On Thursday January 8th, 2015 in the
auditorium of I.C. Norcom High
School, the Portsmouth Police
Department held a forum to teach
students the best ways to interact and
cooperate with authorities. I.C. Norcom
resource officer Det. Tim Northern led a
panel discussion; along with Senior class
Vice President Miss. Deidra Saunders
which included representatives from the
Commonwealth's Attorney and Public
Defenders offices. The event was a great
success and we look forward to more
interactive forums in the future!

Parent Portal Directions
1. See your child’s school counselor to receive your Parent Letter which contains your Access ID and Access
Password.
2. Log in into PowerTeacher Parent Portal from any computer with high speed internet access. Type:
https://powerschool.pps.12.va.us/public/home.html into the web browser.
3. Click Create Account. Fill-out the form including all requested information. Make sure to use a valid email
address.
4. Once you are logged in, On the left hand side, click School Bulletin for School Announcements

I.C. Norcom Students on the move…
Focus on the Arts…
On December 3rd, 2014, 3 members of
the Art Club, Rashaun Parker,
Khadejah Hucks and Makiea Brown
did the annual holiday window
paintings in windows of business in
Olde Towne. Every year, each
Portsmouth school is assigned a
window of one of the businesses
downtown to decorate for the holiday
season. Norcom art students painted
the windows at 600 Court street under
the direction of Linnea Barth.
FBLA and the Y-Sters Program
On January 20th, 2015, 11 Y-Sters
Virginia area high schools joined the
First Lady of Virginia and the Virginia
Foundation for Healthy Youth in order
to celebrate Healthy Youth Day!
Virginia Healthy Youth Day is held
every January by the Virginia
Foundation for Healthy Youth (VFHY)
and promotes healthy lifestyles for
Virginia's children, including eating
right, exercising and avoiding the use
of tobacco products. We would like to
congratulate Jamie Nervil of I. C.
Norcom High School for her
participation in this event. Go
