Now that Lhe dust has seuled on Courage League maLches, Birkenhead Park are faced with
the prospect of playi ng their rugby aL a lower level nexL season after being relegated from
Area League North.
Thi s is tough luc k for Park who ended the league campaign very much up with the pack.
However, as C lub Spokesman Graeme Marrs points out, the club paid the penalty for
throwing away points in games against Preston Grasshoppers.
Howeve r, Park will be looking for an early retum to the hi gher level, and wi ll be aiming to
repeat the foml they showed in the league match against Stourbridge whe re they played
superbly we il to tum a 13-4 deficit into a 14-1 3 victory injust 20 minutes.
Away From the competiti ve pressures of league and cup rugby the other Park tcams have
becn tuming Dul enthusias tically for what Graeme Marrs describes as 'Saturday aftemoon
exercise and fello wship'.
Recently at Lhe club Jim Harty 's Rest of the Wo rld XV tackled the Hi lbre Islands in what
was a very entertaining rugby display for c harity.
Looking ahead, Birke nhead Park will be seu ing off for exotic locations next May whe n Lhcy
visit th e Bahamas fo r a 14 day tour. Before then the club will be going on a pre-season tour
down South, culminat ing in agame against Rosslyn Park at Roehampton.
