Dear Members:
Summer has not slowed us down this year! You asked
and we delivered, our staff has created a full calendar
of events this summer to keep our year round
members busier than ever. Check out the new Sunset
Spin Class at the pool which instantly became a new,
member favorite. Pick up a Club calendar at the Front
Desk to take advantage of many other new activities
added to the summer’s agenda.

Based on the request of the membership, the Board has approved the
purchase of the Symbiont Geothermal Pool System that will heat and cool all
three pools as needed throughout the seasons. The Symbiont system is very
economically friendly and more efficient than the system we were using
previously. This change was decided just in time because our old heating
system was due for a replacement. We hope you all enjoy this brand new, top
of the line pool system all year long!

We have more big news to share - we have hit a record of the most homes
sold at St. Andrews in one year. Our fiscal year ends October 31 and in eight
months we have already surpassed the total number of homes closed each of
the past two years. Don’t forget to introduce yourself to the new members
and give them a warm St. Andrews welcome!

As the heat and humidity begin to elevate we are seeing more
members depart seeking cooler temperatures up north, out west
or overseas. Those members who remain year round are being
treated to a stepped up summer offering including more flexibility
in dining options than ever before, Friday night entertainment,
spa specials, on and off-site activities and so much more!
In case you haven’t heard, we are pleased to share that our home
closings thus far in the fiscal year are at 45 with eight pending. We
have far exceeded our goal of 30 and reports indicate that home
prices are beginning to increase. In addition, five of the closed
homes were non-member homes which allows us to grow our
membership base.
Craig D. Martin, CCM,
Chief Operating Officer
and General Manager
Our various marketing activities such as marketing promotions, Realtor® outreach,
and social media campaigns have had a positive impact on our sales success. Your
support in verbally marketing St. Andrews to your friends while you are vacationing
or enjoying your northern clubs is encouraged. The majority of our new members
each year join because of member referrals and their experience visiting the club as a
guest. Referrals remain the best form of marketing for any club as a stronger
membership is built from personalized encouragement to join.
Soon you will be receiving our annual request to update your contact information in
the membership directory and we will once again request that you also send in a
recent photo of you and your family members who are listed on the membership. The
Board recently approved a Rule requiring all members listed on the membership to
provide a photo taken within the past two years to the Membership Department. You
can send them directly to Joanna Pratt, Marketing & Membership Specialist at
[email protected] or call her at 561-451-4900 x488 for assistance.
We have begun the Golf Shop renovation and look forward to seeing the facility open
again in the fall with a new floor plan, designer accoutrements, and a brand new line
of soft and hard goods. In other golf news, upon the recommendation of the Greens
Committee, the Board agreed to not replace the driving range turf at this time since
the Long Range Planning Committee is reviewing future modifications to all of the
practice facilities. This is a prudent decision not to spend funds on items that are
being considered for complete replacement.
Finally, be on the lookout for this Style Magazine in video format for you to easily
share with family and friends.
All the best,

Dining
WOOO!!! Is it hot out there, or is it just those Chef Steve BBQ Ribs we are serving at
Lakeside?! Your Food & Beverage Team have put together a new Lakeside menu for the rest of
the summer that has some Lakeside favorites and a few fresh treats. The new menu will be
available every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday throughout July, and the rest of August.
Thank you all for sending back your survey which was absolutely instrumental in revamping
our new summer Lakeside menu.
Because of numerous membership requests, we have decided to keep the Gallery open
throughout the month of July for lunch every day and dinner on Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday. The Gallery will be closed for annual renovations the entire month of August. All
restaurants will remain closed for dinner on Mondays till the beginning of October. Please look for notifications
around the Clubhouse, and on our website. Our restaurant hours can also be found on the Club website and in the
weekly eNewsletter.
Federica Davis
Director of Food & Beverage
June was a very strong month for the F&B department boosted by the Comedy Show Dinner and Father’s Day
celebration. Revenues in the dining outlets exceeded budget numbers followed by the revenues coming from the
Catering department.
Don’t forget to join us for Wine & Dine every Wednesday night at Lakeside. We have some excellent wines this month
from South America, Europe, and California. While Wednesdays Wine & Dine have slowed down to more modest
numbers, Tuesday and Thursday nights at Lakeside have been extremely successful and the members are enjoying
the different dining atmosphere.
Friday Lobster Specials continue to be our members’ favorite evening. The addition of complimentary sushi selection
and the Friday nights entertainment in the View has added to the St. Andrews summer experience by offering
members another fun and relaxed dining option.
See you around the Club.

THE HEAT IS ON
With the summer heat upon us don’t forget to practice
under our two Dryrainge Canopies. These allow three
golfers per unit to practice in the summer heat or rain.
Also don’t forget to sign up for a lesson or fitting in the
Golf Performance Center. The GPC has just added a
Paul Clivio,
huge upgrade to the technology used for inside video
Director of Golf
teaching. The new Flight Scope system has more
tracking power and better statistics than ever before
to help fit every member with the proper clubs. We have also added three new
high definition cameras, more models for comparison, and an entire new
computer system that allows our golf professionals to give the best lessons
anywhere around. If you ask any golf professional they will tell you how
important it is to use video technology to help with your swing and we have
the area’s best facility right here at St. Andrews just for you.
While I do agree that having the best technology is important I also believe
the main key to hitting the ball longer is to develop the proper core strength
and swing flexibility. Over the past 10 years exercise vans have been going
from PGA tournament to PGA tournament and players even have their
exercise instructor meet them at the events. Recently some
of the St. Andrews trainers have been out on the driving
range helping members build their core strength by
performing specific drills and stretches that relate to the
golf swing.
We have two TRUE stretching machines: one is located in
the Fitness Center; and the other is just outside the GPC.
Everyone should take a few minutes prior to playing or
practicing to make sure they have their body properly
stretched.

OUR LINKS TO THE LINKS
The St. Andrews Women’s Golf Association is in full swing all year. Just a reminder to all members that we still
have 9 hole and 18 hole tournaments every Tuesday. Our Tournament Chair, Linda Soicher has set up these
mostly fun tournaments, so come out and join the die-hard regulars. We try to play threesomes so that we can
move along quickly to beat the heat and the rain.
This is also a call to all new St. Andrews members. BE OUR GUEST. Come try us out this summer for free. We
want to welcome you into the group before we start the new fall season in November.
Our new season will be full of exciting tournaments and events. Some new and some old. We look forward to
starting the 2015-2016 season with our Fall Luncheon & Tournament chaired by Judi Falk. When your

After four matches, the St. Andrews Team for Summer Swingers (our summer league in which you play for your
club) is in 1st place. There are still three more matches and we hope we can maintain our lead of 17 points to win
the plaque again this year.
Our other league in which you play for yourself and prizes is the South Palm League. Contact Janie Simon, the
Club representative, to learn about participation in this league.
See you on the golf course,

THE
Over Net
The dog days of summer have definitely
arrived as extremely hot and humid
conditions have once again taken over
south Florida for the next several
months. With that being said, I want to
thank all of our avid tennis aficionados
for keeping our courts relatively active
during June and July.
There are several recent events to report
on and first up is our annual end of the
season Junior Tennis Pool Pizza Party.
Aaron Krickstein
We had a record 30 kids attend this awesome year Director of Tennis
end party and everyone had a blast! Next up was
our fun Memorial Day Round Robin event which was
played under beautiful blue skies. Twenty-four members
participated and all enjoyed the format and comradery.
Last, but certainly not least, was the always popular
Firecracker Mixer but unfortunately inclement weather
and lightning in the area cancelled the tournament.
We are currently in the finishing stages of finalizing next
year’s tennis calendar of events and the entire tennis staff
(whom will all be back!) are looking forward to another
terrific season.
In closing, our next event is our Labor Day Round Robin
scheduled for Monday, September 7. Please come out and
enjoy this great, fun filled holiday event.
See you on the courts!

Jackie Martinez
Director of Spa
The difference between a foot massage
and foot reflexology?
The only similarity between the two services is that they are both relaxing as long as you are ok with your feet being touched.
However, these treatments are VERY different in technique and purpose.
A foot massage is generally performed by a massage therapist as part of the routine massage service or by a nail technician
performing a pedicure. Both have been trained and licensed to perform traditional massage techniques geared toward
relaxation.
Foot reflexology is a specialty service. Licensed therapists take additional classes to be trained in this specialty and
certification is given to those who meet all requirements. The philosophy behind foot reflexology is based on the premise
that the foot contains a series of pressure points that correspond with all the major body systems, including the skin, nervous
system, musculoskeletal system, circulatory system, and lymphatic system.
Based on the theory that there are reflex points on the feet, hands, and head
linked to every part of the body, reflexologists are able to apply pressure and
flex the foot to stimulate these systems.
In most cases, reflexology can:
•
Provide general stress relief
•
Restore inner balance
•
Aide in detoxification
•
Improve circulation
•
Provide immunological boost
•
Aide in pain relief
•
Identify stress patterns in the body
Here at St. Andrews we have seen vast improvement amongst our members
who frequent reflexology with balance, aches & pains and aide in pre/post
surgeries.

BEST FOODS TO EAT
IN 2015 AND WHY?
STEEL-CUT OATMEAL:
Lots of fiber and protein, which will keep your
blood sugar in balance, and will make you feel
fuller longer.
2STEVIA:
Stevia is natural so it will not have you crave more sugar
like artificial sweeteners do.
3 UNSALTED NUTS:
Especially almonds and walnuts, they have
protein & good fats.
4 GREEK YOGURT:
It is high in protein, calcium, and a great
snack with berries or nuts.
5EGGS:
Eat eggs two times a week, but stick with the 3:1 ratio:
3 egg whites to 1 yolk.
6 CITRUS FRUIT:
7
Full of Vitamin C which help improves
your immune system and fight cancer.
BROCCOLI AND GREEN LEAFY VEGGIES:
High in antioxidants and the more color and darker the green
leafy veggies, the more nutrients.
8GINGER:
Ginger is great for digestion and for
inflammation.
9
HERBAL AND GREEN
TEA:
Helps with digestion and increases metabolism.
10WATER, WATER, WATER:
Necessary to remove toxins, cleanses the body, great
for skin and hair.

I hope this article finds everyone well and
enjoying your summer, wherever your
location may be!
It is my pleasure to introduce you to our
new Social and Events Manager, Ally
Hirst! Ally joined St. Andrews Country
Club in May and has assumed the
responsibilities of her predecessor, Emma
MacHugh. Although Ally is originally
from Jacksonville, as a member of a
military family she lived in many areas,
but in particular, Washington D.C. Prior
to joining St. Andrews Ally was a second
grade teacher in Jacksonville and brings
not only a passion for children’s activities
to our Club, but also, a strong creative
event side. Ally was previously in charge
of many large events at University of
North Florida and also, the Jewish
Community Alliance. Ally has already
implemented new initiatives at the Club,
one being the opportunity to arrange
cultural and off premise events for those
members wishing to experience
something outside of St. Andrews and,
creating a concise guide outlining all of
the many children’s activities for the 20152016 season.
Please join me in welcoming Ally to the
St. Andrews Country Club team! Any
questions you may have for Ally, she can
be reached at [email protected]
or, at extension #413.
On a final note, safe travels to all of you
who are traveling during the summer! As
always, please do not hesitate to contact
the Catering Department for that special
event!
