good idea to begin
with some fruits and
vegetables you know they
like, but don’t be afraid to
branch out and let them
grow some new things, too.
Sometimes children aren’t
very receptive to trying new
fruits and vegetables you
bring home from the grocery
store or farmers market, but
they might be pretty excited
about trying new things if
they get to grow things in
their own garden.
Children aren’t necessarily
known for having a lot of
patience either, so try to pick
out a few fast-growing plants
such as sunflowers, corn and
pumpkins. This will help
them quickly see the results
of their efforts.
Something else to consider is
using varieties of plants that
have sensory and textural
qualities. Woolly lamb’s ear
and succulents such as aloe
vera are great for touch. For
taste, think about planting
basil, strawberries or cherry
tomatoes. Sweet peas,
jasmine or lemon balm will
definitely pique the sense of
smell. Brightly colored
plants such as daffodils or
rainbow chard are visually
pleasing. For the sense of
sound, consider corn,
bamboo or various grasses
that rustle against each other
in a gentle Oklahoma wind.
McAlester has an ongoing
community garden project
which is spearheaded by
Richard and Karen Askew.
Recently we met to share Jr.
Master Gardening
curriculum geared for
children. We are in the
infancy of planning how to
implement this curriculum
as a part of their
programming but would
welcome any volunteers to
this project.

Agriculture
The golden days of summer
are finally here! No more
fighting snow, ice and mud to
feed the cows every day.
Calves are bucking and
playing while their mothers
fatten on the best forage of the
year. Now is the time to let
the cattle fend for themselves
for a while and turn our
thoughts to other things. It’s
time to get ready to hit the
hayfields, farm small grain
acres, and maybe even work
in a little family vacation
time while the kids and
grandkids are out of school.
In the cattle business,
however, as soon as you turn
your back bad things can be
sneaking up on you.
In Oklahoma anaplasmosis
can cause serious problems
any time of the year, but
summer is the time when it is
most prevalent.
There are several reasons
why this is so. In summer
there are greater populations
of insect vectors to spread the
disease from carrier animals.
Many cases are spread by
ranchers when they work
their herds in the spring and
early summer and show up
after an incubation period in
midsummer. Perhaps the
biggest issue is that we just
don’t spend as much time
with our cattle in the summer
as when we are supplemental
feeding in the winter and
small problems can become
giant problems before we are
aware of them.
The insect vectors include
ticks and biting flies.
Controlling these pests will
go a long way towards
controlling anaplasmosis.
Human vectors transfer
anaplasmosis from carriers to
susceptible animals via
hypodermic needles, surgical
instruments, or anything that
transfers minute quantities of
blood from animal to animal.
Always change needles
frequently and clean
instruments between
animals. It is often possible
to determine the type of
vector by the course of the
disease.
In cases that come from
insect vectors it is typical to
see one or two severe cases
followed several weeks later
by an outbreak of several
cases that trace back to the
original infections earlier. In
cases arising from human
transfer it is typical to see
multiple cases all developing
at or near the same time
several weeks after cattle
have been processed. No
matter the source, it is early
detection and quarantine of
affected animals is vital to
limit the spread and avoid
major losses.
Anaplasmosis attacks and
destroys the red blood cells,
causing anemia and often
ultimately death.
The first observable sign is a
yellow or orange coloration
around the eyes and or vulva
due to pigments released by
hemoglobin breakdown.
Animals that are normally
gentle become anxious and
intractable, often wanting to
fight, due to lack of oxygen to
the brain.
When symptoms are severe
many animals die while
being gathered for treatment
due to lack of oxygen and
excitability. Once the case is
severe antibiotics are no
longer affective. It may be
advisable to leave advanced
cases alone and let the
disease run its course while
removing the healthy
animals from the pasture to
avoid further infections.
Recovered animals serve as
carriers, but sick animals are
about 10 times more infective
than recovered animals, so
quarantining actively sick
animals is of greatest
importance.
A vaccine is available but it
has provisional licensing
only at this time and in
Oklahoma must be obtained
through a licensed
veterinarian.
Your veterinarian can also
make recommendations for
controlling infections by
using antibiotics in the salt or
mineral and eliminating the
carrier state of recovered
animals with parenteral
antibiotics. Perhaps the best
thing to remember to prevent
catastrophic losses this
summer is to check often and
catch problems early. Don’t
wait for it to rain to find time
to check the cows.

As the Obamacare detractors keep talking about "failure" and
"cooking the books" and the GOP keeps screaming repeal,
repeal, repeal: the Kaiser Foundation reports that 57 percent
of Americans buying into healthcare plans on the exchanges
were previously uninsured for two years or longer. That's
more than twice as many as estimated. And that doesn't
include all those previously uninsured Americans who were
expanded into Medicaid -- and still are -- as Medicaid
enrollment continues year round. Wonder what the number
will be by November?
Is it just me that notices dead animals on our roads that are
left to slowly decompose without anyone to pick them up?
Besides being foul smelling it is a health hazard. There is
always a dead creature on the road. Is it hard to become a
dog-catcher?
The top 20 percent do pay more taxes. But because of lower
rates and loopholes, their incomes skyrocketed over the last
few years while the rest of us lost ground. They also get more
from all levels of government. They are most influential in
states and locally, but nationally our taxes build
infrastructure for their businesses, award huge contracts to
them, give them cheap money then bail them out, let them
extract resources from our public lands, protect their
worldwide assets, and clean up the effluvia they leak, spill,
and spew. Then when our government gives a few bucks to
sustain the lives of their victims, the rich blame the victims
and claim they are the real victims. They get away with it
because they also own the media, the politicians and the
courts.
I'm guessing that the person who is happy about Obamacare
is not one of the six million people who was forced out of
their existing healthcare plans due to its implementation.
After the upcoming election in November, when large
companies will have to pay more for their employees'
healthcare, there will be even more unhappy people forced
out of their plans.
I have a handicap parking permit on my mirror. It is no more
distracting than fuzzy dice, sunglasses or scented pine trees
hanging from a mirror. I don't take it down when I am
driving, because I am tired of being harassed when I pull into
a handicapped parking space without it already hanging. In
the moment it takes to reach into the box and get it out and
hang it, people can get very nasty since I don't "look"
handicapped. It's simply easier to leave it hanging. My nerve
condition causes me constant pain, but you can't "see" that.
On days when my pain level is not high, I don't park in a
handicapped spot.
Thank you Long John Silvers and Staff for the free fish basket
you offered us Saturday June 28th. And for making our other

The object is to insert the numbers in the boxes to satisfy only one

Sometimes you just have to
deal with neighborhoods to

ARIES (Mar. 21- April 20) You will benefit by taking care of other people's concerns. Be firm when dealing with matters pertaining to your environment. Your changing
attitudes may be causing concern for your partner.
TAURUS (Apr. 21- May 21) You will meet some interesting people if you attend promotional functions. Be sure to get involved in self improvement programs that will bring
you in contact with interesting people. You may find travel to be most rewarding.
GEMINI (May 22-June 21) Someone you work with could have a personal interest in you. Be cautious who you deal with financially. You need to clear up some important
personal documents before the end of the year.
CANCER (June 22-July 22) Go over their important documents and take the time to suggest alternatives. Don't be too quick to judge those you live with. You must be sure
not to be frivolous, because as the saying goes, easy come, easy go.
LEO (July 23-Aug 22) You can make financial gains through investments and dealing with other people's money. You'd be wise to control your spending so your debts
don't get out of hand. Try to curb your bad habits, and compromise if your partner gives you an ultimatum.
VIRGO (Aug. 23 -Sept. 23) Concentrate on yourself or your work. You have more than enough on your plate already. Educational pursuits should help you develop your
hobbies.
LIBRA (Sept. 24 -Oct. 23) Problems with financial investments could make you nervous. If you can, try to work out of your home today. You should avoid getting involved
in the personal problems of colleagues.
SCORPIO (Oct. 24 - Nov. 22) Sign up for courses that will help you understand yourself better. Try to keep an open mind. Opposition is present and you should be
prepared to counteract it as best you can.
ASTROLOGY
UPDATE
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23 -Dec. 21) Offer good conversation and a nice soothing lunch. If you act with anger you may blow the relationship. Avoid any petty ego
confrontations; they could lead to estrangement if you aren't careful.
CAPRICORN (Dec 22.- Jan. 20) You will be quite excitable today. Look into projects that you feel would contribute something to your appearance. You can help a close
friend find solutions to personal problems.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 21 -Feb. 19) Your attitudes are changing rapidly. Involvement in groups will be favorable. Business partnerships will prove lucrative. Try to be honest
when dealing with your mate.
PISCES (Feb. 20-Mar. 20) You are able to make changes in your home that will be favorable to all involved. Catch up on overdue paperwork. There will be hidden matters
that you may find disturbing.
