Message from
Chief Executive Officer/
Managing Director
Utusan daripada
Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif/
Pengarah Urusan
Dear friends and members of the UAC Family,
Rakan-rakan dan warga UAC sekalian,
Much had happened since I last wrote to you on Berita UAC.
Banyak perkara telah berlaku sejak kali terakhir saya menulis
kepada anda dalam Berita UAC.
We held our 47th Annual General Meeting on 5 April 2011.
The shareholder turnout was encouraging and the flow of
questions from the floor showed the interest of shareholders
in the affairs of the Company. All resolutions put to the
shareholders were passed.
At the Boustead Group level, the Deputy Chairman/Group
Managing Director of Boustead Holdings Berhad, Y.Bhg. Tan
Sri Dato’ Lodin Wok Kamaruddin, was made an honorary
graduate of The University of Nottingham UK. He was
conferred with the Doctor of Laws by the University. All of us
at UAC Berhad extend our heartiest congratulations to Tan Sri
Lodin on being conferred this honour.
On the business front, the Company managed to grow its
sales volume in the first quarter despite challenging market
conditions in all markets. However, rising costs had put a
tight squeeze on profit margins. The strong Malaysian Ringgit
against our major trading currencies had also eroded revenue
from export sales which were transacted mainly in US Dollar.
However, management had worked relentlessly to improve
efficiencies in operations, increase productivity and strive for
volume growth in all markets.
Our R & D Department continued its work on finalising new
building products and systems that will add value to our
existing range of products. We are hopeful to bring some of
these to market before the end of this year.
The months ahead may prove to be trying as the health of the
global economy remains uncertain with events happening in
Europe and the US. Global economic health may be impacted
by these events in the months ahead and this in turn will
affect the marketplace we do business in. We at UAC Berhad
will continue to work with all our business partners to
weather through this season.
Our appreciation goes to all our business partners for your
continuing support. To all our employees, I urge you to rise up
to meet the challenges ahead together as a united team.
Kita mengadakan Mesyuarat Agung Tahunan yang ke47 pada 5 April 2011. Kehadiran para pemegang saham
amat menggalakkan dan soalan-soalan yang dikemukakan
menunjukkan minat mereka terhadap perkembangan Syarikat.
Semua resolusi yang dibentangkan kepada para pemegang
saham diluluskan.
Pada peringkat Kumpulan Boustead pula, Y.Bhg. Tan Sri
Dato’ Lodin Wok Kamaruddin, Timbalan Pengerusi/Pengarah
Urusan Kumpulan Boustead Holdings Berhad, menerima
gelaran siswazah kehormat daripada The University of
Nottingham UK.
Mengenai perkembangan perniagaan pula, Syarikat berjaya
meningkatkan jumlah jualan pada suku pertama tahun
meskipun keadaan pasaran mencabar. Bagaimanapun,

Since first opening its doors in Kuala Lumpur with
just 90 students, UNMC has grown to a community
of more than 4,000, based on a purpose-built
multi-faculty campus, near Kuala Lumpur. The
opening was a historic step - making Nottingham
the first British university to open a fully operational
overseas branch campus.
In 2010, the University celebrated a decade of
international educational and research excellence in
Malaysia at a time when the Malaysian government
recognised UNMC as one of the nation’s elite
higher education providers.
“I wish to congratulate Tan Sri Lodin as it is
just rightful that he receives due recognition for
believing and supporting in us from the late 90s
when we started talks in Malaysia. He is among

supports the development of higher education for
his fellow Malaysians,” said Prof. Ian Pashby, CEO &
